Kitchen appliance repair

Kitchen appliance repair covers the appliances that cook, clean and extract: ovens, cookers, hobs, microwaves, dishwashers and hoods. Most kitchen faults come down to heat, water or ignition.

SymptomApplianceUsual causeTypical repair
Oven warm but never hotElectric ovenFailed element or thermostatNew element or thermostat
Oven trips the breakerElectric ovenElement leaking current to earthNew element
Burner clicks and will not lightGas hob or cookerDirty or wet igniter, blocked burner portsClean, or new electrode
Flame goes out when the knob is releasedGas hob or ovenFlame safety thermocoupleNew thermocouple
One hob zone deadElectric or ceramic hobElement or its switchNew element or switch
Induction hob does not detect the panInduction hobUnsuitable pan, or a coil or board faultTest with another pan, then repair
Microwave runs, food stays coldMicrowaveMagnetron, capacitor or diodeTested and replaced by a technician
Dishwasher leaves water in the baseDishwasherBlocked filter or drain pumpClean, or new pump
Dishes still dirtyDishwasherBlocked spray arms, no heat, wrong doseClean arms, or new element
Hood runs with little suctionKitchen hoodClogged grease filters or blocked ductClean or replace filters

A microwave is the one kitchen appliance you should never open yourself. Its capacitor holds a dangerous charge long after the plug is pulled. For a gas smell from any appliance, close the gas valve, open the windows, do not touch switches, and call.

Gas ovens and gas cookers are a large share of our kitchen work. We repair igniters, thermocouples, gas valves, burners and oven thermostats on cylinder and piped gas, and we convert appliances between gas types when you move home.

Laundry appliance repair

Laundry appliance repair covers washing machines, tumble dryers and washer dryers. These machines combine water, heat, a motor and a lock, and a fault in any one stops the cycle.

SymptomUsual causeCan you check it?
Stops full of waterBlocked pump filter, kinked drain hose, failed pumpYes: clean the filter at the bottom front
Laundry soaking at the endNot drained, or a load that could not be balancedYes: clean the filter, mix the load, run a spin
Door will not openWater in the drum, or a failed door lockPartly: drain first, never force the door
Drum does not turnBelt, motor brushes or motor controlNo
Water on the floorDoor seal, filter cap, hose or pumpPartly: check the seal and filter cap
Dryer runs coldHeating element or thermostat, blocked ventPartly: clean the lint filter and vent
Dryer stops after a few minutesOverheating from blocked airflow, or a sensorPartly: clean the filter and condenser
Washer dryer washes and will not dryFluff-blocked air path, drying heater or fanNo

Every washing machine brand sold in Dubai has its own page with that brand's faults, including Samsung, LG, Bosch, Siemens and Miele. The full list is on the washing machine brands page.

Cooling appliance repair

Cooling appliance repair covers fridges, freezers, ice makers, air conditioners and air coolers. In Dubai's heat these are the appliances that cannot wait, and we treat a fridge that has stopped cooling as an emergency.

SymptomApplianceUsual cause
Fridge warm, freezer still coldFridge freezerIced evaporator from a defrost fault, or a failed fan
Both compartments warmFridge freezerCompressor, start relay, or a gas leak
Water under the crisper drawersFridgeBlocked defrost drain
Loud buzzing or clickingFridgeCompressor struggling to start, or a fan hitting ice
No iceIce makerFrozen fill tube, inlet valve, or the ice maker unit
AC runs, room stays warmAir conditionerDirty coils, low gas, or a failed compressor capacitor
Water dripping indoorsAir conditionerBlocked condensate drain
Air cooler blows warm or dry airAir coolerPump not wetting the pads, or scaled pads

While you wait for a fridge repair, keep the doors shut. A closed fridge holds a safe temperature for about four hours, and a full freezer for about a day. Move medicines and baby food to a neighbour's fridge first.

More detail is on our refrigerator repair and AC repair pages.

