Krups sells a wide spread of coffee machines. The ones we meet most often in Dubai are the fully automatic bean-to-cup machines: the older EA80 and EA81 Essential and Espresseria Automatic range, the EA86 and the EA89 Evidence range with its screen. Retailers also list Krups-branded capsule machines, including Nescafé Dolce Gusto Genio models and Nespresso machines such as the Inissia.

The bean-to-cup machines share a simple pattern of faults. The grinder jams on a foreign object, the coffee slows to a drip, the milk block stops drawing, the machine keeps asking for water or an empty tray, or the CLEAN and CALC lights will not go away. Krups wrote answers to many of these in its own manuals, and this page sets them out in plain terms, along with the point at which a repair is the better answer than another reset.

Our technicians come to your home or office in Dubai, normally the same day. They read the fault, give you a price before any part is fitted and repair on site where they can. If a machine has to go to the workshop, we collect it.

## Krups coffee machine repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

A visit is AED 100 plus 5% VAT and pays for finding the fault. After that you get a single repair price to accept or refuse. Krups repairs run from AED 80 to AED 400, depending on the fault.

- Same-day visits. Message us on WhatsApp with the model number and a photo of the lights or screen.
- Genuine parts, with the part and the labour in one price.
- We try to fix it where it stands. Complex faults go to the workshop and we collect the machine.
- One month of cover on what we fit.

Common Krups jobs, cheapest first. The order is a guide, and your quote gives the real figure.

| Job | Where it sits in the range |
| --- | --- |
| Descale and clean with the Krups programmes | Lower end |
| Steam nozzle and milk block clean, tube replacement | Lower end |
| Tank float, tray sensor or collector seat | Lower end |
| Grinder jam cleared, foreign object removed | Lower to middle |
| Brew unit clean, seals and re-seat | Lower to middle |
| Valve or flow sensor | Middle |
| Pump | Middle |
| Steam or milk path repair | Middle |
| Grinder motor or burrs | Middle to upper |
| Thermoblock or heater | Upper end |
| Control board or display | Upper end |

The cheapest repair on this list is the one that never needed doing. The Krups manuals say plainly that the machine will ask for descaling and cleaning, and that postponing them is what leads to the dearer jobs at the bottom.

## Which Krups do you have?

The name is on the front, and the model number is on the plate at the back or underneath. Send us a photo of the plate and we bring the right parts.

## Who looks after your Krups in Dubai?

Krups' public pages do not name a UAE service partner that we could find. Its manuals send the owner to Krups customer service when the troubleshooting steps fail, and say the cleaning tablets and descaler are sold through Krups after-sales centres. With a new machine, start with the shop that sold it and read the warranty card.

The EA86 manual adds a condition worth knowing: run the descaling cycle when the machine requests it to keep the guarantee valid. If your machine is under warranty and has ignored months of descaling prompts, the shop may say so.

Out of warranty, or stuck with a shop that cannot help? That is when to message us. The diagnosis is AED 100 plus VAT, the repair price comes before the work and a month of cover follows it.

| Where you are | Best first call |
| --- | --- |
| Machine under a year old | The shop, with the receipt |
| Out of warranty | Us |
| Imported or second-hand | Check the plate voltage, then us |
| The manual tells you to ring Krups | Try the steps on this page, then us |

We do not work for Krups. If the shop should handle it, we tell you before opening the machine.

## How a Krups bean-to-cup machine works, and why that helps with diagnosis

- The water tank feeds a pump. A float at the bottom of the tank tells the machine when the tank is empty, and the EA89 manual says to check that float moves freely if the warning stays on after filling.
- A heater brings the water to temperature. Scale coats it over time, which is why Krups builds a descaling prompt into the machine.
- The grinder takes beans from the hopper. The fineness knob sets the grind, and the EA89 manual says to turn it only while the grinder is running.
- The brew unit presses the grounds and lets the water pass through them.
- The grounds collector and the drip tray catch the waste. The machine asks you to empty them after a set number of coffees, whether or not they look full.
- On models with milk, the One Touch Cappuccino block draws milk through a tube and a connector and mixes it with steam.
- The steam nozzle gives steam and hot water.

