Overview

One Click Dubai fixes Whirlpool washing machines in Dubai homes, top load and front load, with same-day visits booked at any hour. Whirlpool washing machine repair covers top load washers with an agitator or an impeller, front load 6th Sense and FreshCare machines, and Whirlpool washer dryers.

Three faults make up most Whirlpool calls: a washer that will not spin, a lid or door lock that will not let the cycle start, and a machine that has power but does nothing. This page deals with those first, then draining, noise, codes, parts and cost.

We fit genuine Whirlpool parts, matched to the model number on the rating plate.

Whirlpool washing machine repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

Every Whirlpool washing machine repair in Dubai that we do starts with an AED 100 diagnostic visit, plus VAT. The technician finds the fault and gives you a fixed price before any work. Market prices for the common Whirlpool repairs run from AED 150 for a belt or inlet valve to AED 800 for a control board or bearings.

The model number is under the lid on a top loader, and inside the door frame on a front loader. Whirlpool sells different machines in different countries, so a machine brought from abroad may need parts ordered.

Whirlpool washer not spinning

A Whirlpool washer not spinning has one of four causes in most cases: the lid or door lock has not confirmed, the water has not drained, the load is out of balance, or the drive has failed. Whirlpool's own first step for any of them is to unplug the washer for five minutes and try again.

How a Whirlpool top loader changes from wash to spin

In the wash, the motor turns only the agitator or impeller, back and forth. For the spin, a shifter engages the basket so that everything turns together at speed. If the shifter or its clutch fails, the machine washes normally and never spins, or spins and will not wash. The control checks the shift with a sensor, and a fault there stops the cycle with a system code.

The unplug reset

Unplug the washer for five minutes, plug it back in and run Drain and Spin alone with the tub empty. If the basket spins empty and not with a load, the fault is balance or a weak drive. If it does not spin empty, book a visit.

Whirlpool top load washer not spinning clothes dry

A Whirlpool top load washer that spins but leaves clothes wet is spinning too slowly or for too short a time. The cause is usually in how the load sits or how the water leaves, and less often in a part.

Too many suds. the control detects foam, slows the spin and adds rinses. Sd or Sud may show. Use high-efficiency detergent, and less of it.
An overloaded tub. OL may show. The basket cannot reach speed. Remove some items.
One heavy item. the washer cuts the spin speed to protect itself. Wash it with other items.
Slow drain. water is still leaving when the spin should be at full speed. Check the drain hose.
A low spin setting, or a cycle with a gentle spin by design, such as Delicates.
Worn suspension rods. the tub swings, the control sees imbalance on every load and limits the spin.
A slipping belt or worn clutch. the motor speeds up and the basket does not follow.

Run Drain and Spin with a normal load and watch through the lid window, if there is one. A basket that never reaches a steady fast spin needs a technician.

Whirlpool lid lock and lid switch faults

The Whirlpool lid lock holds the lid shut during the cycle and tells the control it is safe to spin. When it fails, the washer will not start, will not spin, or will not let the lid open. On older machines the same job is done by a simple lid switch.

Lid lock or lid switch replacement

A Whirlpool washer lid switch replacement or lid lock replacement is a short repair. The lock sits under the top panel beside the lid opening, with a small metal or plastic strike on the lid that enters it. We check the strike is straight and the wiring is sound before fitting a new lock, because a bent strike breaks the replacement.

Do not bypass a lid lock. The spin reaches a speed that can break an arm.

Whirlpool washer locked and will not turn on

A Whirlpool washer that is locked and will not turn on is in one of two states. Either the control lock is on, which locks the buttons, or the lid or door lock has held after a cycle was interrupted and the control has frozen.

1
Look for a lock symbol or LOC

LOC or LC on the display means the control lock is on. Hold the Control Lock button for three seconds. On some models it is a second function of another button, marked with a padlock.

2
Cancel the old cycle

Press Pause or Cancel twice, then Power once.

3
Unplug for five minutes

This is Whirlpool's reset. It lets the control and the lock return to rest.

4
Plug in and wait

The lock may click once or twice as the control checks it. Then try Power.

5
If the lid is still held

The lock has failed in the locked position, or the control is not releasing it. Book a visit.

After a power cut, PF may show. Press and hold Start to resume, or press Power to clear.

