Overview

One Click Dubai carries out AEG washing machine repairs at home in Dubai, with an engineer sent the same day. We repair AEG Lavamat and Lavamat Turbo machines, current 6000 to 9000 Series washers, built-in models and AEG washer dryers.

An AEG is bought to last, and most of the ones we see are worth repairing properly. This page sets out the faults by symptom, then goes into the door lock, leaks underneath, Lavamat spin and drain problems, start faults, washer dryers, built-in machines, bearings and cost.

We fit genuine AEG parts, ordered against the product number on the rating plate.

AEG washing machine repair in Dubai: the short version

AEG washing machine repair in Dubai from One Click Dubai is a home service with a AED 100 diagnostic visit, plus VAT. The engineer finds the fault, gives a fixed price and, for the usual AEG faults, completes the repair in the same visit.

If you searched for AEG washing machine repairs near me, we attend every part of Dubai. AEG washer repair goes faster when we have the product number: nine digits beginning 914, on the plate inside the door opening, next to the model name. AEG belongs to the same group as Electrolux and Zanussi, and the three share fault codes and many parts.

AEG washing machine faults and problems

AEG washing machine faults show either as a symptom or as a code on the display. AEG machines use the same code families as their sister brands, with the number after the E giving the area of the fault.

What you noticeCode familyAreaUsual cause

Dead, or resets itselfEHPower supplyUnstable supply or board

Note the whole code, including the last digit, before switching off. Then try one restart: off, plug out for five minutes, and a short programme. AEG washing machine problems that return after that restart need testing, not more resets.

Older Lavamat machines without a display signal faults by flashing the end light or the start light a number of times. Count the flashes between pauses and tell us the number.

AEG washing machine door locked, and how to unlock the door

An AEG washing machine door locked at the end of a programme releases by itself after a few minutes, when the lock has cooled. If the AEG washing machine is still locked after five minutes, there is water in the drum, the child lock is on, or the door lock has failed closed.

1
Wait

Up to five minutes after the programme ends.

2
Check for water

If the drum holds water, the lock is doing its job. Select a drain or spin programme.

3
Check the child lock

A key symbol on the display means it is on. Hold the buttons shown in the manual.

4
Drain by hand if needed

Open the filter flap at the bottom, use the emergency drain hose if fitted, and empty the drum into a shallow tray.

5
Power down

Switch off and unplug for five minutes.

6
Use the emergency release, if fitted

Some AEG models have a release behind the filter flap. Pull it downward while easing the door open.

7
Otherwise stop

Do not lever the door. Book a visit.

AEG Lavamat: unlock the door

To unlock an AEG Lavamat door, the same order applies, with one difference on the oldest machines: the door is opened by a push button on the fascia, not a handle. If that button does nothing after the lock has had time to release, the lock or the button's linkage has failed.

When the lock needs replacing

Signs of a failing AEG lock are a door that needs pushing hard before the programme will start, a lock indicator that flickers during the wash, or an E40 code. We replace the lock from the front, in about half an hour, after releasing the door seal's outer band. See also our door locked guide.

AEG washing machine leaking underneath, and inlet hose leaks

An AEG washing machine leaking underneath has water escaping from the pump filter, the pump, an internal hose, the dispenser hose or the tub. AEG fits two protections against leaks, and both change what you see.

The Aqua Control inlet hose

Many AEG machines come with an Aqua Control hose. It is a double-walled inlet hose with a safety valve at the tap end. If the inner hose leaks, water is trapped in the outer sleeve, the valve shuts and a small window on the valve body turns red. The machine then gets no water and stops with a supply fault. An AEG washing machine inlet hose leak of this kind cannot be reset. The hose has done its job and must be replaced.

The base float

A tray in the base of the machine catches internal leaks. When water collects there, a float switch stops the fill and runs the drain pump continuously. If your AEG pumps without pause and will not start a wash, there is water in the base. Tilting the machine to empty the tray gets it running, but the leak that filled the tray is still there and needs finding.

For any active leak, close the tap and unplug the machine, then call. Slow leaks are covered in our leaking guide.

AEG Lavamat and Lavamat Turbo not spinning

An AEG Lavamat not spinning has usually held the spin back because of water left in the drum, a load it cannot balance, or foam. When an AEG washing machine drum is not turning in the wash either, the motor, its brushes or its control has failed.

SymptomCauseRepair
Won't spin, water in the drumDrain faultSee the draining section
Rocks, pauses, ends with wet laundryUnbalanced loadChange the load mix and run a spin
Weak drum for weeks, then stopsMotor brushes worn, on brushed motorsNew brushes
Motor sound, drum loose by handBelt broken or offNew belt
Drum dead, no soundMotor control, wiring or boardMeter test
Spin held at low speed, heavy thumpingShock absorbers wornNew pair

Lavamat Turbo washer dryers

The Lavamat Turbo is a washer dryer. An AEG Lavamat Turbo not spinning before the drying phase will leave the laundry too wet to dry. The causes are the same as on a washer, and the spin is repaired first.

