Overview
One Click Dubai repairs Samsung ice makers at home across Dubai, with a technician sent the same day. We repair the ice makers, ice dispensers and water dispensers on Samsung French door, four-door, side by side and Bespoke refrigerators, and fit genuine Samsung ice maker assemblies.
Samsung ice makers have a reputation, and it is partly earned. On French door models the ice maker sits in the fresh food compartment inside its own insulated ice room, and that design freezes up when warm air gets in. The good news is that the cause is known and the repair lasts when it is done properly. This page covers that fault first, then not making ice, the reset and test button, dispenser faults, leaks, noise, removal and replacement.
Samsung ice maker repair in Dubai: the short answers
Samsung ice maker repair in Dubai from One Click Dubai starts with a AED 100 diagnostic visit, plus VAT. The technician checks the ice room for frost and air leaks, tests the water fill and runs the ice maker's test cycle, then gives a fixed price before any repair.
The model code is on a label on the left wall of the fresh food compartment, and starts with RF, RS, RH or RT. Send a photo of it when you book.
Where the ice maker is on your Samsung
Samsung fits its ice maker in one of three places, and the location decides which faults are likely. Find yours before reading further.
Samsung calls the in-door and in-fridge unit the Ice Master. French door models such as RF28HMEDBSR, RF263BEAESR, RF260BEAESR, RF4287HARS and RF28JBEDBSG share this ice room layout, including those with Twin Cooling, FlexZone and Food Showcase doors. In some markets these fridges are sold as American-style fridge freezers. The French door arrangement is the one behind most of Samsung's ice maker complaints.
The ice room is at freezing temperature and it sits inside a compartment at 3 degrees C. It is kept cold by a duct of freezer air and kept separate by foam gaskets and plastic joints. Any gap lets in the moist air of the fridge, and that moisture freezes on the coldest thing it meets, which is the ice maker.
Samsung ice maker frozen or freezing up
A Samsung ice maker freezing up is nearly always caused by moist air leaking into the ice room, or by water going where it should not after a slow-closing valve or a misdirected fill. Defrosting clears it for one to three weeks. Stopping the air or water leak is what cures it.
The repair that lasts
With the fridge's forced defrost mode where the model has one, or with gentle warmth. All ice must go, including what is hidden behind the ice maker.
Look for cracks in the housing, gaps at the joints and a fill tube that sits loose in its opening.
Close the gaps with food-safe sealant and renew any flattened gasket, as the maker's service method describes.
Confirm the water lands in the tray and stops cleanly.
The bucket seal and the door chute flap must both close.
A unit that has been encased in ice for months has often been damaged by it.
Run the test cycle and confirm a full, clean harvest.
Do not chip at the ice or pull hard on a frozen bucket. The bucket's drive coupling and the ice room cover both break easily, and the ice maker's tray is thin plastic.
Samsung ice maker not making ice
A Samsung ice maker not making ice is switched off, short of water, too warm, jammed with frost or has failed. Work through the list in order: the first four are free to check.
It makes some ice, not enough
Small batches, half-size cubes or a bucket that never fills point to a restricted fill or a warm ice room. Change the filter, check the water pressure at the dispenser, and make sure the fridge is not packed so tightly that air cannot reach the ice room duct. A Samsung ice maker makes roughly one tray every 90 minutes when all is well.
It stopped after a power cut or a move
Give it up to 24 hours after a restart. If the tray has stopped halfway through a turn, a test cycle will usually bring it home.
Our guide to a Samsung ice maker not working goes through each step with more detail, and the general guide to an ice maker not making ice covers the water side.
How to reset a Samsung ice maker with the test button
A Samsung ice maker is reset with its test button, which forces one full cycle: the tray turns to empty, returns and refills. Samsung's own instructions for the procedure are short.
Lift and pull it out so you can see the ice maker and catch any ice or water that falls.
It is on the ice maker itself, usually a small rectangular button on the right-hand side or the front edge, sometimes under a lip.
Hold it until you hear a chime, which takes a few seconds.
The tray will turn and drop any ice, and water will follow.
One chime at the end means the cycle passed. A series of chimes means the ice maker has failed its test and needs service.