Whirlpool washer will not start, but has power

A Whirlpool washer that will not start but has power has lights on the panel and no action when Start is pressed. The control is waiting for a condition it has not seen.

Start must be held. many Whirlpool models need Start pressed and held for about three seconds.
Lid or door not confirmed. the lock light flashes. See the lid lock section.
Control lock on. LOC.
Delay Wash set. the washer is counting down.
Int on the display. the cycle was interrupted. Press Pause or Cancel twice, then Power.
No water. the washer starts, hums, then stops with LF or F8 E1.
Start button not working, others fine. the button or the user interface board.
Lights on, nothing responds. the main control has locked up. Unplug for five minutes.

Whirlpool washing machine not turning on at all

With no lights, test the socket with another appliance and check the breaker. If the supply is good, the fault is the power cord, the noise filter or the main control board.

Whirlpool washer not draining

A Whirlpool washer not draining shows drn on a top loader or F9 E1 on a front loader. Whirlpool defines F9 E1 as a drain taking longer than eight minutes, and treats drn first as an installation problem.

1
Check the drain hose

No kinks, not crushed behind the machine, and formed into a U where it enters the standpipe.

2
Check how far it goes in

The hose should sit only a short way into the standpipe, and must not be sealed in with tape. It needs an air gap.

3
Check the height

Whirlpool gives a minimum and maximum standpipe height in the installation sheet for each model.

4
Check the house drain

Run the sink beside it. A slow sink means a blocked waste pipe, not a washer fault.

5
Clean the drain filter, on a front loader

Behind the small panel at the bottom front, on models that have one.

6
Reset

Unplug for five minutes and run Drain and Spin.

If the water still stays, the drain pump is blocked or has failed. On top loaders the pump is under the tub and has no owner-accessible filter, so a sock or a coin in it needs a technician. An old Whirlpool washer not draining often has a pump worn out by years of grit.

Whirlpool washer noise: grinding, clicking and banging

Whirlpool washer noise points to a specific part, and top loaders and front loaders make different noises for different reasons.

NoiseWhenLikely cause
GrindingAgitationWorn agitator dogs on agitator models, or a failing drive hub under an impeller
Grinding or roaringSpinTub bearing
Clicking during the washAgitationThe shifter changing mode, which is normal if brief. Constant clicking means the shifter or clutch
BangingSpinLoad out of balance, washer not level, worn suspension rods
Loud humDrainingObject in the drain pump
SquealStart of spinBelt slipping
Violent shaking, front loaderFirst useShipping bolts not removed

A Whirlpool washing machine making a grinding noise in every spin should not be left. A failed tub bearing lets water through to the drive parts below it.

Slow filling, and hot and cold hoses the wrong way round

A Whirlpool washer that takes too long to fill shows LF or Lo FL on a top loader and F8 E1 on a front loader. Whirlpool's steps run from the simplest, and most cases end at the first two.

1
Open both taps fully

Whirlpool states that both the hot and the cold inlet hoses must be connected, and both taps open, for the washer to work correctly. A machine with only the cold hose connected will fault.

2
Check the hoses

No kinks, red to hot and blue to cold. Remove any anti-flood device that is restricting the flow.

3
Clean the inlet screens

Close the taps, unplug the washer, unscrew the hoses at the machine and brush the small screens clean. They clog with grit from building tanks.

4
Flush the hoses

Run water through each disconnected hose into a sink to check it is not narrowed inside.

5
Check the drain hose

A drain hose pushed too far down the standpipe, or taped in, can siphon water out as fast as it enters.

HC on a top loader means the hot and cold hoses are reversed. Turn off the water and swap them. In a rented flat, check by hand which tap is actually hot, since the labels are not always right. If the code stays after all five steps, the inlet valve or the water-level sensing has failed.

Whirlpool top loaders: agitator and impeller models

Whirlpool top load washers come in two designs. An agitator model has a tall central post that twists the laundry. An impeller model has a low plate in the floor of the basket and uses less water. They share a cabinet and little else.

Agitator modelsImpeller models
How they washThe post turns back and forth, with an upper section that ratchets one wayThe plate turns back and forth and rolls the load through shallow water
Parts that wearAgitator dogs, the small plastic teeth inside the postThe drive hub under the plate, and the plate's splines
Typical signThe top of the agitator turns freely both ways, and clothes do not move downThe plate slips or grinds, and clothes barely move
BalanceMore tolerant of a mixed loadSensitive to a single heavy item. uL or Ofb is more common
Water levelHigherLow by design. It can look as if the washer has not filled

Agitator dogs and impeller hubs are inexpensive parts, and both are changed from inside the basket in under an hour.