Walking through them from tank to brew unit finds most Krups faults.

## Common Krups faults and what the manuals say

### The machine will not switch on

The EA89 manual says to hold the On/Off button for at least 3 seconds, check fuses and sockets, and confirm both power plugs are fully inserted. The EA80 manual's cause list is a fault, the power supply or a foreign body, and its remedy is to switch off, unplug, remove the filter cartridge, wait a minute and restart. If a machine stays dead with power at the socket and the plug seated, the board or the power supply inside is at fault.

### The appliance asks to be unplugged and plugged back in

The EA89 manual says to unplug the machine for 20 seconds, remove the Claris Aqua Filter cartridge if necessary and plug it back in. If the message returns, the manual says to contact Krups customer service. A message that keeps coming back means a sensor, the drive or the board has a fault that a reset does not clear.

### The grinder makes a strange noise

Both manuals give the same cause, a foreign object in the grinder. The EA80 manual says to unplug before looking and suggests removing it with a vacuum cleaner. The EA89 manual tells you to contact customer service. Stones, hard seeds and husk can jam or chip the burrs. We open the grinder, take out the object and check the burrs.

### Coffee dispenses too slowly

The EA89 manual's remedy is to turn the fineness dial to the right for a coarser grind, run one or more rinse cycles, run a machine cleaning, or replace the Claris Aqua Filter cartridge. The EA80 manual gives the same cause, a grind that is too fine, and adds rinsing cycles and a new cartridge. If a coarser grind and a clean machine do not help, scale or a blocked water path is the next suspect.

### The fineness knob is hard to turn

Both manuals give the same cause. The setting was changed while the grinder was not running. Change it only while the grinder is running, and run a coffee circuit rinse before you brew.

### The machine keeps asking for water when the tank is full

The EA89 manual says to check that the tank is installed correctly and that the float at the bottom moves freely. Unblock it if it sticks. The EA80 manual adds that the fill-tank light comes on when the tank is missing, wrongly placed or below the minimum level, and that coffee and steam are blocked while it is on. If the float is free and the tank is seated and the light stays on, the sensor or its wiring may be at fault.

### The machine asks to empty the trays when they are not full

The EA89 manual explains that the machine asks after a set number of coffees, whatever you emptied earlier. If the warning stays after you empty the grounds collector, reinsert it correctly and wait at least 5 seconds, then follow the screen. The EA80 manual gives a wait of 6 seconds on its page for this fault, and a different figure of 4 seconds elsewhere, so allow the longer.

### Milk or froth problems

The EA89 manual covers the One Touch Cappuccino block in detail. If it does not draw milk, check the block is assembled correctly, especially the connector on the milk tube, and that the steam nozzle is not blocked. Soak a blocked connector in hot water with washing-up liquid, rinse and dry it. Check the flexible pipe is not twisted and is fully in the milk. For little or no froth, rinse and clean the block and use fresh, pasteurised or UHT milk that was recently opened, in a cold container.

### No steam, or the steam nozzle is blocked

The EA89 manual says to remove the nozzle with the dismantling key, run the block rinse cycle, clean the nozzle and clear it with the cleaning needle if necessary. If that fails, it describes emptying the tank, removing the Claris cartridge temporarily, filling the tank with high-calcium mineral water (over 100 mg/l) and running 5 to 10 steam cycles into a container until steam flows continuously, then refitting the cartridge. The EA80 manual's remedy is the supplied needle for the nozzle holes.

### Water under the machine

Both manuals give the same advice. Wait 15 seconds after the coffee stops before removing the water tank, keep the drip tray in place even when idle, make sure it is not full and do not remove it during a cycle. If water collects with the tray empty and in place, a seal or a hose is leaking and the machine needs a visit.

