When a Miele coffee machine stops, it usually stops with a message on the display that you cannot clear, and that is the moment most owners search for a repairer. One Click Dubai sends a technician to Miele bean-to-cup machines in homes and offices across Dubai, normally on the day you message us. The range we cover runs through the countertop CM5, CM6 and CM7 machines, the older CM 5000 to 5200 range, and the built-in CVA machines, from the capsule models to the CVA 7000 series.

Most Miele faults come from a short list of causes, and Miele's own support pages say so. A brew unit that needs cleaning or degreasing, a grinder channel packed with ground coffee, a descale that did not run, a milk valve left out, or a sensor reading that something is missing. This page works through them in the order owners meet them, and says plainly which ones you can clear yourself and which need a technician.

It also deals with a question that matters more on a Miele than on most machines: who should repair it. Miele's warranty has terms about who is allowed to open the machine, and the page explains where we fit.

## Miele coffee machine repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

The AED 100 plus 5% VAT visit fee pays for the technician to trace what has failed. You then get a single repair price and choose whether to proceed. On a Miele that price falls between AED 80 and AED 400.

- Same-day visits, with WhatsApp bookings taken at any hour.
- Genuine parts, with the quoted price covering part and labour together.
- No evening or weekend surcharge on the visit.
- One month of cover on everything we fit.

Common Miele jobs are listed below by cost, cheapest first. The order is a rough guide, and only your quote is exact.

| Job | Where it sits in the range |
| --- | --- |
| Brew unit clean and degrease | Lower end |
| Clearing the ground coffee chute and grinder channel | Lower end |
| Descale and flush | Lower end |
| Milk valve, milk tube or central spout seal | Lower end |
| Door, drip tray or waste container sensor | Lower to middle |
| Brew unit seals or drive | Lower to middle |
| Water container valve or inlet | Lower to middle |
| Pump | Middle |
| Flow meter or valve | Middle |
| Grinder motor or burrs | Middle to upper |
| Thermoblock (heating) | Middle to upper |
| Brew unit replacement | Upper end |
| Control board or touch display | Upper end |

The pattern on a Miele is clear. A machine that has had its brew unit cleaned weekly and degreased when prompted usually needs a sensor or a seal. One that has been ignored often needs a unit, a heating part and a board in sequence.

## Which Miele do you have?

Miele names its coffee machines by a code. CM means a countertop machine, and CVA means a built-in one. The code is on a plate inside the door or behind the water container. A photo of it, sent when you book, tells the technician which brew unit and parts to bring.

| Range | What it is | What we see most |
| --- | --- | --- |
| CM 5000, 5100 and 5200 | Older countertop machines still in many homes | Brew unit fault, worn seals, scale |
| CM 5300 to 5500 | Compact countertop machines | Brew unit and F73, scale, milk spray |
| CM 6000 series, including 6x60 | Countertop machines with a milk system, such as MilkPerfection on the 6x60 models | Milk faults, brew unit, descale |
| CM 7000 series | Top countertop machines, with a ground coffee drawer and, on some, automatic descaling with a cartridge | Grinder channel blocks, descale failures, noises |
| Built-in CVA 2000 and 3000 | Older built-in machines, some taking capsules | Grounds container messages, seals |
| Built-in CVA 4000, 5000 and 6000 | Built-in bean-to-cup machines with a central spout | Milk spray, brew unit, door |
| Built-in CVA 7000 | The newer built-in machines | Descale level faults, drip tray, door |

Countertop and built-in machines share most of their parts. The difference for us is access. A built-in machine sits inside a cabinet, and the technician has to take it out of its housing to work on the inside. We do that without marking the cabinet.

## Miele's warranty and service line, and where we fit

Miele states a standard warranty of 24 months from the invoice date, valid in the United Arab Emirates only. It covers domestic, non-commercial use. It excludes repairs or changes made by anyone who is not Miele-trained and authorised, damage from misuse, failure to follow the cleaning and care instructions, non-genuine parts and normal wear. Consumables and accessories are not covered. Miele also says its extended warranty is not available for coffee makers.