Front load Whirlpool: stopping mid-cycle and door faults

A Whirlpool front load washer that stops mid-cycle has detected a fault and paused to protect itself. The code shown at that moment is the best clue, so note it before pressing anything.

CodeWhirlpool's meaningFirst check

6th Sense and FreshCare

Whirlpool's 6th Sense machines weigh the load and adjust water and time, so the displayed time changes during the cycle. That is normal. FreshCare tumbles the load gently after the cycle ends to keep it fresh, and the door stays locked while it runs. Press the FreshCare button or Cancel to end it.

Whirlpool error codes: a reference table

Whirlpool uses two code systems. Front loaders mostly show an F and E pair. Top loaders mostly show letters. Whirlpool's general rule for both is to unplug the washer for five minutes and restart before calling for service.

Send us a photo of any F and E code. The pair identifies the circuit, and it tells us which part to bring.

Belt, motor and bearing repair

The drive of a Whirlpool washer is where its heavier repairs are. A belt is a small job. A motor or a tub bearing is a larger one, and on an older machine it is worth comparing with the price of a replacement.

PartSignsRepair
Drive beltMotor runs, basket does not. Squeal. Black dust under the washerBelt replaced. Pulleys checked
Motor coupling, on older direct-drive modelsMotor runs, nothing turns. Rubber or plastic fragments under the washerCoupling replaced
Clutch or shifterWashes but will not spin, or the reverseClutch or shifter actuator replaced
Motor and capacitorHum without turning, burning smell, trips the breakerCapacitor or motor replaced
Tub bearing and sealRoar in the spin, water or oil under the washerBearing and seal replaced. The tub comes out
Suspension rodsTub bangs the cabinet, Ofb on every loadReplaced as a set of four

A Whirlpool top load washer bearing replacement takes several hours and may be done in our workshop. We quote it against the age of the machine, and tell you plainly when a Whirlpool washer motor replacement cost is not justified by what the washer is worth.

Whirlpool PCB and control board repair

Whirlpool washing machine PCB repair covers the main control board, which runs the motor, valves, pump and lock, and the user interface board behind the buttons. Either can be repaired at component level when the damage is limited, or replaced with the genuine board.

Signs of a main board fault. a dead washer with good supply, a cycle that stops at random, relays chattering, or the same system code after the part it names has been replaced.
Signs of an interface board fault. buttons that do not respond, lights that stay on, or a washer that starts by itself.
Usual causes. power surges, water from an overflowing dispenser, and a shorted motor, pump or lock that overloaded the board.
What we test first. the lid lock, the pump, the motor and the wiring. A new board fitted over an undiagnosed short fails again.

Board repairs are done on the bench in our workshop, and the washer stays with you.

Whirlpool washers are mechanically simple, and their parts are reasonably priced, so most faults are economic to repair.

Installing a Whirlpool, and the transit bolts

We install Whirlpool washing machines. On a front loader, the transit bolts at the back must come out before first use. On a top loader, the packing under the tub and the shipping strap must be removed.

1
Remove the transit bolts or packing

Front load: the bolts and spacers at the back, with the hole plugs fitted afterwards. Top load: tilt the washer, pull out the packing base, and remove any strap.

2
Level

Adjust the feet and tighten the lock nuts.

3
Connect the hoses

Red to hot and blue to cold. Both inlets must be connected on machines with two. Reversed hoses give HC.

4
Fit the drain hose

Formed into a U, a short way into the standpipe, not taped in.

5
Power and test

Wall socket, then a short cycle.

A front loader that shakes violently or shows F7 E1 in its first week almost always still has its transit bolts in.

Whirlpool washer maintenance

Whirlpool's own advice is mostly about preventing the fault in the first place.

Use high-efficiency detergent, at the dose on the label.
Do not overload the tub or drum.
Run the Clean Washer cycle monthly, with a washer cleaner and nothing else inside.
Leave the lid or door open after use.
On a top loader, keep objects off the lid and wipe detergent residue from around the lock.
Clean the inlet screens if filling slows.
Keep the drain hose free of kinks.
Check the hoses after any move.