No chime and no movement: switch the fridge off at the wall for two minutes and try once more. Still nothing means the unit, its wiring or the main board has failed.
Do not press the button again and again. Each press calls for another fill, and if the tray is already full the water overflows into the ice room and freezes there.
Models without a visible button are reset from the display. The button combination varies by model, so check the label or the manual for yours.
Samsung ice dispenser not working
A Samsung ice dispenser not working, with ice in the bucket, has clumped ice, a failed auger motor, a broken bucket drive, a stuck chute flap or a dead dispenser control. Check for a lock icon first.
Ice that sits unused for a week or two sticks together, and on Samsung French door models a slightly warm ice room makes it worse. If you use little ice, empty the bucket now and then. See also our guide to an ice maker not dispensing or dropping ice.
Samsung ice maker leaking water
A Samsung ice maker leaking water shows as drips from the top left corner of the fridge compartment, water on the top shelf, a puddle under the door dispenser or ice on the freezer floor. Each has a different cause.
Close the supply tap if you find water behind or under the fridge, and leave it closed until the leak is found.
Samsung ice maker noises
Most Samsung ice maker noises are normal sounds of filling and harvesting. A few are warnings, and the difference is whether the sound is brief and occasional or continuous and new.
A rattle or whirr from the ice room is the earliest sign of frost building. Dealing with it then is a smaller job than waiting until the bucket is frozen in.
Samsung water filters and water supply
A Samsung ice maker needs clean water at a steady pressure, and the filter is the part of that you control. Samsung asks for the filter to be changed every six months, and the filter light is a timer that reminds you.
See our guide to an ice maker not filling with water for the supply checks.
Removing a Samsung ice maker
Removing a Samsung ice maker from a French door fridge takes ten minutes when the ice room is clear and cannot be done safely when it is iced in. If the unit will not slide out, it is frozen, and it must be defrosted first.
The ice maker's connector is live otherwise.
Press its release and pull it straight out. If it will not move, stop and defrost.
Most units are held by one screw at the front and a locking tab.
It is at the front or side of the unit. Press the latch and pull the plug, not the wires.
Press the tab and draw the unit out along its rails.
Before fitting anything, look for frost, cracks and gaps. This is the moment to seal them.
On side by side models the ice maker is in the freezer or its door and is held by two or three screws and one plug.
Forcing a frozen unit breaks the rails, the connector or the fill tube, and turns a sealing job into a parts job. A hair dryer on a low setting, held well back and kept moving, is the most you should use. Never use a heat gun or boiling water on the plastic.
Samsung ice maker replacement
Samsung ice maker replacement is needed when the unit fails its test cycle with power and water present, when its tray is cracked or warped, or when ice has damaged its motor or sensor. We fit genuine Samsung assemblies identified from the fridge's model code. Samsung ice maker part numbers begin with DA97, and several different units fit fridges that look the same from outside.
Many Samsung ice makers are replaced two or three times because the frost that killed the first one was never dealt with. A new unit in a leaking ice room starts frosting on the first day. When we replace one, the ice room is defrosted, inspected and sealed in the same visit.
If a replacement does not start, see our guide to a new or replaced ice maker not working.
Samsung ice maker troubleshooting by symptom
This table gathers the common Samsung ice maker problems and issues in one place, with the first thing to try and the point at which to call.
If the freezer is warm, the ice maker is a symptom and the fridge needs attention. See refrigerator repair.
What Samsung ice maker repair costs, and whether it is worth it
Samsung ice maker repair is worth doing on almost any fridge that is otherwise cooling well. The parts are modest in cost beside the price of a French door refrigerator, and the sealing repair is mostly labour.
The diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT. You are given a fixed price for the repair before it starts, and the work carries one month's cover on parts and labour.
We cover all of Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Deira.
Samsung ice maker service center in Dubai: repair at home
Our Samsung ice maker service is done in your kitchen. The fridge does not need to leave the house, and you do not need to bring anything to a service center.
A typical visit takes about an hour. A full ice room defrost and seal takes longer, because the ice has to be melted completely before sealant will hold. For other brands and for free-standing machines, see fridge ice maker repair and ice machine repair.