Miele's UAE service line is open Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. Service requests can also be sent through the Miele UAE website. While your machine is inside its 24 months, start there. A repair by anyone else may end the warranty, and a Miele coffee machine is worth keeping covered.

After the 24 months, or when the fault is one the warranty excludes, such as an uncleaned brew unit or a descale that was never run, message us. A technician visits your home or office, the diagnosis costs AED 100 plus VAT, the repair price is agreed first, and the work is covered for a month. If you use the machine in a business, the Miele domestic warranty does not apply, and a repair from us is the practical route.

| Your situation | What we suggest |
| --- | --- |
| Under 24 months old, bought in the UAE, with a fault | Contact Miele UAE |
| Bought abroad | Contact Miele in the country of purchase, since the UAE warranty applies in the UAE only |
| Past the 24 months | Book us |
| Fault caused by missed cleaning or descaling | Book us. Warranties do not cover this |
| Machine used in an office or shop | Book us |

We are not part of Miele. Where your machine belongs with Miele, we say so before starting.

## The Miele brew unit: cleaning, degreasing and F73

The brew unit is the heart of the machine, and Miele treats its care as a routine. Most Miele coffee faults are solved by looking after it properly.

### Weekly: clean it by hand

1. **Switch off and unplug**: Take the machine off the mains and open the door.
2. **Remove containers**: Take out the water container. On CVA 5000 and 6000 machines, also remove the grounds container and the chute cover.
3. **Release the unit**: Press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle, turn the handle left and pull the unit out. Do not change the handle's position, or the unit will not go back in.
4. **Rinse**: Rinse the unit by hand under warm running water. Do not use washing-up liquid or any cleaning agent, because they damage the lubricated moving parts.
5. **Wipe and dry**: Wipe the grounds off the filters, dry the funnel so grounds do not stick, and vacuum any dry residue from the inside of the machine.
6. **Refit**: Slide the unit back in straight, hold the button and turn the handle right to lock it.

### When prompted: degrease it

The machine asks for a degrease programme, with a Miele cleaning tablet, after a set number of drinks. On the CM 6160 the prompt comes after every 200 portions and keeps returning until you do it. The programme takes about ten minutes, and it cannot be cancelled once it starts.

On CM and CVA 7000 machines, drop the tablet into the top of the brew unit, lock the unit in, and run the Degrease brew unit or Clean brew unit programme. On CVA 5000 and 6000 machines, choose Degrease brew unit under Maintenance in the main menu and put the tablet in the ground coffee chute when the display tells you to.

### Fault F73: the unit cannot reach its start position

F73 means the brew unit cannot move into its start position. On the older CM 5000, 5100 and 5200 a common cause is removing the drip tray while the unit was still moving. Miele's reset for the CM 53xx to 7xxx machines is as follows.

1. **Confirm**: Press OK to confirm the message.
2. **Switch off**: Switch the machine off and unplug it for two minutes.
3. **Rinse the unit**: Take out the brew unit and rinse it under running water.
4. **Set the ejector**: Push the unit's coffee ejector into its start position.
5. **Let the drive reset**: Leave the unit out, close the door and switch on. The drive moves to its start position and makes a noise.
6. **Refit**: When the display says to insert the brew unit, open the door, fit it and close the door.

If the message returns, Miele's advice is to use less coffee or a finer grind, since some beans grind to a larger volume. If it still returns, the drive or a sensor is at fault, and that is a technician repair.

