Overview

One Click Dubai repairs refrigerators, fridges and freezers at home across Dubai, with same-day visits and bookings taken at any hour. Refrigerator repair covers every type, from a top-mount fridge freezer to a side by side, a built-in or a wine cooler, and every fault, from a door seal to a compressor.

Most fridges are repaired where they stand, and we keep about 90% of the parts we need in stock. Some sealed-system jobs are done in our workshop, and you are told that before anything is moved.

This page starts with what to do about the food, then explains the checks to make before booking, which fault matches which symptom, what each part costs in Dubai, and when a fridge is not worth repairing.

Fridge repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

Fridge repair in Dubai from One Click Dubai starts with an AED 100 diagnostic visit, plus VAT, which finds the fault. You then get the repair price and decide. Market prices run from AED 150 to AED 250 for minor repairs, AED 250 to AED 750 for a thermostat, fan or gas work, and AED 450 to AED 2,200 for a compressor.

What you want to knowOur answer
How soon can you come? The same day, and within the hour for emergencies
Where is it repaired? At your home for most faults. In our workshop for some sealed-system jobs, by agreement
What does the visit cost?AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic. No surcharge at night or at weekends
Do you have the parts?About 90% are in stock. If one must be ordered, you hear the arrival date first
Which appliances?Fridges, fridge freezers, upright and chest freezers, wine coolers, and commercial refrigeration
Do you do gas and compressor work?Yes: leak repair, compressor replacement, vacuum and regas, including R600a
Is the repair covered?Yes, by a one-month warranty on parts and labour

If the fridge is inside the maker's warranty, contact the maker first. Many makers cover the compressor for longer than the rest of the appliance, so check the warranty card even on an older fridge.

Protect your food first: what to do when a fridge stops

When a fridge stops cooling, keep the doors shut. The US Food and Drug Administration advises that a closed refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours, a full freezer holds its temperature for about 48 hours, and a half-full freezer for about 24 hours. Every time a door opens, that time shortens.

1
Keep both doors closed

Decide what you need before opening, and take it out in one go.

2
Note the time

Write down when you noticed the fault. It decides what can be kept.

3
Move the most perishable food

Meat, fish, milk, cooked food and baby food go to a neighbour's fridge or a cool box with ice, if the repair will take more than a few hours.

4
Leave the freezer packed

Frozen food keeps itself cold. Do not move it unless you have another freezer.

5
Put a thermometer inside, if you have one

Food in the fridge is safe at 4°C or below. Frozen food that still has ice crystals can be refrozen.

What to throw away

The same guidance says to discard perishable food, such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and leftovers, that has been above 4°C for more than four hours. Hard cheese, butter, whole fruit, vegetables, jams and sauces last longer. When in doubt, throw it out. Never taste food to test it.

Tell us when you book that food is at risk, so the visit is treated as urgent.

Six checks before you book

Six checks settle a fair share of fridge not working calls without a visit: power, the temperature setting, the door seals, air vents inside, space around the cabinet, and the condenser. None needs tools.

1
Power

Is the inside light on? If not, check the socket with another appliance and look at the breaker. A fridge with the light on but not cooling has power, and the fault is elsewhere.

2
Temperature setting

Dials get knocked and touch panels get pressed by accident. Set the fridge to 3 or 4°C and the freezer to minus 18°C. On a numbered dial, the higher number is usually colder.

3
Demo or holiday mode

Some fridges have a showroom mode that lights the display and runs nothing. The manual gives the button combination to cancel it.

4
Door seals

Close the door on a sheet of paper. If it slides out with no grip, the seal is not closing. Check that nothing inside holds the door ajar.

5
Air vents inside

Cold air enters the fridge section through vents at the back. Food packed tight against them blocks the flow.

6
Space and the condenser

A fridge needs air behind and above it. Pull it forward and look at the coils at the back or behind the bottom grille. A blanket of dust stops them shedding heat.

After a power cut

Many fridges wait several minutes before restarting the compressor. Give it half an hour. If it clicks every few minutes and never starts, switch it off at the socket and book a visit.

A new fridge, or one that has just been moved, should stand upright for a few hours before it is switched on, and then needs up to a day to reach temperature.

Refrigerator problems we repair, by symptom

Most refrigerator faults show up as one of ten symptoms, and each points to a short list of parts. The table matches what you notice to the usual causes and to what we do.

Three signs to switch off and call

A burning or hot-plastic smell from the back.
A click every two or three minutes, with no compressor hum between.
Water near the socket or the cable.

