Overview
A One Click Dubai technician can reach your Nescafé Dolce Gusto the same day, at home or in the office. We repair the Piccolo XS, Mini Me, Genio S, Genio S Plus, Genio S Touch, Esperta, Lumio, Circolo, Oblo and Drop, and on the older Krups-built and De'Longhi-built machines that are still in daily use.
Dolce Gusto machines are the cheapest coffee machines most people own, and that changes how a repair should be judged. A new Piccolo costs a few hundred dirhams, so a visit that costs more than the machine is not a good deal. This page is written with that in mind. It explains what each light and symptom means, which faults you can clear yourself, which ones are worth a technician's time, and when buying a new machine is the sensible choice.
We repair on site wherever we can, and we tell you honestly if a repair is poor value before you pay anything beyond the diagnostic.
Nescafé Dolce Gusto repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs
The first step is an AED 100 plus 5% VAT visit, where the technician works out what is wrong. You are then given a single price and decide. Repairs on these machines run from AED 80 to AED 400.
For a low-priced machine the cost question is the first one to settle, so here it is plainly. If your machine is a Piccolo or a Mini Me and the fault is a blocked needle or scale, the repair is cheap and worth doing. If the fault is a failed pump or a dead board, the repair may cost more than a replacement. Message us, describe what is happening, and we will tell you before we book a visit whether it is likely to be worth it.
Below, the common Dolce Gusto jobs are ranked by cost. Read it as a rough ordering, not as prices.
Scale is behind most of the dear ones. A Dolce Gusto that has been descaled every few months seldom needs more than a seal or a needle. One that has run for two years on tap water without it often needs a heating part. Our guide to descaling a Dolce Gusto gives Dolce Gusto's own steps.
Which Dolce Gusto do you have?
Dolce Gusto machines come from two manufacturers, Krups and De'Longhi, and the models vary a lot in how they work. The name is printed on the front and the model code is on a label under the machine or behind the tank. A photo of that label when you book tells us which parts to expect.
The difference that matters most is manual or automatic. A manual machine has a lever and a mechanical selector, and fewer things to fail. An automatic one adds a flow meter, a board and sensors, and it fails in more ways. That does not make automatic machines worse, but it changes what a repair costs.
Jashanmal or One Click Dubai? Who should repair your Dolce Gusto
Nescafé Dolce Gusto machines in the UAE are supported by Jashanmal for after-sales service. Its service line and email are on its website, and its hours are given as Saturday to Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm. Dolce Gusto's regional customer service handles spare parts and a machine that has stopped working.
If your machine is new and the fault looks like a defect, start there. Check the card in the box or the receipt for the length, and ask them whether the fault is covered. Taking a covered machine apart yourself, or handing it to an unapproved repairer, may cost you the warranty.
If the warranty has run out, the cause is scale, or you would rather not carry a machine across the city, message us. We come to you for AED 100 plus VAT, name the repair price before starting, and stand behind the work for a month.
We are an independent repairer. We are not Nescafé Dolce Gusto's service centre, and we tell you if a machine is better sent to them or replaced.
What the lights on your Dolce Gusto mean
Dolce Gusto machines talk through lights, and the pattern depends on the model. The table covers the lights that appear across most machines. Your user manual gives the exact pattern for your model.
An official note for the orange light is worth passing on: on machines with the descaling alert, the light returns to normal after a descale on the next use. If you descaled and the light is still on, the programme was probably interrupted or the machine did not register it. A second full descale usually clears it. A light that stays after two descales needs a technician.
No water or no flow: the Dolce Gusto that will not pour
A machine that powers on and then gives no coffee, or stops partway through a cup, has one of four problems.
Start with the tank and the capsule holder. Take out the holder, rinse it on both sides, and wipe the piercing needle around the head with a soft, damp cloth. The machine must be unplugged and cold when you do this. You will find advice online to clear the needle with a pin or a paper clip. If you try it, do it only with the machine unplugged, go gently, and never force it, because a bent needle leaks water into the holder and makes the leak worse.
If the needle is clean and the tank is full, descale. If the machine still will not pour after a full descale, the pump or the thermoblock is the likely cause, and that is a technician job.
Dolce Gusto leaks: where the water comes from
A leak is the second common Dolce Gusto complaint. Where the water appears tells you the cause.
The official advice for a leak is to check that the capsule is properly seated in the holder, make sure it has not been pierced twice, and try a fresh one. If the leak continues with new capsules, the cause is in the machine.