## No drink, only water, or only a drip

A Miele that runs but gives no coffee, gives water, or drips slowly often has a blocked brew unit. Miele's guidance names it as the first cause for each of these complaints.

| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Nothing dispensed | Brew unit blocked | Clean and degrease the unit |
| Coffee only dripping out of the spout | Brew unit filter blocked | Clean by hand, then degrease. Miele advises doing this weekly |
| Water comes out, not coffee | Brew unit blocked, or no grinding | Clean the unit; check the bean container |
| Central spout moves down but nothing comes out | Blocked unit or a pump or valve fault | Clean the unit first; then book a visit |
| Ground coffee ejected without brewing | Unit not pressing correctly | Clean the unit and check it seats |
| Ground coffee next to the brew unit | Chute blocked or the unit is not seated | Clean the chute; refit the unit |

On the CM 7000 machines there is a second cause: a blocked coffee grinder channel. Miele says to vacuum the ground coffee chute once a year. Open the right-hand door, turn the drawer handle left to take out the ground coffee drawer, put the vacuum attachment into the chute and suction it clean, then refit the drawer.

If the machine still gives no drink after the unit is clean and degreased and the chute is clear, the pump, a valve, or the grinder is the next suspect. We test each before replacing anything.

## Weak coffee and wet grounds

Wet, soggy grounds and weak coffee go together on a Miele, and Miele lists six possible causes. The first three are things you can change.

1. **Partly blocked brew unit filter**: Clean the unit by hand under warm running water, with no washing-up liquid, then run the degrease programme.
2. **Coffee quantity set too low**: Raise it in the drink settings. Miele says the machine can change only about 15 to 20 per cent of a coffee's taste, so if it is still weak, try a different bean.
3. **Grind too coarse**: Set it finer, one step at a time. Large jumps risk damaging the grinder. Make one cup, then judge.
4. **CM 7000: ground coffee chute blocked**: Clean the chute and the ground coffee drawer monthly. Wash the drawer, dry it, wipe the chute with a soft dry cloth, and vacuum the bean container and chute.
5. **CM 7000: grinder channel blocked**: Vacuum it once a year, as described above.
6. **A wet grinder**: Switch off and call a technician. Water in the grinder can ruin the burrs.

The grind advice matters. Miele's slide control moves in steps, and Miele's guidance is to move it exactly one step, make one coffee and repeat. If the slide is jammed or the change makes no difference, the control or the burrs need attention.

## Grinder noises and other sounds

A Miele makes a recognisable set of sounds, and changes in them are useful. Miele's help pages cover several.

| Sound | What it usually means |
| --- | --- |
| Louder grinding than usual | A hard object between the burrs, or worn burrs. Switch off and book a visit |
| Quieter grinding than usual | Most likely beans not feeding or worn burrs |
| Different noises through the grind | Normal changes with bean type, but a sudden harsh scrape is not normal |
| Loud noises when pressing the coffee | Most likely a dry or dirty brew unit, or a drive part under strain |
| Squeaking or creaking from the brew unit | Lubrication has gone. Clean and degrease the unit |
| Noises when the central spout moves down | Most likely a dirty or worn spout mechanism |

A squeaking brew unit is a warning, not a fault, and a degrease often removes it. A harsh grinding sound is the one to stop for at once, because running on chips the burrs. Switch off, empty the bean container and look.

## Miele milk system problems

Miele's countertop and built-in machines draw milk through a valve and a tube, and each model family has its own articles because the parts differ. The causes are shared.

- Milk froth sprays or splutters. Most often the milk path or the valve is partly blocked, or the valve is not fitted correctly. Run the Clean the milk pipework programme and refit the valve.
- Milk is not drawn in. Look for a loose, kinked, split or blocked tube, and check the milk valve is seated.
- Steam comes out instead of milk. Check the milk container is filled and inserted, then clean the milk path.
- Froth is poor or too runny. Cold milk froths better, so check the milk first, then the cleanliness of the path.
- MilkPerfection does not start on the CM 6x60. Check the milk system is assembled and clean. If it still will not start, a technician should look.
- Automatic descaling stops with a message that the milk valve was not inserted. Fit the valve and repeat the process.

Run the milk cleaning programme when the machine prompts you, and rinse the milk system after use. Miele also has a help article on plant-based milks, because some behave differently from cow's milk in a milk system. If you change milk and the froth changes, the milk is the cause.

A new valve or tube costs little and cures many milk faults. If a clean system still gives poor froth, the pump or the steam path is at fault, and that needs a technician.