Fridge not cooling

A fridge not cooling, with the light on, has one of five causes in most cases: a condenser clogged with dust, a failed start relay, a failed fan, a control fault, or a sealed-system fault such as a gas leak or a worn compressor. The first four are ordinary repairs. The last is the expensive one.

CauseHow to tellRepair
Dirty condenser coilFridge runs constantly, sides or back very hot, cooling poor in summerCoils cleaned
Start relay or overloadClick, brief hum, click, repeated every few minutes. Compressor hotRelay and overload replaced
Condenser fan not runningCompressor runs and overheats, on models with a fan beside itFan motor replaced
Control board or thermostatCompressor and fans silent, light on, no clicksBoard repaired or replaced, or thermostat replaced
Gas leakCompressor runs, but the coil inside is only partly frosted. Cooling faded over weeksLeak found and repaired, system vacuumed and regassed
Worn compressorRuns but does not pump. Both sections warmCompressor replaced, or the fridge

Feel and listen

Put a hand on the side or back panel. Warm is normal. Too hot to keep your hand on means the condenser cannot shed heat.
Listen at the bottom rear. A steady low hum is the compressor running. Silence, or repeated clicking, is not.
Open the freezer and listen for the fan. It should run when the door switch is pressed in.

A refrigerator that stopped cooling straight after being moved or laid on its side may only need to stand upright for a few hours before it is switched on.

Fridge warm but freezer working

When the fridge is not cooling but the freezer is working, the fault is almost never gas. In most fridge freezers all the cold is made at one coil in the freezer, and a fan blows part of it up into the fridge. If that coil ices over or the fan stops, the freezer stays cold and the fridge warms.

Why the coil ices over

A frost-free fridge melts the frost off its coil several times a day, using a heater, a sensor and a timer or the control board. If any of the three fails, frost builds until it blocks the airflow. The usual sign is a fridge that slowly warmed over a week or two, with a wall of ice behind the freezer's back panel.

How to confirm it

The freezer's back panel is bulging with frost, or the fan is noisy from hitting ice.
No air blows from the vents inside the fridge section.
Switching the fridge off for 24 hours with the doors open brings it back to normal for a few days. That proves a defrost fault and is not a repair.

The repair

The coil is defrosted, and the heater, the sensor and the fan are tested. The failed part is replaced, and the drain under the coil is cleared, because meltwater from the ice often blocks it. If the three parts test good, the control board is not starting the defrost cycle.

A stuck air damper, the small flap that lets cold air into the fridge section, gives the same symptom with no ice. It is tested at the same visit.

Fridge leaking water, and ice build-up

A fridge leaking water, or dripping inside, is usually draining its own defrost water to the wrong place. Meltwater should run through a small hole at the back of the fridge section, down a tube and into a pan near the compressor, where it evaporates. A blocked hole sends it into the fridge and then onto the floor.

Beads of water on the outside of the cabinetHumid kitchen air on a cold surface, or a failed door sealCheck the seal. Reduce humidity. Often normal in summer with the AC off

You can clear a visible drain hole yourself with warm water and a cotton bud or a length of soft plastic tube. Do not use a knife or a screwdriver on ice inside a freezer: the coil behind the wall punctures easily, and that ends the fridge.

Fridge making noise

A fridge making noise, whether buzzing, humming, rattling or knocking, is often working normally. Modern refrigerators click, gurgle, hum and crack as they run. A noise that is new, loud or regular is worth checking, and its type and location point to the part.

NoiseWhereLikely cause
Gurgling or hissingInside the wallsRefrigerant flowing. Normal
Crack or popInsidePlastic expanding and contracting with temperature. Normal

Rattle from belowBottom rearCondenser fan blade catching dust or a cable
Knock when the compressor stopsBottom rearCompressor mounts. Often harmless, sometimes early wear

A fridge that has gone completely silent, with the light on, is also a fault. The compressor should run for much of each hour.

Refrigerator parts we repair and replace

Nine parts account for most refrigerator repairs in Dubai: the start relay, the thermostat or sensors, the fan motors, the defrost heater, the door seal, the control board, the water valve, the drain, and the compressor. The prices are 2026 market ranges published by companies in the city, before VAT.

These figures show what the market charges and are not our fixed price list. Published compressor and board prices vary widely, because a small top-mount fridge and a large side by side use very different parts.

Compressor repair: the diagnosis to double-check

Refrigerator compressor repair is the most expensive verdict a fridge can receive, and it is sometimes given too quickly. A failed start relay, a failed overload or a control board that is not sending power will each leave a healthy compressor silent. Those parts cost a fraction of a compressor.