### Coffee is not hot, or too weak

For coffee that is not hot enough, the manuals say to raise the temperature in the settings and warm the cup with hot water. For weak coffee, avoid oily, caramelised or flavoured beans, check beans are reaching the grinder, use a smaller volume or the 2-cups function, and set the grind finer. Settings fix these faults more often than a technician does.

## Lights and messages on a Krups

### EA80 and EA81: the lights

| Light | What it means | Source |
| --- | --- | --- |
| CLEAN flashing | A cleaning cycle is requested, about every 300 coffees | EA8010 and EA8108 manual |
| CLEAN steady | The rinsing stage of the cleaning programme | Same |
| CALC flashing | A descaling cycle is requested or in progress. The machine warns you based on scale, which depends on water hardness | Same |
| CALC steady | The automatic rinse cycles after descaling | Same |
| Ready light on the On/Off key, steady | Ready for a coffee or steam cycle | Same |
| Ready light slow flash | Preheating or initialising | Same |
| Ready light constant flash | An operating fault | Same |
| Fill water tank light | Tank missing, wrongly placed or below the minimum | Same |
| Empty light | Empty the grounds collector, drip tray or drawer. It stays on if the collector is not fully seated | Same |

The manual says CLEAN and CALC only start a programme when the machine has requested it, so pressing the keys early does nothing. That is the answer to the common complaint that the cleaning or descaling programme will not start.

### EA89 Evidence: the screen

| Message | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Please empty the two trays | Empty the drip tray and the grounds collector. The machine asks after a set number of coffees |
| Cleaning program needed | Run the coffee circuit cleaning programme |
| Descaling program needed | Run the descaling programme. The alert stays on screen until the process finishes |
| Lack of water | The machine detected low water during a drink |
| Asks to be unplugged | Unplug for 20 seconds. If it returns, contact Krups customer service |

The EA89 manual states the machine uses on-screen messages and not alphanumeric error codes. That is why we do not list code numbers on this page. If your screen shows a number, photograph it and send it to us, and we will say what it means for your model.

## Cleaning and descaling programmes: the products Krups names

Krups machines have two separate programmes, and the manuals insist on Krups' own products for each.

| Programme | Product the manual names | Time | Container |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Coffee circuit cleaning | KRUPS cleaning tablet XS3000 | About 13 minutes on the EA80: about 10 for the cleaning and 3 for the rinse | At least 0.6 litre under the outlets |
| Descaling | KRUPS descaler F054, one 40 g sachet | About 20 minutes on the EA80 and EA89. About 22 minutes on the EA86 | At least 0.6 litre under the outlets and steam nozzle |
| Milk block cleaning (One Touch Cappuccino) | KRUPS cleaning liquid | Follow the screen | Two containers of at least 0.6 litre |

### What the manuals warn about

- Use only the Krups products for each programme. The manuals say damage from other products is not covered.
- Remove the Claris Aqua Filter F088 cartridge before descaling. The EA86 and EA89 manuals both say so.
- Protect worktops, especially marble, stone and wood, from descaler.
- Keep hands away from the steam nozzle, because the descaling cycle runs on and off.
- Complete the whole programme. The EA86 manual says to finish it to avoid a poisoning risk.
- The EA86 manual says you can keep using the machine when the descaling prompt appears, but that the cycle should be run as soon as possible, and that running it when requested keeps the guarantee valid.
- If the machine is unplugged or loses power during descaling, the EA86 and EA89 manuals say it resumes at the same step, and that it cannot be cancelled once started.
- If the cleaning programme on the EA80 is interrupted, restart the whole programme with a new tablet.

### How often

The machine decides. The EA80 manual puts the cleaning request at roughly every 300 coffees, and the descaling request depends on scale and water hardness. A retailer's walk-through for the EA8110 gives about every 4 months with a water filter and about every 2 months without one. That is the retailer's figure and not Krups', so treat it as a guide and follow the lights.