## Descaling a Miele, and why automatic descaling fails

Miele ties descaling to your water hardness, which you set on the machine. The machine counts down the drinks left before a descale is due and, when the count reaches zero, it locks and makes no drinks until it has been descaled. You can switch it off to postpone, but you cannot make a drink.

1. **Prompt**: When the machine asks, confirm with OK.
2. **Prepare**: Fill the water container to the marked level with lukewarm water and one Miele descaling tablet, and put it in the machine.
3. **Follow the display**: It may ask you to empty the drip tray or refill the container.
4. **Start**: Press OK. The process takes about twelve minutes, and it cannot be cancelled once begun.
5. **Finish**: Let it run to the end, then empty the drip tray and rinse the container.

Miele recommends its own descaling tablets, and warns that other agents containing chlorides or acids other than citric acid can damage the machine. Using the wrong agent or the wrong concentration can fail to descale or harm the machine. Cover nearby surfaces, because descaling solution can mark them, and wipe up any splash at once.

### When automatic descaling does not run

Some CM 7000 machines descale themselves with a cartridge, at a set time. Miele lists the reasons it fails, and nearly all are simple.

| Reason | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| Milk was used and the tube is still in the milk | Put the milk tube into the drip tray when you switch off, then confirm |
| A removable part is missing | Fit the water container, drip tray, brew unit and central spout |
| Water level too low | Fill the water container at least to the descaling symbol |
| The door was open | Close it, confirm, and make sure the machine is ready |
| The machine was not switched off at the start time | Switch off with the On/Off sensor and confirm, or change the start time |
| The cartridge is used up | Confirm with OK and fit a new cartridge |
| Descaling is needed because of hardness or use | Run the maintenance programme with Miele tablets |

On the CVA 7000 built-in machines the display can also say the water level is too high or too low. Repeat the process as it asks. If it keeps failing, a water-level sensor or a valve is faulty, and we test both.

## Miele fault codes

Miele shows its serious faults as F-numbers. The help pages list F0, F1 to F4, F10, F17, F28, F73, F74, F75, F76, F77, F80 to F83, F226, F233, F307 and F352, and they vary by model. Only a few can be cleared at home.

| Code or message | What to try | Book a technician if |
| --- | --- | --- |
| F73 | Follow the reset above | It returns |
| F28, or Clean brew unit by hand | Take out the brew unit, clean it by hand, refit it | It returns |
| Check brew unit | Usually: remove the unit, rinse it and reseat it | It stays |
| Check water inlet and empty water container | Empty the container, refill it and push it fully home | It stays |
| Any other F-number | Switch off, unplug for two minutes, restart once | It returns, always |

Miele's own advice for a fault that persists is to contact Miele customer service or book a repair. A restart clears a fault that was a glitch. A fault that returns is real. One restart is reasonable. After that, stop, because repeated restarts can run a pump or heater against the fault.

## Leaks and water in the wrong place

| What you find | Likely cause | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Drip tray overflowing | The tray is full, or the machine is rinsing more than normal | Empty it, and see if it fills faster than before |
| Water in the grounds container | Wet grounds from a blocked unit, or water leaking from the unit | Clean the unit; book a visit if it continues |
| Coffee spills above the central spout | Spout seal worn or the spout not seated | Refit the spout; book a visit if it continues |
| Water under the machine | A hose, a valve or the pump | Switch off and unplug, then book a visit |
| Water under the drip tray | A tray seal, or a leak inside | Dry it and watch; book a visit if it returns |
| Water around the water container dock | Worn dock seal or container valve | Book a visit |
| Water pumped into the drip tray as the machine heats up | Normal rinsing, but check if it is more than before | Book a visit if it has increased |

Water beneath a Miele that did not come from the tray means unplugging immediately. Behind a built-in machine it can run unseen behind the cabinet front, so act at once.

## Door, drip tray, spout and sensor faults

A Miele will not brew unless it knows that every part is in place. That makes it sensitive to small faults in the sensors.

