Sunbeam is an Australian appliance brand, and its espresso machine booklets are written for Australia and New Zealand. They quote Australian and New Zealand consumer law, name customer care lines that begin 1300 and 0800, and say nothing about the Gulf. A Sunbeam machine in Dubai has therefore left the market its paperwork was written for, and that changes what you can expect from the warranty, from spare parts and from the plug.

The machines themselves are well documented. The booklets for the Barista Max EM5300, Barista Plus EMM5400, Café Latte EM5600, Café Espresso EM3600 and the automatic Caffe Bellissimo EM9300 carry troubleshooting tables, light meanings, cleaning cycles and descaling methods. This page sets those side by side, shows where one booklet disagrees with another, and says plainly where the text stopped.

If your Sunbeam is leaking from the group head, not grinding, not steaming or stuck in a cycle, message us. We come to your address, tell you what is wrong and what it costs, and wait for your yes before any part is fitted.

## Sunbeam coffee machine repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

A diagnostic visit costs AED 100 plus 5% VAT. When a repair follows, the price is between AED 80 and AED 400 depending on the fault, agreed with you before the work starts.

- Tell us the model code (EM5300, EMM5400, EM5600, EM3600, EM4800C, EM9300) or the name printed on the front.
- Parts we fit are genuine. For a Sunbeam we tell you before ordering whether the part can be sourced here.
- One month of warranty covers the parts and labour of what we do.
- The visit is at your home or office. A machine that has to go to the workshop is collected from you.

| Fault | What we look at |
| --- | --- |
| Coffee runs or squirts down the side of the group head | Group head seal, shower head, basket seat, handle tabs |
| No espresso, or a trickle after descaling | Pump, flow through the heating block, scale, group head |
| Handle loose or ejecting | Seal, handle tabs, basket |
| No steam, or a wand that screeches | Steam wand tip, valve, heating block |
| Grinder will not start or shows an overheat warning | Hopper lock, hopper gates, motor, burrs |
| Machine will not switch on | Plug and socket, cord, switch, internal supply |
| Temperature, valve or brewing unit message (EM9300) | Heating, valve, brewing unit |
| Pump noise that stays after refilling | Reservoir seat, packaging plug, pump, priming |

When a quote starts to approach the price of a new machine, you hear that from us before we begin.

## Which Sunbeam do you have?

| Model | What the booklet says |
| --- | --- |
| EM5300 Barista Max | Integrated grinder, 2.8 litre reservoir, 250 g hopper with 30 grind settings, 92 degree default brew temperature (88 to 96 degrees adjustable) |
| EMM5400 Barista Plus | Integrated grinder, shot timer and a cleaning cycle with its own blue CLEAN light |
| EM5600 Café Latte | 15 bar pump, 2.1 litre reservoir, 230 to 240 V, 92 to 94 degree espresso, warming plate for up to 9 cups |
| EM3600 and EM3800 Café Espresso | 15 bar pump, 1.6 litre reservoir (EM3600) |
| EM4800C Café Crema | 15 bar pump, 2.1 litre reservoir, 92 degrees |
| EM9300 Caffe Bellissimo | Automatic with a milk system, 1.4 litre tank, hopper expandable to 450 g |
| Café Series Duo (EMM7200) | 3 litre tank with an anti-calc filter, 58 mm group head, 4 bar steam pump |

A Carrefour UAE listing sells a Sunbeam Origins Classic espresso machine, black, marked International Version, from a third-party seller at AED 1,699 including VAT. It lists a built-in conical burr grinder, a 58 mm group head and one-button cleaning. The model code is on the base of the machine; send a photo with your message.