Smaller appliances: air coolers, water dispensers, coffee machines, vacuums, water heaters and TVs

We repair a range of smaller household appliances as well as the large ones. Whether a small appliance is worth repairing depends on its price, and we tell you honestly before any work.

ApplianceCommon faultsUsually worth repairing?
Air coolerPump not running, fan motor, scaled or collapsed cooling pads, leaking tank, float valveYes. Parts are inexpensive
Water dispenserNo cold water, no hot water, leaking taps, compressor not runningYes for taps, thermostats and heaters. Compare for a compressor
Coffee machineNo water flow from scale, pump not priming, leaking, grinder jammed, no heatYes for bean-to-cup and espresso machines. Often not for basic capsule machines
Vacuum cleanerLoss of suction, motor cutting out, damaged cable or hose, brush bar not turningYes for mid-range and premium models
Water heaterNo hot water, tripping, leaking from the tank or valve, noisy heatingYes for elements and thermostats. A leaking tank means replacement
TVNo picture with sound, lines on screen, no power, dead backlightDepends on the fault. A cracked panel is rarely economic

Air cooler repair

An air cooler cools by drawing air through wet pads. When it blows warm air, the pump has usually stopped or the pads have scaled over and no longer hold water. We replace pumps, fan motors, pads and float valves, descale the tank and reseal leaks. Clean the tank and pads every few weeks in summer, because standing water in a cooler goes stale quickly.

Water dispenser, coffee machine and vacuum repair

Water dispensers fail at the taps, the hot tank's thermostat and, less often, the cooling compressor. Coffee machines fail mostly from scale, which blocks the water path and burns out the heater. Vacuum cleaners lose suction from blocked filters and hoses far more often than from a failed motor. You can bring small appliances to our workshop at Oasis Mall, Al Quoz 1, or have them looked at during a home visit for a larger appliance.

Same-day and emergency appliance repair

Same-day appliance repair is our normal service, at any hour and on any day, with no surcharge. For a small set of faults we aim to arrive within the hour, because waiting causes damage or danger.

FaultWhy it is urgentWhat to do while you wait
Water leaking from a washing machine or dishwasherFloor damage, and water reaching the flat belowClose the tap, unplug the appliance
Fridge or freezer not coolingFood spoils within hours in summerKeep the doors closed
Appliance tripping the breakerAn earth fault inside the applianceLeave it unplugged. Do not keep resetting
Burning smell or smokeFire riskSwitch off at the wall and unplug
Smell of gasExplosion riskClose the valve, ventilate, touch no switches
Tingle from a metal applianceThe casing is liveUnplug and do not touch
AC failure in a home with infants, elderly or unwell peopleHeat riskMove to the coolest room and call

Everything else is booked for a time that suits you the same day. Evening and weekend visits cost the same as weekday ones.

What appliance repair costs in Dubai

Appliance repair in Dubai typically costs AED 150 to AED 600 for the common faults on a large appliance, at market rates, with larger jobs such as a compressor, control board or drum bearings running higher. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT, and you are given a fixed price before any repair.

ApplianceCommon repairs, typical market rangeMajor repairs, typical market range
Washing machineAED 150 to 500AED 400 to 1,000 for a board, bearings or motor
Tumble dryerAED 200 to 500Varies with the part
Fridge freezerAED 150 to 600AED 800 to 2,500 for a board, compressor or sealed-system leak
DishwasherAED 150 to 600, most under AED 350Varies with the part
Oven and cookerAED 80 to 450AED 400 to 900 for a control board
MicrowaveAED 80 to 350Usually not worth more
Air conditionerAED 150 to 900AED 1,200 to 3,800 for a compressor

What decides the price

The part. a pump, lock, valve or thermostat is cheap. A compressor, control board or drum assembly is not.
The brand. parts for premium European brands cost more than for mainstream ones.
Access. a built-in appliance has to be taken out of its housing and refitted.
The labour. sealed-system refrigeration work and bearing jobs take hours, not minutes.