- The door does not close, or closes with difficulty: coffee dust on the latch, a part not fully seated, or a worn hinge.
- Insert drip tray and grounds container, with both in: dust or damp on the contacts, or a tray that is not fully pushed in.
- Insert central spout, with the spout fitted: the spout is not clicked home or its sensor is dirty.
- Push in water container until it engages: the container is not fully seated, or the valve at its base is blocked.
- Fill the water container, with a full one: the float is stuck with scale, or the sensor has failed.
- The central spout jams the container: a part is out of position.

With the machine off, wipe the contacts dry. If a clean sensor still reads wrongly it has failed, and replacing it sits at the lower-middle of the price range.

## Built-in Miele machines: what is different

A built-in CVA sits in a cabinet and is connected to power behind it. That changes how we repair it.

- We switch off at the isolator and take the machine out of its housing to reach the inside.
- We protect the cabinet, the worktop and the floor, and we clean up before we leave.
- We check the ventilation around the machine, since a machine boxed in without airflow runs hotter.
- We test it in its housing again after the repair, so the door, the tray and the spout all sit right.

If a built-in machine has to leave the kitchen for bench work, we remove it, bring it back and refit it. You are told before it goes.

## Miele machines in offices and shops

Miele sells commercial coffee systems separately, and its domestic warranty is for non-commercial use only. A domestic CM or CVA in an office is therefore outside the warranty.

- Run the brew unit hand-clean weekly, and the degrease programme every time it asks.
- Descale when the countdown ends, and not later. On a busy machine it ends quickly.
- Clean the milk system daily if you serve milk drinks.
- Give one person charge of the machine and keep a dated log.
- Book a check twice a year, so the unit and grinder are inspected before they fail.

Commercial machines from other makers are also on our books, and we will say if a domestic Miele is being worked harder than it was built for.

## A Miele that acts oddly but is not broken

Miele's help pages carry articles on behaviour that owners report as faults, and several come down to a mode or a setting.

- A machine that makes no drinks and does not seem broken may be in demo mode. Miele has articles on activating and deactivating it on the CM 53xx to 57xx machines. Switch it off in the settings.
- A new machine that will not prepare coffee at first may not have finished its initial commissioning. Complete the set-up steps the display asks for.
- A machine that rinses itself when you switch it on or off is running its rinse programme. Water goes into the drip tray, so empty the tray when it fills.
- A fan that runs for a while after switch-off, or a cup rest that stays warm, is the machine cooling down. Miele has articles on both because owners ask.
- Lights or a start that happen by themselves may come from the timer setting. Check the switch-on time in the settings.

If the behaviour matches one of these, the fix is in the menu. If it does not, and especially if a message returns, treat it as a fault.

## Water hardness and the beans you use

Two settings decide how often a Miele asks for care, and both are in your hands.

- Set the water hardness in the machine's settings. Miele ties the descaling countdown to it. A hardness set too low makes the machine ask for descaling too rarely, and scale builds up unseen. Miele has a help article on setting it.
- Use beans the machine suits. Miele lists a wrong bean type among its help articles. Very oily beans, or beans coated with flavouring or sugar, leave a film in the grinder channel and the chute and bring on the blockages described above.
- Keep spare beans sealed and cool, and keep the bean container out of direct sun.
- Wipe the bean container now and then, since oil builds up on its walls.

A change of beans that suddenly gives weak coffee or a blocked chute points to the beans. Go back to the old ones to find out.

## Repair or replace a Miele

Miele machines hold their value, and a repair is usually good sense.

| Your Miele and the fault | Our honest view |
| --- | --- |
| Brew unit, chute, seals, milk valve, sensors | Repair. It is cheap |
| Pump, valve or flow meter | Repair |
| Grinder or heating on a CM 6000, CM 7000 or CVA | Repair if the machine is not very old |
| Control board or display | Ask for a quote first. It is the dearest repair |
| Older CM 5000, 5100 or 5200 with several faults | Weigh it against a new machine |
| A machine that has never been cleaned, with a failed unit and heater | Often replace |

Our cut-off is a quote near half the cost of a similar new machine. Because a Miele costs so much, that line is rarely reached, so most repairs are worth doing.