Older Lavamat machines

Lavamat machines built with brushed motors need brushes after long service, and that is the first thing we check on any older Lavamat whose drum has stopped. Newer AEG machines with inverter motors have no brushes. On those a no-spin fault is traced to the motor's sensor, the wiring or the inverter board. More checks are in the not spinning guide.

AEG Lavamat not draining

An AEG Lavamat washing machine not draining water is blocked at the filter in most cases. The second cause is a drain hose kinked or blocked, and the third is the pump.

1
Unplug the machine

And protect the floor.

2
Open the filter flap

Bottom right of the front. Pull out the small emergency drain hose if there is one, remove its cap and drain into a low dish.

3
Unscrew the filter

Clean out fluff, coins and clips, and check that the impeller behind it moves.

4
Refit firmly

A filter that is not tight is the commonest cause of a leak after cleaning.

5
Check the drain hose

For kinks behind the machine, and for a blockage where it joins the sink waste.

6
Run a drain programme

A humming pump with no flow is jammed or worn. A silent one has failed electrically.

An AEG Lavamat Turbo not draining adds one possibility. Fluff from the drying side is washed down into the sump and can mat over the filter much faster than on a washer alone. Clean the filter monthly on a washer dryer. See the not draining guide.

AEG washing machine not starting a cycle

An AEG washing machine not starting a cycle, with the display on, is waiting for the door lock to confirm, for the child lock to be released, or for a delay to run out. With no display at all, the supply or the board is at fault.

Door. close it until it clicks. If the lock indicator never comes on, the lock or catch has failed.
Child lock. look for the key symbol.
Delay start. if a clock or hours figure shows, cancel it or turn the dial to Off and back.
Start/Pause flashing. the machine is paused. Press it once.
Water. on models with an Aqua Control hose, check the window at the tap. Red means it has tripped.
No lights. test the socket, the fuse and the breaker, then leave unplugged for five minutes and retry.

AEG machines switch themselves off after a few minutes of inactivity to save power. A dark panel on a machine that was simply left idle is not a fault. Press the on/off button. Our won't start guide has the full checklist.

AEG washer dryer repair: not heating up, and not drying

An AEG washer dryer not heating up during drying, with the drum turning and the laundry staying wet, has a fault in the drying circuit. AEG washer dryer repair for this starts with the air path, because a blocked duct is behind most heater and thermostat failures.

SymptomCauseRepair
Drying air stays coldDrying heater open circuit, or safety thermostat trippedHeater or thermostat, after clearing the duct
Warm and damp after a long programmeFluff in the condenser and fan housingStrip and clean
Fan silentFan motor seizedFan motor
Drying ends early or never endsDrying sensorSensor

Heat pump models: no heat, compressor silentHeat pump circuit or its controlDiagnosis on site

Dry smaller loads than you wash. The drying capacity is on the rating plate and is lower than the washing capacity. On a washer dryer, the cold tap must stay open during drying on models that condense with water. More is on our washer dryer repair page.

Built-in AEG washing machines

A built-in AEG washing machine is repaired in the same way as a freestanding one, with the added work of getting it out of the kitchen and back in without marking anything.

1
Plinth removed

To reach the filter and the feet.

2
Furniture door unhooked, if needed

It hangs on hinges fixed to the machine's front.

3
Fixings under the worktop released

And the hoses and cable checked for enough slack.

4
Machine drawn out on a protective sheet

On its own feet, never dragged on the floor finish.

5
Repair, then refit

With the feet reset so that the furniture door sits level with its neighbours.

The door lock, door seal, filter and often the pump are reached from the front with the machine in place. Brushes, belt, heater and shock absorbers need it out.

Because a new integrated AEG costs a good deal more than a freestanding machine and must match the existing door and aperture, repair makes sense for longer on a built-in model.

AEG bearings and a noisy spin

An AEG that roars on the spin, louder each month, has worn drum bearings. Other noises have other causes, and the stage of the cycle separates them.

SoundWhenCause
Roar rising with spin speedSpinDrum bearings
Thump against the cabinetStart of spinShock absorbers, or one heavy item
Rattle or tickWashCoin or wire between drum and tub
Buzz or grind low at the frontDrainObject in the pump
SquealStart of spinBelt slipping

Check bearings by lifting the front lip of the drum with the machine off. Movement of the drum against the tub, or a rough feel when it is turned by hand, confirms wear. Depending on the model, the tub can be opened and the bearings and seal replaced, or the rear tub assembly is replaced complete. We confirm from the product number and quote both where both exist.

Do not run a machine for long on failed bearings. The drum shaft wears, the seal fails completely and water reaches the motor. See the noise guide.

AEG washing machine service

A service on a working AEG covers the filter and pump chamber, the inlet filter and Aqua Control hose, the drawer and its recess, the door seal, belt, brushes where fitted, shock absorbers and a hot maintenance wash. On washer dryers we add the drying duct and fan.

AEG washing machine installation

Installation covers the transit bolts, levelling, the inlet hose, the drain hose height and a test programme. For built-in models it includes fixing under the worktop and hanging and aligning the furniture door.