Be wary of a price given over the phone before anyone has seen the appliance. The same symptom can be a AED 150 part or a AED 1,500 one, and an honest quote follows a diagnosis.

Repair or replace: a rule that works

Repair an appliance when the repair costs less than half the price of an equivalent new one and the appliance is in the first two thirds of its expected life. Replace it when the repair costs more than half, when rust or structural damage is present, or when it has needed several repairs in a year.

ApplianceTypical working lifeRepair makes sense up to aboutUsually replace when
Washing machine8 to 12 years8 yearsBearings or drum fail on an old, low-priced machine
Tumble dryer8 to 12 years8 yearsThe drum or cabinet has rusted
Fridge freezer10 to 15 years10 yearsThe compressor fails on an old budget model
Dishwasher8 to 10 years7 yearsThe tub leaks or the base has corroded
Oven and cooker10 to 15 years12 yearsThe cavity has rusted through
Microwave5 to 8 years5 yearsThe magnetron fails on a basic model
Split AC10 to 12 years8 to 10 yearsThe compressor fails on an old unit using R22

Three things shift the rule. A built-in appliance is worth repairing for longer, because a replacement must fit the same cabinet. A premium appliance is worth repairing for longer, because a new one costs several times more. And an appliance in a rental may be the landlord's to repair or replace, so check your contract before paying.

We give you both figures, the repair and a rough replacement price, and our own view. If we would not repair it in your position, we say so.

How a home appliance service visit works

A visit follows five steps, and you know the price before any part is fitted.

1
You book

By call, WhatsApp or the online form. Tell us the appliance, the brand, the model if you can find it, and what it is doing.

2
We diagnose

The technician tests the appliance, runs its service programme where it has one, and checks the suspect part with a meter.

3
You get a fixed price

For the part and the labour. If you decide not to go ahead, you pay only the diagnostic visit.

4
We repair and test

With the part from the van in most cases. The appliance is run through a cycle before the technician leaves.

5
You get an invoice

With the one-month warranty on parts and labour.

What to tell us when you book

The model number. It is on a label inside the door of most appliances, or on the back.
Any code or flashing light on the display.
The point at which it stops. on start, mid-cycle, or at the end.
Whether there is water on the floor, a burning smell or a tripped breaker.
Whether the appliance is built in.
Anything that changed before the fault. a power cut, a move, a plumbing job.

A photo of the label and a short video of the fault, sent on WhatsApp, usually let us bring the right part first time.

Appliance repair at home, or in the workshop

Most appliance repairs are done at your home in one visit. A few are better done in our workshop, and we agree that with you first.

Done at homeUsually done in the workshop
Pumps, valves, door locks, seals, belts, heaters, thermostats, fansWashing machine drum bearings
Fridge defrost faults, fans, thermostats, start relaysControl board repair at component level
Oven elements, igniters, thermocouples, door hingesSome sealed-system refrigeration work
Dishwasher pumps, spray arms, inlet valvesSmall appliances you bring in
AC cleaning, capacitors, sensors, fan motors, gas workCompressor replacement on some window units

When an appliance goes to the workshop, we collect it and return it, and the price you agreed does not change. Where only a control board needs bench repair, we take the board and leave the appliance in place.

People sometimes look for an appliance repair shop or an appliance service center near them, expecting to carry the appliance in. For a washing machine, fridge or oven, a home visit is quicker and avoids the risk of moving a heavy machine. For a microwave, vacuum, coffee machine or air cooler, you are welcome to bring it to Office 701, Oasis Mall, Al Quoz 1.

Brands we repair

We repair all appliance brands sold in the UAE. Parts for the common brands travel on the van, and parts for premium or less common brands are ordered by model number.