## A machine written for Australia, running in Dubai

Four things need checking on any Sunbeam that did not come from a Gulf shelf: voltage, plug, who stands behind it and what protects the circuit.

| Question | Answer |
| --- | --- |
| Does the voltage fit? | The EM5600 booklet gives 230 to 240 V AC. The EM9300 booklet gives no voltage and tells you to use the outlet voltage marked on the appliance. UAE mains is 230 V (our knowledge, not the booklets'). Read the label on your own machine |
| Does the plug fit? | In our knowledge an Australian plug has flat angled pins and UAE sockets take the UK three-pin type, so an Australian-market machine needs an adapter or a changed plug. This is our note, not Sunbeam's |
| Who sells Sunbeam here? | The Carrefour UAE listing names a third-party seller. It offers optional extended warranty plans of 1 year for AED 64 and 2 years for AED 128, and does not state the manufacturer's own warranty |
| Does Sunbeam service it here? | We are an independent technician and not an authorised service partner of Sunbeam. Every contact in the booklets is Australian or New Zealand |
| What protects the circuit? | Sunbeam recommends a residual current device with a rated current of 30 mA or less, and says not to use an extension cord unless a qualified technician has checked it |

- Read the label for 230 to 240 V before you plug in.
- Use a proper adapter or a fitted plug, never a bent pin.
- Do not run the machine from an extension cord.
- If a machine trips the breaker on first connection, leave it unplugged and message us.

## Sunbeam warranty and service: what applies in Dubai

| Booklet | What it says |
| --- | --- |
| EM5600 and EM3600 | A 12 Month Replacement Guarantee: Sunbeam replaces the unit free of charge if it malfunctions within 12 months of purchase (3 months for commercial use) through faulty materials or manufacture. It excludes misuse, negligent handling, normal wear and tear, and freight and claim costs. Keep the receipt as proof of purchase. Australian Consumer Law and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act rights are stated to remain |
| EM9300 | Within 12 months of purchase Sunbeam says it will repair the machine free of charge for faulty materials or manufacture. Proof of purchase is required, and Sunbeam decides between repair and replacement |
| EM5300 and EMM5400 | Warranty claims go to Sunbeam Customer Care in Australia or New Zealand. A damaged unit goes to a Sunbeam Appointed Service Centre |
| EM4800C | A coffee hotline, which is Australian |

The EM5600 and EM3600 promise a replacement, while the EM9300 promises a repair. They are different promises from the same brand, so read the one that came with your model.

None of these texts names the countries where the guarantee applies, and every contact in them is Australian or New Zealand. If a seller here gave you a warranty, it is the seller's, and you should ask for the terms in writing. Where there is no cover or it has ended, our one-month guarantee covers the parts and the work we do. We are independent of Sunbeam.

## Group head seal: the part the booklets talk about most

| Booklet | What it says about the seal |
| --- | --- |
| EM5600 and EM3600 | Typically needs replacing about every 12 months. Steam escaping around the group head during a pour is the sign of wear. Call Sunbeam to arrange the replacement. The booklet also says not to leave the filter handle attached during long periods of non-use |
| EM5300 and EMM5400 | The seal wears with use. Replace it if espresso leaks around the handle or the handle is loose. Consult Sunbeam before replacing it. A new seal makes the handle tight to turn for the first few uses and beds in |
| EM5300 | Do not leave the handle inserted in the group head when the machine is not in use |

- A handle that is loose or comes off in extraction has three causes in the EM5300 table besides the seal: not attached correctly, not tightened enough, and no filter basket in the handle.
- A tight handle on a new seal is described as normal.
- Espresso that squirts down the side of the group head lists the seal alongside a grind that is too fine, too much coffee, grinds tamped too hard, loose grinds on the basket rim and a dirty rim, seal or shower head.
- The booklets give no part number or price, and Sunbeam asks you to consult it first. We tell you whether the seal can be sourced before we order it.

A seal worn through is a small repair. A fresh seal that still leaks points to the handle, the basket or the group head itself.