For the general method and reasons behind descaling, see our [guide to descaling a coffee machine](https://oneclickdubai.com/guides/how-to-descale-a-coffee-machine).

## Descaling a Krups EA80 or EA81 step by step

This sequence comes from the EA8010 and EA8108 manual, and a retailer's walk-through for the EA8110 confirms the shape. Check your own manual for the key names.

1. **Wait for CALC**: The CALC light flashes when the machine asks.
2. **Remove the filter**: Take out the Claris Aqua Filter cartridge if one is fitted.
3. **Prepare the machine**: Remove and clean the drip tray. Put a container of at least 0.6 litre under the coffee outlets and steam nozzle.
4. **Mix**: Empty the tank, fill it with lukewarm water to the marking and dissolve one 40 g F054 sachet in it. Refit the tank.
5. **Start**: Press the descale key. The lights flash during the descaling cycle, about 8 minutes.
6. **Empty and rinse**: Empty the container and drip tray, rinse the tank and refill it to the max level.
7. **First rinse**: About 6 minutes. Empty and refit the drip tray and container.
8. **Second rinse**: About 6 minutes. Empty and refill the tank.
9. **Finish**: The lights return to normal when the programme ends. Refit the filter.

The whole job takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Do not start it if you need the machine in the next half hour.

## Cleaning the Krups coffee circuit

1. **Wait for CLEAN**: The CLEAN light flashes when a cycle is requested.
2. **Clean the trays**: Clean and refit the cleaning tray and the grounds collector. Empty and refit the drip tray.
3. **Fill the tank**: Fill it with fresh water.
4. **Place the container**: At least 0.6 litre under the coffee outlets.
5. **Insert the tablet**: Put one KRUPS XS3000 tablet into the cleaning inlet through the servicing flap.
6. **Start**: Press the rinse or servicing key. The cycle takes about 10 minutes, then about 3 for the rinse.
7. **Add water if asked**: The cycle resumes by itself once you refill the tank.

- Keep hands out from under the outlets while it runs.
- If the power fails, start the programme again with a new tablet.
- Complete the cycle.

The cleaning tablet works on coffee oil in the circuit. It does not remove scale, so it does not replace descaling.

## The milk system: One Touch Cappuccino

The EA89 manual gives clear rules for the milk block, and most milk faults trace to skipping one of them.

- Dismantle and clean the milk tube, connector and block with soapy water after each use, then rinse with hot water.
- Run the Milk Cleaning programme from the Maintenance menu with the Krups cleaning liquid and two containers.
- Soak a blocked connector in hot water with washing-up liquid, then rinse and dry it.
- Check the tube is not twisted, is fully seated to stop air leaks and is fully in the milk.
- Use fresh milk in a cold container. The manual lists pasteurised or UHT milk that was recently opened.
- For traces of milk in an Americano or hot water, run a milk rinsing cycle or dismantle and clean the accessory before the drink.

If milk still will not draw after all this, a split or perished tube or a blocked steam path is likely. We replace the tube and clear the steam path.

## The Claris Aqua Filter

Krups fits many of these machines with the Claris Aqua Filter System. The EA89 manual says the filter or low-mineral water protects the taste of the coffee.

- Remove the cartridge before descaling and fit it again afterwards.
- The Info menu shows when to change it, in days or litres.
- When you fit a new cartridge, set the installation month with the grey ring on top.
- The manual lists a new cartridge among the remedies for coffee that comes out too slowly.
- Remove the cartridge when the machine asks you to unplug and restart, if necessary.

A filter lengthens the time between descales and does not remove the need for them.