Compatible capsules sold in Dubai differ in rim, foil and fill. If your leaks started when you changed capsule brand, go back to the original for a week and see. If the leak stops, the capsule was the cause. If it continues, book us.
Weak, cold or watery coffee from a Dolce Gusto
Coffee that has changed in taste or temperature while the capsules stayed the same points to the machine, and scale is the first suspect.
Descaling answers many of these. The official guide to Dolce Gusto descaling gives three signs that a machine needs it: coffee cooler than normal, a change of flavour, and less or no coffee dispensed. We agree with all three. If you have descaled and the symptoms stay, the heating or the pump needs attention.
A stuck capsule, a jammed handle or a lever that will not move
Dolce Gusto machines use a locking handle to hold the capsule holder against the needle, and a lever or dial to choose hot or cold. When one sticks, the fault is mechanical.
Do not use a knife or a screwdriver on a stuck handle. The plastic is thin and the cost of a cracked housing is far more than the cost of a visit. If it will not release after the machine has been off for ten minutes, message us.
Descaling a Dolce Gusto, step by step
Scale is the main reason Dolce Gusto machines fail, and descaling is the main thing you can do about it. The recommended interval is about every three months, and more often if you use the machine daily or the water is hard.
Switch off, empty the tank and take out any capsule.
Use fresh drinking water and descaler in the proportion on the descaler pack. The manufacturer's guide gives one part descaler to ten parts water. 500 ml of water takes 50 ml of descaler.
Pour the solution into the tank, put the tank back, fit the empty capsule holder, close the handle, and put a jug under the outlet.
On many models, hold the power button for at least five seconds until it blinks orange. Your manual gives the right method for your model.
On a lever machine, move the lever to hot. On a button machine, press the coffee button. Let about half the solution run through, and then stop on machines without an automatic stop.
Leave the machine for about two minutes.
Empty and rinse the tank, fill it with clean water, and run it through the same way until the tank is empty.
Switch off, take out the holder and any rinse tool, rinse and dry them, and refill the tank with fresh water.
Some models, such as the Genio S, tell you when descaling is due. Others, such as the Mini Me, do not, so put the date in your phone.
Use a descaler made for coffee machines, and follow the pack. Do not use a strong household acid, and never mix products. If the machine has not been descaled for a year or more, a technician flushes it more thoroughly than the home programme can. We do this on site.
Cleaning a Dolce Gusto between descales
Keep the tank full of fresh water. Water that sits in the tank for days changes the taste and leaves a film. If you will be away for a few weeks, empty the tank and leave the lid off.
Why a Dolce Gusto will not start, or loses power
A machine that is completely dead is rarely the capsule system. Work through the power first.
The supply in the UAE is 230 V. A Dolce Gusto made for a 120 V market must not be plugged in through a travel adaptor, even if the plug fits. Check the voltage on the label under the machine, because running a machine on the wrong supply destroys the heating element or the board, and that is not a repair worth paying for.
Do not open a dead machine while it is plugged in. If a drink was spilled over the controls, leave it off and unplugged, and book us.
Dolce Gusto noises: normal and not normal
A Dolce Gusto pump runs at high pressure. The manufacturer states up to 15 bar, so some noise is normal. Knowing the difference between a working pump and a failing one saves a call.
A pump that is louder than it was, on a machine that is flowing normally, is a warning. It will often work for weeks more. When it begins to lose flow, descaling first and a pump replacement second is the order that avoids paying for a part you did not need.
Air in the pump: the machine that will not prime
If a Dolce Gusto will not pour after the tank ran dry, after a move, or after a descale, the pump may be drawing air instead of water. The machine sounds like it is working and nothing comes out.
Fill the tank with fresh water and seat it firmly, since a tank that is not pressed home lets air in.
With no capsule in the holder, run several full cycles into a jug. Water should begin to flow and the sound should settle.
Make sure the capsule holder is locked in place and the handle is closed fully.
Run the cycle again after a minute. Some machines need several tries.
If nothing flows after a handful of tries and a descale, the pump or a blocked path is at fault.
This helps with a surprising number of calls, and costs nothing to try.
Pump, thermoblock and board faults
When the simple causes are ruled out, the repairs become mechanical or electrical.
The technician tests the pump and the heating element with a meter before replacing anything, because a good part replaced on a guess costs you money and fixes nothing.
Milk, cold drinks and the extras
Dolce Gusto machines make milk drinks from a separate milk capsule, which is a good design for a machine this simple, because there is no milk tube to clean. That brings its own issues.