## Espresso faults on the EM5300 and EMM5400

The EMM5400 text kept its remedies, and those are shown where we could confirm them.

| Symptom | Causes the booklets list | Remedy the EMM5400 gives |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Group handle tight to turn | A new group head seal that has not bedded in | Keep using it; the seal beds in |
| Handle loose, or comes off in extraction | Handle not attached or tightened correctly; no filter basket fitted; worn seal | Consult Sunbeam about the seal |
| Espresso squirts or trickles down the side of the group head | Grind too fine; too much coffee; tamped too hard; loose grinds on the basket rim; dirty rim, seal or shower head | Coarser grind setting, less coffee, a lighter tamp |
| Espresso too cold | Beans stored in the fridge or freezer; a custom brew temperature; a cold cup or handle | Store beans in a dry airtight container in a cool dark cupboard |
| No espresso | No water in the reservoir | Fill the reservoir, then prime through the group head |
| Unusual pump noise | The red plug from the packaging may still be fitted | Remove the red packaging plug at the base of the reservoir |

- The red packaging plug is worth checking on any machine that has never been used.
- Brew temperature runs from 88 to 96 degrees on the EM5300, with 92 as the default. A custom temperature that someone saved is a listed cause of cold espresso, so restore the default before assuming a fault.
- The EMM5400 beeps when it has no water, when a custom setting is saved and when a cleaning or descaling cycle finishes.

## Café Latte and Café Espresso: the EM5600 and EM3600 faults

These two use a thermoblock heater, a 15 bar pump and a dial, and their booklets carry the same set of headings. The EM5600 text gives the following.

| Problem | What the booklet says to do |
| --- | --- |
| Coffee runs down the side of the filter handle | Reseat the handle firmly on the group head, clean the filter edge and group head, and contact Sunbeam if the head or seal is defective or damaged |
| No coffee | Check the reservoir has water and is seated, that the operating dial was off before start-up and that the group is not blocked. Blockage is attributed to grounds that are too fine or tamped too hard, or to scale |
| Coffee pours in drops | The grind is too fine or the grounds are too compacted |
| No crema | Coffee that is stale, under-compacted, too coarse or underdosed |
| Handle comes off during brewing | Tamp more lightly, use a coarser grind, reseat the handle and clean its edge |
| Coffee too cold | Preheat the cups, filter and handle; heat milk properly without boiling it |
| No steam or poor froth | Clean any blocked nozzle; use fresh, well-chilled milk and a stainless steel jug |
| Uneven filling of the cups | Tamp evenly and clear the spouts; a defective baffle needs service |
| Burnt taste | Try a different coffee, and run a full reservoir of water through after descaling |
| Pump noise, or the machine will not operate | Refill and reseat the reservoir, then clean or descale the group head |

- A grey cleaning pin clears the filter and a black pin clears the steam nozzle.
- A baffle fault is the one entry that sends you straight to service, and the booklet says the same for a damaged group head or seal.
- The EM5600 goes to standby after 1 hour of non-use and switches off after a further 26 hours, so a dark machine is not necessarily a faulty one.

## Grinder faults on the Barista Max and Barista Plus

| What you see | What the booklet says |
| --- | --- |
| GRIND flashes and the display shows '- -' (EMM5400) | The bean hopper is not seated, or the hopper gates are closed. Turn the hopper clockwise to lock it and open the gates fully |
| Three beeps when the grinding cradle is pressed (EMM5400) | The grinder motor is in overheating protection. Leave the grinder for 5 minutes |
| Grinder light red (EM5300) | Overheat protection; the same rest applies |
| No coffee grinds from the outlet (EMM5400) | Check there are beans in the hopper, that the gates are open, and clean the chamber or outlet if it is blocked |

- The EM5300 booklet asks you to contact Sunbeam before adjusting the bottom burr, and says not to add shims without consulting it.
- Keep hands away from the burrs while the grinder runs, and unplug before touching moving grinder parts.
- In a dishwasher, the EMM5400 booklet allows the top burr and the grind bin on the top shelf only.