GroupBrands
Korean and JapaneseSamsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp, Hitachi, Daewoo
GermanBosch, Siemens, Miele, AEG, Neff, Gaggenau, Liebherr
Italian and other EuropeanAriston, Indesit, Candy, Zanussi, Electrolux, Smeg, Beko, Gorenje, Asko, Teka
AmericanWhirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid
ChineseHaier, Hisense, Midea, TCL
RegionalSuper General, Nikai, Geepas, Westpoint, Bompani

Brand matters most for parts and for fault codes. A Bosch dishwasher and a Samsung dishwasher show the same drain fault with different codes, and they use different pumps. Tell us the brand and model when you book.

For washing machines, each brand has a page of its own. Examples: Samsung, LG, Bosch, Whirlpool, Beko and Haier.

Appliance installation

We install appliances as well as repair them, and a correct installation prevents many of the faults we are later called to fix.

ApplianceWhat installation includes
Washing machine and washer dryerTransit bolts removed, levelled, inlet and drain connected at the right height, test wash
DishwasherWater, drain and power connected, levelled, door panel fitted on integrated models
Oven and cookerElectrical connection, gas connection and conversion between gas types, level and anti-tip
Tumble dryerVenting or condenser drain, stacking on a washing machine with a kit
Built-in microwaveFixed into its housing with the trim kit
Air conditionerSupply and installation of all types, with pipework, drain and electrical work

A new washing machine that bangs on its first spin usually still has a transit bolt in. A new dishwasher that will not drain usually has its hose pushed too far into the waste pipe. Both take minutes to put right.

Appliance maintenance that prevents repairs

A few minutes of regular care prevents most appliance breakdowns. These are the tasks that matter, by appliance.

ApplianceTaskHow often
Washing machineClean the pump filter, run a hot empty wash, leave the door ajarMonthly
Tumble dryerEmpty the lint filter. Clean the condenser or ventEvery load. Monthly
FridgeVacuum the condenser coils, clean the door seals, clear the drain holeEvery six months
DishwasherClean the filter and spray arms, run a hot clean with dishwasher cleanerMonthly
OvenWipe spills before they bake on, check the door sealAfter use
Kitchen hoodWash or replace the grease filtersMonthly
Air conditionerWash the filters. Full service with coil cleaningMonthly in summer. Twice a year
Air coolerEmpty and clean the tank and padsEvery few weeks in use
Coffee machine and kettleDescaleEvery one to three months
Water heaterTest the safety valve, have the element and anode checkedYearly

We offer maintenance visits for single appliances and for a whole home. A maintenance visit covers the parts you cannot easily reach: the inside of the drain path, the condenser, the belt, the brushes and the electrical connections.

Commercial appliance repair

We repair commercial appliances for restaurants, cafes, laundries, salons, gyms, offices and staff accommodation. A stopped machine in a business costs money by the hour, so commercial calls are scheduled around your trading times.

Commercial kitchen equipment. ovens, ranges, fryers, hoods and dishwashers
Refrigeration. upright and undercounter fridges, display chillers, walk-in cold rooms and ice machines
Laundry. commercial washers and dryers, including coin and card operated machines
Cooling. split, ducted and VRF air conditioning, and chillers
Vending machines and water dispensers

For businesses that depend on their equipment, a maintenance contract with scheduled visits costs less than emergency breakdowns. See commercial ice machine repair, commercial kitchen hood repair, chiller repair and AC maintenance contracts.

Choosing among appliance repair companies

The best appliance repair is the one that is diagnosed correctly the first time, and an affordable repair is one you only pay for once. A reliable appliance repair company diagnoses before it quotes, gives the price in writing, and stands behind the work. These are the questions worth asking any company, including us.

AskA good answer
Is there a diagnostic fee, and what happens to it if I decline the repair?A fixed fee stated up front, and nothing more if you decline
Will I get the repair price before work starts?Yes, in writing, for the part and the labour
Is there a warranty?Yes, on both the part and the labour, stated on the invoice
Do you charge more at night or on weekends?A clear yes or no

Our answers: AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic, a fixed written price before work, one month of warranty on parts and labour, the same charge at any hour, parts matched to your model, and a proper invoice every time.