## The Miele care schedule

| How often | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| Daily | Empty the tray and grounds container when asked, and rinse the milk system after milk drinks |
| Weekly | Take out the brew unit and rinse it by hand under warm water. Clean the inside of the machine |
| When prompted, about every 200 portions on some models | Degrease the brew unit with a Miele cleaning tablet |
| Monthly, CM 7000 | Clean the ground coffee drawer and chute |
| Yearly, CM 7000 | Vacuum the grinder channel |
| When prompted | Run the milk cleaning programme and descale |

Following the schedule is the cheapest way to keep a Miele out of the workshop. It is also the thing the warranty expects of you.

## What happens at a Miele repair visit

1. **Your message**: Send the model code, the exact display message and what you have already tried, with a picture of the plate.
2. **Messages and reset**: The technician reads the message, tries the correct reset and takes out the brew unit to look at it.
3. **Grinder and chute**: The grinder is run and heard, and the chute and drawer are checked for packed coffee.
4. **Water side**: Flow, pump, valves and the heater are tested, and the machine is checked for scale and leaks.
5. **Quote and fix**: One price is given. On your approval the part goes in straight away, if we have it with us.
6. **Final check**: We make an espresso and a milk drink, test the door and tray, and leave an invoice with a month of cover.

No machine leaves without your agreement.

## Frequently asked questions

### Who repairs Miele coffee machines in Dubai?

Within Miele's 24-month warranty, start with Miele UAE. Beyond it, or for faults the warranty excludes, we repair Miele machines where they stand, normally on the day you message us. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 55 209 9785.

### How much does a Miele coffee machine repair cost in Dubai?

The visit that finds the fault is AED 100 plus VAT. Repair then ranges from AED 80 to AED 400 and is agreed before we begin.

### Why is my Miele only giving water or dripping?

The brew unit is probably blocked. Take it out, rinse it by hand under warm water with no washing-up liquid, and run the degrease programme. On a CM 7000, also vacuum the grinder channel.

### What does F73 mean on a Miele?

The brew unit cannot reach its start position. Confirm the message, switch off and unplug for two minutes, remove and rinse the unit, set the ejector, switch on without the unit, then refit it when asked.

### Why are my Miele coffee grounds wet and the coffee weak?

The brew unit filter may be partly blocked, the coffee quantity may be too low, or the grind too coarse. Clean the unit, raise the quantity and move the grind one step finer.

### Can I wash the Miele brew unit with washing-up liquid?

No. Rinse it by hand under warm running water only. Cleaning agents damage the lubricated moving parts.

### How often should I clean the brew unit on a Miele?

Miele advises a hand rinse once a week, and a degrease programme with a cleaning tablet when the machine prompts you.

### Can I use any descaler in a Miele?

Miele recommends its own tablets. Other agents that contain chlorides or acids other than citric acid can damage the machine.

### Why did automatic descaling not run on my Miele CM 7750?

Typical reasons are milk left in the tube, a missing part, a low water level, an open door, or a machine not switched off at the start time. Miele's help pages list each.

### Does repairing my Miele myself or through you affect the warranty?

Miele's warranty excludes repairs by anyone who is not Miele-trained and authorised. If your machine is within 24 months, contact Miele first.

### My Miele makes no drinks and shows no fault. What is wrong?

It may be in demo mode, or it may not have finished its initial set-up. Check the settings for demo mode, which Miele lets you switch off, and complete any set-up steps the display asks for.

### Why does my Miele rinse every time I switch it on?

The rinse programme runs at switch-on and switch-off, and the water goes into the drip tray. It is normal, but empty the tray when it fills.

### Do you repair built-in Miele coffee machines?

Yes. We take the machine out of its housing, repair it, test it in place and protect your cabinet.

### Is it worth repairing a Miele coffee machine?

Usually yes. Miele machines are built to be serviced, and most repairs cost far less than a new machine.