A grinder that returns to the warning after the 5 minute rest, or does not start with the hopper locked and the gates open, is a repair at your address.

## Reading the lights and beeps

The EMM5400 booklet describes its lights as follows.

| Light or sound | Meaning in the EMM5400 booklet |
| --- | --- |
| ON/OFF pulsing | Heating up |
| ON/OFF fully lit | Ready |
| ON/OFF off | Sleep mode, entered after 20 minutes of non-use |
| GRIND lit | The grinder is ready |
| POUR lit | The shot timer and extraction buttons are ready |
| DIAL flashing | The dial must return to vertical |
| STEAM flashing | Heating, or purging |
| STEAM fully lit | Steam is ready |
| CLEAN blue | A cleaning cycle is required |

The Café Series Duo booklet, in the text, shows the STANDBY light pulsing while the heater warms, FILL TANK when water is low, eco mode after 1 hour of non-use and a switch-off after a further 4 hours.

A machine in sleep mode is not faulty. Press a button before you message us.

## EM9300 Caffe Bellissimo: messages and the milk system

The EM9300 is the automatic.

| Display or symptom | Cause the booklet gives | What it says to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| STOP | The water tank is empty | Fill the water tank |
| Waste container missing | The container is not fitted | Replace the waste container |
| Brewing unit blocked | A technical fault | Remove the unit and loosen it using the tool on the measuring spoon |
| Coffee or steam temperature error; motor valve 1 error | Overheating or a valve fault | Switch off, wait about 30 minutes and restart. If it recurs, call the customer service hotline |
| No milk froth, or milk not dispensed | The milk system is not connected | Check the milk system connection |
| Low quality froth | A clogged froth nozzle | Clean the froth nozzle |
| Display says the tank is empty when it is full | Air in the system | Dispense a little hot water |
| Machine will not switch on | Not plugged in | Insert the mains plug |

- The booklet gives no voltage, and says to use an outlet matching the voltage marked on the appliance.
- Water tank capacity is 1.4 litres, and the bean container can be increased to 450 g.
- The service number is printed two different ways inside the same booklet, which looks like a misprint. Use the number printed on your own copy.
- Photograph the display when it appears.

### Milk system cleaning

1. **Fill**: Pour 250 ml of warm water into a container and add half a capful of Sunbeam liquid descaler. As an alternative, dissolve one teaspoon of bicarbonate soda in 250 ml of warm water.
2. **Place the tube**: Put the milk tube into the container with its slanted end at the bottom.
3. **Start**: Press the button for the milk cleaning programme. The solution drains into the drip tray.
4. **Rinse**: Empty the container, refill it with 250 ml of warm water, put the tube back and press the button to continue.
5. **Finish**: Empty the waste container when prompted. The machine switches itself off after 60 seconds.

The booklet adds that two cold packs in the milk box keep milk cold for up to 3 hours, and that the waste container should be emptied after about 16 coffees.

## Steam wand and milk on the espresso models

| Sound or symptom | Meaning in the booklets |
| --- | --- |
| Smooth hissing | Right for a latte (EMM5400) |
| Gurgling | The tip is not deep enough, so raise the jug (EMM5400) |
| Screeching | The tip is too deep, so lower the jug (EMM5400) |
| Poor froth or no steam (EM5600) | Clean any blocked nozzle; use fresh, well-chilled milk and a stainless steel jug |

- The EMM5400 says to use cold milk at about 4 degrees, filled to the bottom of the spout, and to stop when the milk reaches 60 to 70 degrees or when the base of the jug is too hot to hold for about 3 seconds.
- Do not boil the milk. The EMM5400 puts the point at which it develops a burnt taste and loses its texture at about 72 degrees.
- The EM5600 gives 60 to 65 degrees for milk texturing.
- Wipe and purge the steam wand after every texturing. On the EM5600, dried milk is loosened by wrapping the wand in a damp cloth, running steam for about 10 seconds and leaving it to soak for about 5 minutes. The booklet says never to use an abrasive pad on the wand.