If a milk capsule produces only foam or only water, the capsule may be faulty or the holder not seated. Test with a new capsule before suspecting the machine.
Repair or replace a Dolce Gusto
This is the one place where we point you away from our own service more often than on a Jura or a Breville. Many Dolce Gusto machines cost little to buy.
Our rule is the same as on every page. If a quote reaches about half the price of a similar new machine, buy new. Because Dolce Gusto machines cost so little, a diagnostic plus repair reaches that point sooner than it does on a coffee machine that costs thousands. We tell you when it does.
If you decide to replace it: what to look for in the next machine
When a repair is poor value, the next purchase is worth a little thought, because the right machine saves you repairs later.
Whichever machine you buy, descale on a schedule from the first month. It costs far less than the repairs that scale causes.
Dolce Gusto machines in offices and shops
Offices that keep a Dolce Gusto in the kitchen run it far harder than a household does, and the signs are quick scale, a tired pump and a handle that loosens.
We also repair and service larger commercial machines, and we can tell you when your Dolce Gusto is doing more than it was built for.
What happens at a Dolce Gusto repair visit
Send a picture of the label under the machine, and say what the lights do, when the fault began and when you last descaled.
The technician checks the tank, the handle, the capsule holder and the needle, and makes a test drink with a fresh capsule.
Water temperature and flow are measured, and the pump is listened to and tested.
The water path is checked for scale, and the seals and the tank valve for leaks.
You get one price. If it is poor value we say so, and the choice is yours. If you agree, the part is fitted there and then.
A hot drink and a cold drink are made, and you get an invoice with a month's guarantee on what was fitted.
We only take a machine away for bench work if you agree.

Frequently asked questions
Who repairs Dolce Gusto machines in Dubai?
Jashanmal looks after Dolce Gusto warranty service in the UAE. Once the warranty is over, we repair the machine in your kitchen or office, usually the same day. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 55 209 9785.
How much does a Dolce Gusto repair cost in Dubai?
Finding the fault costs AED 100 plus VAT. The repair is AED 80 to AED 400, agreed before work starts. On a cheap machine we say plainly if a new one is the better buy.
Why is my Dolce Gusto not pouring coffee?
Check the tank is full and seated, rinse the capsule holder, and wipe the piercing needle with a damp cloth while the machine is unplugged. If it still will not pour, descale. If a descale does not fix it, the pump or the heating block needs checking.
What does the orange light mean on my Dolce Gusto?
On machines with a descaling alert it means the machine needs descaling. Run the descaling programme and the light should clear on the next use.
How often should I descale a Dolce Gusto?
About every three months, and more often if you use it daily or your water is hard. Signs are cooler coffee, a change in flavour and less coffee in the cup.
Why is my Dolce Gusto leaking?
Check that the capsule is seated and has not been pierced twice, and try a new one. If the leak continues, the holder seal, the needle or the tank valve is worn.
Why is my Dolce Gusto coffee cold?
Scale on the heating element is the usual cause. Descale first. If the coffee is still cold, the heating element or a thermal fuse has failed.
Can I use compatible capsules?
Many people do, but compatible capsules can differ in rim and foil, and a poor seal causes leaks. If leaks started after you changed brand, go back to the original capsule and test.
Why will my Dolce Gusto handle not open?
Pressure may still be in the system. Switch off, wait for the light to stop blinking, and try again gently. Do not use a tool to force it.
Why is my Dolce Gusto so loud?
A steady buzz while brewing is normal, because the pump works at high pressure. A louder hum with little flow means a blockage or a pump running dry. Refill the tank, run empty cycles, and descale. If the noise stays, the pump may be wearing out.
Why will my Dolce Gusto not turn on?
Test the socket with another appliance and look at the cable. A machine that starts and then stops may have blown a thermal fuse after overheating. A dead machine with a good socket needs a technician. Do not open it while it is plugged in.
Is it worth repairing a Dolce Gusto machine?
For scale, a needle or a seal, yes. For a failed pump or board on an inexpensive model, often no. We give you an honest view before you pay for a repair.
Do you repair the Genio S Touch and Esperta?
Yes, including the pump, the heating element and the controls. We quote before we start.
Will repairing my machine affect the warranty?
If it is still covered, an unapproved repair can end the cover, so ask Jashanmal or Dolce Gusto customer service first. After the warranty has expired, nothing is lost.