Questions to ask

Was the start relay tested or swapped?
What do the compressor windings measure? A technician can state the readings.
Does the compressor draw current when it tries to start?
Is there voltage at the compressor from the control board?
If the compressor runs, what are the pressures?

When a compressor really has failed

It trips the breaker, and an insulation test shows it shorted to earth.
A winding is open circuit.
It runs and draws current, but pumps no pressure.
It is seized, and will not start with a new relay.

Replacing a compressor is sealed-system work: the gas is recovered, the old compressor is cut out, a new one and a new filter drier are brazed in, and the system is vacuumed and recharged by weight. It takes several hours, and we often do it in the workshop. On an inverter fridge, the inverter board is tested as well, since it drives the compressor.

Fridge gas refill and leak repair

A fridge gas refill is needed only when gas has leaked, because a refrigerator is sealed at the factory and has no service valve. Gas is not used up. If a fridge is low, the leak has to be found and repaired first, and then the system is vacuumed and recharged with the exact weight on its rating plate.

Signs of low gas. the compressor runs all the time, the freezer is cool but not freezing, and the coil inside is frosted only at one end.
Where fridges leak. at brazed joints near the compressor, in the condenser, and in the evaporator coil inside the cabinet.
The leak that ends a fridge. one inside the foam-filled walls. The tubing there cannot be reached. Sometimes it can be bypassed, and sometimes it cannot.
The gas. most current fridges use R600a, which is flammable and is charged in very small amounts, often under 100 grams. Older ones use R134a. The two are not interchangeable.
The charge is weighed. A few grams too much or too little affects cooling, so charging by pressure or by feel does not work.

A quote for a fridge regas with no leak test is a quote for the same fault again in a few weeks or months. Ask where the leak is.

Door seal and gasket replacement

A fridge door gasket, the rubber seal round the door, that no longer seals lets warm, humid air in all day. The fridge runs longer, frost builds round the freezer door, and food near the door spoils sooner. Many seals can be cleaned and reshaped. A torn, hardened or shrunken one is replaced.

The paper test

Close the door on a strip of paper and pull. Repeat at several points round the door. Grip everywhere means the seal is good. A spot where the paper slides out freely is a gap.

Sticky or dirty seal. wash with warm soapy water and dry. Sugar and grease glue seals to the cabinet and then tear them.
Flattened or twisted section. warming it gently with a hair dryer often restores its shape.
Door dropped at the handle side. the hinge has worn or loosened, and the seal cannot meet the cabinet however good it is.
Torn, split at a corner, or hard. replace.

Seals are specific to the model. Send the model number, and we can tell you whether the gasket is in stock.

By type: side by side, French door, top mount, built-in, mini, wine cooler and freezer

The type of refrigerator changes what usually fails and how the repair is done. A top-mount fridge is simple and cheap to repair. A side by side or French door model adds a dispenser, an ice maker, more fans and more electronics.

TypeCommon faultsPoints to know
Top-mount or bottom-mount fridge freezerDefrost fault, fan, relay, thermostat, door sealsThe most common type. Parts are widely stocked
Side by sideDefrost fault, damper, ice maker, water valve, dispenser, control boardThe freezer coil cools both sides, so 'fridge warm, freezer cold' is frequent
French doorIce maker in the fridge door, twin coils on some models, door flap heater, boardsIcing around the ice maker is a known weak point on some models
Built-in and integratedOverheating from poor ventilation, door hinges and sliders, fansCabinet panels must come off. Ventilation gaps in the plinth and above matter
Inverter fridgeInverter board, sensorsCompressor runs at varying speed, so it is quieter and rarely fully off
Mini fridge and bar fridgeThermostat, relay, gas leakOften not economical to repair beyond a thermostat or relay
Wine coolerFan, thermostat, door seal, cooling module on thermoelectric modelsCompressor models are repaired like a fridge
Upright, chest and deep freezerDoor or lid seal, thermostat, relay, gas leak, defrost fault on frost-free modelsKeep the lid shut until we arrive. A full freezer holds for about two days

Freezer repair is booked in the same way as fridge repair. Tell us whether it is frost-free or manual-defrost.

Refrigerator repair cost in Dubai

Refrigerator repair cost in Dubai is typically AED 150 to AED 600 for the common faults, and AED 800 to AED 2,500 for a control board, a compressor or a sealed-system leak on a large fridge. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT. The ranges are 2026 market prices published by companies in the city, and are not our fixed price list.

Repair or replace?