A wand that stays blocked after this routine, or that has no pressure with a full reservoir, is a repair.

## Descaling a Sunbeam: the booklets compared

| Booklet | Products and method |
| --- | --- |
| EM5300 Barista Max | Every 4 to 6 months. A Sunbeam tablet, Sunbeam liquid descaler, or white vinegar (1½ tablespoons in the reservoir plus 1 litre of warm water). Hold ON/OFF and TWO CUP for 4 seconds, turn the dial to STEAM, and the cycle takes about 10 minutes |
| EMM5400 Barista Plus | Every 4 to 6 months. One tablet in 1 litre of warm water, or liquid descaler, or white vinegar with warm water (no amount given). Containers under the group head and steam wand. Hold ON/OFF and TWO CUP for 4 seconds to start; about 10 minutes |
| EM5600 and EM3600 | Every 4 to 6 months. A tablet in about 1 litre of warm water; one capful of liquid descaler in about 1.5 litres; or 3 tablespoons of vinegar in about 1.5 litres of warm water. Remove the shower screen, run about half through the group head, wait 10 to 15 minutes, run the rest, then rinse. Never run descaler through the steam wand |
| EM9300 Caffe Bellissimo | When the machine prompts. One descaling tablet in 250 ml of tap water, about 10 minutes, without interruption. If power fails, restart the programme. |

Sunbeam lists white vinegar as an option in the EM5300, EMM5400, EM5600 and EM3600 booklets, but the amounts differ: 1½ tablespoons with 1 litre on the EM5300, 3 tablespoons with about 1.5 litres on the EM5600 and EM3600, and no amount at all on the EMM5400. We do not merge those numbers. Use the ratio in your own booklet, and if your booklet gives none, use a Sunbeam tablet.

### The EMM5400 cycle in three steps

1. **Start**: Fill the reservoir with 1 litre of warm water and one descaling tablet. Put containers under the group head and the steam wand. Hold ON/OFF and TWO CUP together for 4 seconds.
2. **Step 1**: Turn the dial to STEAM and wait until the hot water stops, then return the dial to vertical.
3. **Step 2**: Rinse the reservoir, fill it to the 1 litre line with cold water and empty the containers.
4. **Step 3**: Turn the dial to STEAM again to purge. When the water stops, the cycle is complete.

- If the cycle is interrupted, the EMM5400 says to start again from the beginning.
- The EM5300 descaling section lists the tablet as EM0010 while its accessories list shows EM0020. If you buy tablets, check the code with the seller.
- On the EM5600 and EM3600, the burnt taste that follows a descale is tied to insufficient rinsing. Run a full reservoir through.

We do not use vinegar on a machine whose own booklet does not offer it.

## Cleaning cycle and care schedule

### Cleaning cycle on the EMM5400

1. **Prepare**: Use at least 1 litre of water and empty the drip tray.
2. **Load**: Put the two cup filter basket and the cleaning disc in the group handle, with one cleaning tablet in the centre of the disc, and insert the handle into the group head.
3. **Start**: Press and hold ON/OFF and MANUAL SHOT together for 4 seconds.
4. **Wait**: The cycle takes about 7 minutes and can be stopped at any time with ON/OFF.
5. **Finish**: Purge the group head with the ONE CUP button, then wash the drip tray, group handle and cleaning disc.

| Part | Schedule in the EMM5400 booklet |
| --- | --- |
| Drip tray and grind bin | Empty when the red water level indicator shows; clean weekly |
| Group handle and filter basket | Rinse after every use; wash in mild detergent at regular intervals |
| Group head and shower head | Run water before each espresso; clean weekly with the cleaning brush |
| Steam wand | Wipe and purge after every milk texturing; soak every 2 to 3 months |
| Filter baskets | Soak every 2 to 3 months |
| Grinding cradle and grind outlet | Clean weekly |
| Bean hopper | Every 2 to 3 months if used daily |
| Burrs | Every 1 to 2 months if used daily |

### Cleaning programme on the EM9300

The EM9300 programme takes about 8 minutes and should not be interrupted. Fill the tank with 1 litre of water, open the bean container lid and the powder shaft lid, drop one cleaning tablet into the powder shaft and follow the prompts, emptying the drip tray when asked. The booklet recommends discarding the first cup afterwards.