## Parts we fit on Krups machines

| Part | What it does | Sign of wear |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Brew unit and seals | Presses the grounds and seals the brew | Leaks, slow flow, a unit that sticks |
| Grinder burrs and motor | Grind the beans | Noise, no grind, uneven grind |
| Pump | Pushes water through | Weak flow, loud pump |
| Valves and flow sensor | Direct and measure the water | No coffee, wrong volumes |
| Heater or thermoblock | Heats the water | Cool coffee, no steam |
| Tank float and sensor | Signal the water level | Fill-water warning with a full tank |
| Tray and collector sensors | Signal when full | Empty warning that will not clear |
| Milk tube and connector | Draw milk into the block | No froth, air leaks |
| Steam nozzle and valve | Give steam and hot water | Blocked, weak or dripping |
| Control board and display | Run the machine | Random messages, no response |

All parts are genuine. If Krups has dropped the part for your model, we tell you before we quote.

## What a Krups repair visit includes

Krups machines tell the technician a good deal before a tool comes out, so the visit starts with the machine and not the toolbox.

- We ask what the CLEAN, CALC or screen messages said, and when the machine last had a Krups descaler through it.
- We read the tank float, the tray and collector sensors, because the manuals tie several warnings to them.
- We run a rinse and a grind with the covers off and listen to the pump and the grinder.
- We pull the brew unit and the milk block and look for scale, oil and perished seals.
- You get one price for the repair before anything is fitted.
- After the repair we make a coffee and a milk drink, run the programme the fault affected and show you what changed.
- Everything we fit carries a month of cover.

If the machine was overdue for a descale, we show you the scale. Cleaning and descaling after a repair give the new part a fair start.

## Is it worth repairing a Krups?

We compare the quote with the price of a new machine of the same standard. If it is more than about half, replacing is worth thinking about. Most Krups faults are far below that line.

| Fault | Our usual advice | Reason |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Milk, froth or steam trouble | Repair | Tubes, connector, nozzle and cleaning |
| Coffee drips slowly | Repair | Grind, scale or a blocked path |
| Grinder jammed | Repair | Clear the object and test the burrs |
| Water or tray warnings that will not clear | Repair | Float, sensor or seat |
| Leaks under the machine | Repair | Seals, hoses and the tray |
| Heater on an old machine | Compare the quote | Weigh it against the machine's age |
| Board or display on an old machine | Compare the quote | A quote close to half a new machine tips the balance |
| Several faults and a worn body | Lean to replacing | Wear rarely stops at one part |

When a new machine is the better buy, we say so. You pay the visit fee and nothing more.

## Keeping a Krups running: a plan

| Task | How often |
| --- | --- |
| Empty the grounds collector and drip tray | When the machine asks, and daily in a busy home |
| Refresh the water in the tank | Every day |
| Clean the milk tube, connector and block | After each milk drink |
| Run the milk cleaning programme | As the Maintenance menu prompts |
| Coffee circuit cleaning | When CLEAN or the screen asks, about every 300 coffees on the EA80 |
| Descale | When CALC or the screen asks |
| Change the Claris cartridge | When the Info menu says so |

Go by the machine's own prompts. They follow the number of drinks and the scale, which a calendar cannot track.

## What to tell us when you book

- Which Krups it is. The name on the front is enough if the plate is hard to read.
- A photo of the lights or the screen.
- What happens when you press the button for a coffee.
- The last time a descaler went through, and if a Claris filter is fitted.
- If it makes milk drinks and how the milk block is cleaned.

Tell us which steps from this page you tried, and we pick up from there.

## Eight things to try before you message us

Each of these is quick and rules out a cheaper cause. Take them in order.