AEG repair cost, and when a larger repair is worth it

AEG washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs AED 200 to AED 500 at market rates for a door lock, pump, inlet hose, belt, brushes, heater or seal, and AED 500 to AED 1,200 for a control board, motor or bearings. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

RepairTypical market rangeOur view

Bearings or tub assemblyAED 600 to 1,200Repair if the machine is otherwise sound

The usual rule, that a repair should cost less than half of a new equivalent machine, works in an AEG's favour. A new AEG costs two or three times what a budget washer does, so a AED 900 repair that would write off a cheap machine is reasonable on an eight-year-old AEG in good condition.

We cover all of Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Deira. For other makes see washing machine repair.

AEG softener drawer not emptying, and other drawer faults

An AEG detergent drawer that leaves softener or water behind has a blocked siphon in the softener compartment, or water jets above the drawer that are partly blocked.

1
Remove the drawer

Pull it out to the stop and press the release catch.

2
Lift out the softener insert

Rinse it and the small tube beneath it until water runs through freely.

3
Clean the housing

Brush the roof of the drawer recess, where the jets are, and the floor of the recess.

4
Refit

And leave the drawer slightly open between washes so that it dries.

Keep softener below the MAX mark and dilute thick products. If powder is left behind in the main compartment, the cause is damp powder, low water pressure or a blocked jet. Water running out of the front of the drawer during the fill means the jets are spraying sideways or the hose from the drawer housing to the tub is blocked.

AEG control board and inverter faults

An AEG that is dead with a good supply, freezes during a programme, or will not drive the motor although the motor tests good has a fault in its electronics. Current AEG machines have a main board, a user interface board and, on inverter models, a separate motor control.

SymptomLikely boardUsual finding
No display, no responseMain boardPower supply section failed, often after a surge
Display on, buttons erraticUser interface boardMoisture or a worn touch sensor
Drum never moves, E50 family codeMotor controlFailed drive stage, or a wiring fault to the motor
Heater never switches, E60 family codeMain boardHeater relay, once the element has been proved good
Resets mid-cycle, EH codeMain board or supplyUnstable mains, or a failing power supply

We test every part the board controls before replacing or repairing it. Component-level repair is done on the bench in our workshop, and the machine stays in your home. AEG replacement boards are supplied for the product number and many must be configured for the exact model when fitted. A board bought by model name alone often will not run.

A surge-protected socket is worthwhile for a machine of this value, particularly in buildings with regular power maintenance.

Programmes that take much longer than the display says

An AEG whose programme time keeps extending is usually correcting something, and the commonest cause is not a fault in the machine.

Too much detergent. the machine detects foam and adds rinses. Reduce the dose.
Unbalanced load. it pauses to redistribute before each spin attempt. Mix large and small items.
Slow fill. low water pressure or a partly blocked inlet filter stretches every fill.
Slow heating. a scaled or failing heating element takes far longer to reach temperature. This one is a fault.
Slow drain. a partly blocked filter makes each drain stage time out and repeat.

AEG machines with load sensing estimate the programme time at the start and adjust it once they have weighed the laundry, so a change in the first few minutes is normal. A programme that adds half an hour or more near the end is not, and the list above is the order in which to check.

Looking after an AEG washing machine

AEG's care advice is brief, and following it protects the parts that are expensive to replace.

Clean the drain filter every month or two, and monthly on a washer dryer.
Run a hot maintenance wash with the drum empty once a month.
Wash the detergent drawer and its recess.
Wipe the door seal fold and leave the door ajar.
Check the window on the Aqua Control hose from time to time.
Dose detergent for the load and the soil level, not by habit.
Do not leave wet laundry in the drum overnight.

Bearings and tub seals last longest in machines that are regularly run hot, kept clean and not overloaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock my AEG washing machine door?

Wait five minutes, drain any water, unplug for five minutes, and use the emergency release behind the filter flap if your model has one. Do not force it.

Why is my AEG washing machine door locked?

The lock needs a few minutes to release. If it stays locked, water is in the drum, the child lock is on, or the lock has failed.

Why is my AEG washing machine leaking underneath?

The pump filter, pump, an internal hose or the tub seal. If it pumps constantly and will not fill, water is in the base tray.

What does a red window on the AEG inlet hose mean?

The Aqua Control hose has detected a leak and shut off. It cannot be reset and must be replaced.

Why is my AEG Lavamat not spinning?

Water left in the drum, an unbalanced load, worn brushes or a broken belt.

Why is my AEG Lavamat not draining?

A blocked filter in most cases, then the hose, then the pump.

What does E20 mean on an AEG?

A draining fault. Clean the filter and check the drain hose.

What does E40 mean on an AEG?

A door lock fault. Close the door firmly. If it returns, the lock needs replacing.

Why is my AEG washer dryer not heating up?

A blocked drying duct, a failed drying heater or a tripped thermostat.

Do you repair built-in AEG washing machines?

Yes, including removing and refitting the plinth and furniture door.

How much do AEG washing machine repairs cost?

AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic. Most repairs are AED 200 to AED 500 at market rates.

Do you fit genuine AEG parts?

Yes, ordered by product number.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes, for one month on parts and labour.