## What goes in the dishwasher

| Group | EMM5400 parts |
| --- | --- |
| Dishwasher safe | Stainless steel milk jug, stainless steel drip tray grill, stainless steel one cup and two cup filter baskets, cleaning disc |
| Top shelf only | Hardened stainless steel top burr, grind bin |
| Not dishwasher safe | Water reservoir, group handle, bean hopper, drip tray, tamper, cleaning pin, cleaning brush |

This is the EMM5400 list. Other models differ, so check your own booklet before loading the rack. The EMM5400 booklet names the group handle as not dishwasher safe.

## Safety notes from the booklets

- Place the machine on a flat, level surface and do not use it inside a cabinet.
- Do not operate it without water in the reservoir.
- Do not remove the group handle during the pour or while water is flowing. The unit is under pressure.
- Keep hands away from steam, hot water, the espresso pour and the grinder burrs.
- Unplug before cleaning or touching moving grinder parts.
- Use a residual current device of 30 mA or less, and no extension cord unless a qualified technician has checked it.
- Children should not clean or maintain the appliance without supervision.
- A damaged unit goes to a Sunbeam Appointed Service Centre.

The last line is the booklet's. We quote before we start and tell you what can be sourced.

## Where the booklets stop and a technician starts

| Situation | What the booklets say | What we do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Coffee still runs down the handle after reseating and cleaning | Contact Sunbeam if the head or seal is defective | Inspect the seal, basket and group head |
| No coffee after cleaning and descaling | Clean or descale the group head | Test the pump and flow |
| Grinder warning returns after the 5 minute rest | Leave it for 5 minutes | Test the motor and burr seat |
| Temperature or valve message returns (EM9300) | Contact customer service | Test the heating and valve |
| Bottom burr adjustment | Contact Sunbeam, no shims | Inspect and quote |
| Warranty question | Australian and New Zealand contacts only | Tell you what we found; ask your seller |

A booklet can say what a light means. It cannot tell you what is inside the machine.

## Offices and small cafés

The EM5600 and EM3600 give 3 months of guarantee for commercial use against 12 months for home use. A Sunbeam in a shop or office kitchen starts with the shorter cover, so ask the seller in writing what applies to business use.

- Stick a dated label under the reservoir after each descale, so the 4 to 6 month window is easy to check.
- Count how many drinks come out in a normal week, and tell us when you book.
- We service commercial machines and offer service plans, with visits set to your volume.

Plan terms are given on request. We do not list a price here.

## Buying a Sunbeam second-hand or from an international seller

The booklets give two things to hold onto at purchase: the 12 month period and the proof of purchase. The rest of this list is ours.

- Read the label for the voltage and ask whether the plug has been changed.
- Ask for the receipt. Sunbeam's guarantee texts need it.
- Ask what warranty the seller gives, since Sunbeam's contacts are Australian.
- Look at the group head seal, the shower head and the handle.
- Check the red packaging plug at the base of the reservoir has been removed.
- Test the grinder, if there is one, and watch which lights come on.
- Run a descale if nobody can say when the last one was.

A second-hand Sunbeam sold without its cleaning disc, pins or brush loses part of the cleaning routine the booklet describes.

## What happens on a visit

1. **Contact us**: Send the model, the fault and your location.
2. **Booking**: Same-day slots are offered when the diary has room.
3. **Label and plug**: We read the label and check the plug and socket first.
4. **Tests**: Group head, seal, handle, pump, steam, grinder and lights.
5. **Price**: You hear the price, and a part is ordered only after your approval.
6. **Test shot**: A shot is pulled while you watch.
7. **Guarantee**: One month on the parts and labour.