1. **Note the message**: Write down what the lights or screen say and photograph it.
2. **Reseat the tank**: Fill it with fresh tap water above the minimum mark and push it fully home. See that the float at the bottom moves.
3. **Reseat the trays**: Empty the drip tray and the grounds collector, refit them fully and wait at least 6 seconds.
4. **Look at the beans**: The manuals blame oily or flavoured beans for weak coffee and say the beans must reach the grinder.
5. **Move the grind**: For slow coffee, turn the fineness knob one step coarser while the grinder is running.
6. **Wash the milk parts**: Take the block, tube and connector apart, wash and refit them.
7. **Power cycle**: Switch off, unplug, remove the filter cartridge, wait a minute and start again.
8. **Do what the machine asks**: If CLEAN, CALC or a programme message is showing, run the programme with the Krups product named for it.

If the fault is still there, you have saved us time, and you can tell us what you ruled out.

## After a few days unused

The EA80 manual gives a rule for a machine that has stood idle. After several days without use, rinse the coffee circuit, about 40 ml, and the steam circuit, about 300 ml, before you make a drink. It also describes a long rinse programme, which needs a receptacle of at least 0.15 litre under the outlets and the steam nozzle, with CLEAN and CALC flashing until the programme finishes.

- Empty the tank and refill it with fresh water before the first drink.
- Run the rinse from the menu or the key your manual names.
- Taste a first cup of hot water before you taste a coffee.
- If the prompt for CLEAN or CALC was already showing when you left, run that programme first.

The EA89 manual adds that the machine may rinse automatically when it switches off, depending on the last recipe, and that a rinse at switch-on can be set in the Settings menu. Warm water running from the outlets when the machine is off is that automatic rinse, and it stops by itself.

## Faults that usually need the workshop

Most Krups jobs finish at your door. These are the ones that tend to leave with us.

| Fault | Why the bench is better |
| --- | --- |
| Brew unit drive or housing damaged | Needs testing out of the machine |
| Grinder motor seized, or burrs chipped | The grinder assembly has to come apart |
| Heater or thermoblock | The machine is stripped down to reach it |
| Board or display | Test and replace on a bench |
| The unplug-and-restart message keeps returning | Several parts need testing one at a time |

We collect the machine, quote before we start and bring it back with a month of cover on the new parts.

## Frequently asked questions

### Who repairs Krups coffee machines in Dubai?

We repair them at your home or office, usually the same day. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 55 209 9785. A new machine under warranty should go back to the shop first.

### How much does Krups coffee machine repair cost in Dubai?

The visit is AED 100 plus VAT. The repair is AED 80 to AED 400 depending on the fault, and the price is agreed before work begins.

### What descaler does a Krups use?

The manuals name the Krups descaler F054, one 40 g sachet. They say damage from other products is not covered.

### What does the CLEAN light flashing mean on a Krups?

On the EA80 range it means a cleaning cycle is requested, roughly every 300 coffees. Run the coffee circuit cleaning with a Krups XS3000 tablet.

### What does the CALC light flashing mean on a Krups?

A descaling cycle is requested because of scale. Run the descaling programme with the F054 sachet and remove the filter first.

### Why will my Krups cleaning or descaling programme not start?

The EA80 manual says the machine only starts them when it has requested them. Wait until CLEAN or CALC flashes.

### How do I clean a Krups coffee maker?

Run the cleaning programme with the Krups tablet when the machine asks, and clean the trays, collector and milk block as the manual describes.

### Why does my Krups say the tank is empty when it is full?

The tank may be wrongly seated, or the float at the bottom may be stuck. Check both. If the message stays, the sensor may need a technician.

### Why is my Krups coffee dripping slowly?

The grind may be too fine. Turn the fineness dial toward coarser while the grinder runs, rinse the machine and clean or descale it if it is due.

### Can I descale a Krups with vinegar?

We do not recommend it. The manuals say to use only Krups descaling products and that damage from other products is not covered.

### What happens if the power fails mid-descale?

The EA86 and EA89 manuals say the programme resumes at the step it reached. The EA80 cleaning programme has to be restarted with a new tablet.

### Do you repair Krups capsule machines?

Yes, including Dolce Gusto and Nespresso models sold under the Krups name. See our Nespresso and Dolce Gusto pages.