Repair a fridge when the repair costs less than about half the price of a comparable new one and the fridge is under eight to ten years old. Replace it when the compressor or the sealed system fails on an old or budget fridge, or when a leak is inside the cabinet walls and cannot be reached.

SituationUsually better to
Relay, thermostat, fan, defrost part, drain or door seal, any ageRepair
Control board, fridge under eight yearsRepair
Compressor, mid-range or premium fridge under eight yearsRepair. Check the maker's compressor warranty first
Compressor, budget fridge over eight yearsReplace
Gas leak at a reachable jointRepair
Gas leak inside the foamed wallsReplace, unless a bypass is possible
Rusted cabinet, broken liner, repeated faults in a yearReplace

New fridges in Dubai sell for roughly AED 1,200 to AED 2,000 for budget models, AED 2,500 to AED 4,500 for mid-range, and AED 5,000 and more for premium ones. A repair of AED 700 means something different against each. We give you both figures.

Why fridges fail sooner in Dubai, and how to prevent it

A refrigerator in Dubai works harder than the same model in a cool country. Kitchens are warmer, dust is finer, and many fridges are boxed into cabinets with little air. Five habits remove most of the strain.

Clean the condenser coils once or twice a year. Pull the fridge out, switch it off and vacuum the coils and the grille.
Leave air space. A freestanding fridge needs a gap behind and above. A built-in one needs its plinth and top vents left open.
Keep it away from the oven and out of direct sun, where the kitchen layout allows.
Wash the door seals every month or two, and check them with the paper test.
Do not overfill, and do not block the air vents inside.
Let hot food cool before it goes in.
Fit a voltage protector on the socket. Power dips and surges are hard on compressors and boards.

A refrigerator maintenance visit covers the coils, seals, drain, fans and temperatures, and is worth booking before summer for a fridge over five years old.

Commercial refrigeration repair

We repair commercial refrigeration for restaurants, cafes, groceries, bakeries and hotels: upright and under-counter fridges, display chillers, bottle coolers, chest freezers and cold rooms. Stock is at risk from the minute a unit warms, so these calls are treated as emergencies.

Common faults. dirty condensers in hot kitchens, fan motors, door seals worn by constant opening, defrost faults, thermostats and controllers, and gas leaks.
Cold rooms. door seals and heaters, evaporator fans, defrost, controller and compressor faults.
Regular servicing. condenser cleaning and seal checks on a schedule prevent most summer breakdowns.
Records. we note temperatures and work done at each visit, for your food-safety file.

For ice machines, see commercial ice machine repair.

Ice maker and water dispenser faults

An ice maker that has stopped making ice, or a dispenser that gives no water, is usually a frozen fill tube, a failed inlet valve, a blocked filter or a faulty ice maker module, and not a fault in the fridge's cooling. See fridge ice maker repair, and our guide to an ice maker not making ice.

Refrigerator brands we repair

We repair every refrigerator brand sold in the UAE, including LG, Samsung, Bosch, Siemens, Hitachi, Whirlpool, Beko, Haier, Hisense, Sharp, Toshiba, Panasonic, Midea, Daewoo, Super General, Liebherr, Miele and Smeg.

The cooling circuit works the same way in all of them. Boards, sensors, ice makers and door parts are specific to the brand and model, so send the model number when you book.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a fridge repair take?

Most repairs take one to two hours at your home. Compressor and sealed-system work takes several hours and may go to the workshop.

What temperature should my fridge and freezer be?

The fridge at 4°C or below, and the freezer at minus 18°C.

Why is my fridge running all the time?

In a hot kitchen a fridge runs for most of each hour. Constant running with poor cooling points to a dirty condenser, a leaking door seal or low gas.

Does a fridge need regular gas refilling?

No. The gas is sealed in for life. A fridge that needs gas has a leak.

Is it safe to defrost a freezer with a knife or a hair dryer?

Never use a knife. A hair dryer near meltwater is an electrical risk. Switch off, open the door, and use bowls of hot water and towels.

My fridge is hot on the sides. Is that a fault?

Warm sides are normal on many models, because the condenser runs inside the side walls. Very hot sides with poor cooling are not.

Can you repair a built-in fridge without damaging the cabinets?

Yes. The door panel and plinth are removed and refitted. It adds time to the job.

How long should a fridge last?

Around ten to fifteen years. Heat, dust and poor ventilation shorten that, and regular coil cleaning extends it.

Will you take the fridge away?

Only when a repair needs the workshop, and with your agreement. Most work is done at your home.

Who pays for the repair in a rented flat?

It depends on whether the fridge belongs to the landlord and what the tenancy contract says. Ask before booking, and keep the invoice.