A machine that must go to the workshop is collected, and you get a return date before it leaves.

## Repair or replace a Sunbeam?

The booklets give no guidance on when to stop. This is our view.

| Fault | Our view |
| --- | --- |
| Group head seal, handle, basket | Worth repairing |
| Scale and a stalled flow | Worth repairing |
| Grinder motor or burr | Get the quote first |
| Pump or heating block | Compare the quote with a new machine |
| A machine with a valid seller warranty | Use the warranty first |

If you buy again, ask which market the machine was made for and who stands behind its warranty.

## Before you message us: a check in order

This order is ours, built from the tables above. It needs no tools.

1. **Wake it**: Press a button. A machine in sleep mode is not faulty.
2. **Water**: Is the reservoir full and pressed down? On a machine new to you, is the red packaging plug gone?
3. **Handle**: Is the basket fitted, the handle fully turned and the rim clean?
4. **Grind and dose**: Coarser grind, less coffee, lighter tamp, one change at a time.
5. **Defaults**: On the EM5300 or EMM5400, restore the 92 degree brew temperature if someone saved a custom one.
6. **Light**: Which light is on, and is it flashing or steady? Write it down.
7. **Descale**: More than 4 to 6 months since the last one?
8. **Stop there**: If nothing here changes the result, unplug the machine and message us.

## What to tell us when you book

- The model code and the voltage on the label.
- Which light or message is on.
- What the machine does: leaks, no shot, no steam, no grind.
- The date of the last descale and what you used.
- Where you bought the machine and what plug it has.
- Whether the seal has ever been replaced.
- Your area.

Add what you have tried, so we do not repeat it.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does Sunbeam coffee machine repair cost in Dubai?

A visit is AED 100 plus 5% VAT. The repair is quoted at AED 80 to AED 400 by fault, and we begin when you accept.

### Is there a Sunbeam service centre in Dubai?

Sunbeam's booklets list Australian and New Zealand contacts only, and a Carrefour UAE listing describes its Sunbeam as an International Version from a third-party seller.

### Why does my Sunbeam leak at the group head?

The EM5300 booklet lists a worn seal, a handle not secured, no basket in the handle, a dirty rim or shower head, and grinds that are too fine, too much or tamped too hard.

### How often should the group head seal be replaced?

The EM5600 booklet says about every 12 months. The EM5300 and EMM5400 booklets say to replace it when espresso leaks or the handle is loose, and to consult Sunbeam first.

### Why does my grinder beep three times?

The EMM5400 booklet says the grinder motor is in overheating protection. Leave it for 5 minutes.

### Can I descale with vinegar?

The EM5300, EM5600 and EM3600 booklets give vinegar amounts, the EMM5400 lists it without an amount, and the EM9300 text does not mention it. Use the amount in your own booklet.

### How often should I descale?

The booklets say every 4 to 6 months, depending on water hardness and use. The EM9300 uses an on-screen prompt.

### What does the blue CLEAN light mean?

On the EMM5400 it means a cleaning cycle is required. That is separate from descaling.

### Does the Australian plug fit in Dubai?

The booklets do not say. In our knowledge, UAE sockets are the UK type, so an Australian-market machine needs an adapter or a changed plug.

### Is my warranty valid in the UAE?

The booklets quote Australian and New Zealand law and list only Australian and New Zealand contacts. Ask your seller for the warranty in writing.

### Can I use a Sunbeam in an office?

The EM5600 and EM3600 give commercial use 3 months of guarantee against 12 for home use. Ask the seller first.

### Is it worth repairing a Sunbeam?

A seal, handle, basket or descale is worth doing. For a pump or heating fault, compare the quote with a new machine.
