Washing Machine Repair Cost in Dubai: Prices by Fault and Part

Overview

Washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs between about AED 100 and AED 700 for most faults, according to price guides published in the city in 2026, with a few major repairs above that. The largest single factor is which part has failed. A drain hose or a belt sits at the bottom of the range. Bearings, a motor or a control board sit at the top.

This guide sets out the published market ranges part by part, explains what makes the same repair cheaper or dearer on different machines, shows how to work out whether a repair is worth doing, and tells you what a proper quotation should contain. The ranges are market figures and not our price list. Our own charge is simple: AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic visit, and a fixed price for the repair agreed before any work starts.

Sources: two Dubai price guides published in 2026, read in October 2026. They are averages across brands and companies. A premium-brand part or a sealed-tub assembly can exceed the top of a range, and a simple version of a job can come in under the bottom. Times are typical working times and are our own estimate.

One Click Dubai charges AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic visit, with no night or weekend surcharge. The repair is quoted as a fixed price once the fault is found.

What you are paying for

A repair bill has up to five components. Knowing them makes quotations easier to compare.

ComponentWhat it coversWhat to check
Diagnostic or call-out feeThe visit, the testing and the finding of the faultIs it charged in addition to the repair, or absorbed into it? Is there a surcharge at night or on weekends?
PartThe replacement componentIs it genuine or a copy? Is it new?
LabourThe time to fit and testIs it a fixed price for the job, or by the hour?
VAT5% in the UAEIs the quoted price inclusive or exclusive?
ExtrasCollection and return for workshop repairs, small sundries such as clips and sealsAre they included?
A fixed price for the whole job, agreed before work starts, removes most surprises.
A low call-out fee is not the same as a low bill. Compare the total.
Ask what happens to the fee if you decide not to go ahead with the repair.
Ask how long the repair is covered for, and whether the cover includes both the part and the labour.

Our terms: AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic visit, a fixed repair price before work starts, genuine parts, and one month's cover on parts and labour.

Cost by fault

Most people know the symptom and not the part. This table works from the symptom to the likely repair and its published range. Many symptoms turn out to need no part at all.

SymptomOften fixed for free byIf a part is neededPublished market range

Each symptom has its own guide with the free checks set out in order: not draining, not spinning, leaking, noise, not filling, won't start and door locked. It is worth ten minutes with the relevant one before booking anybody.

Cost by part, and what the job involves

The price of a repair follows the price of the part and the time it takes to reach it. Here is what each job consists of, which explains the range.

PartWhat the job involvesWhy the range is wide
Drain hoseOld hose unclipped inside the cabinet, new one routed and securedAccess differs. Some need the back and top off
BeltBack panel off, belt fitted, pulleys and bearing play checkedBelt price is small. The check for why the old one failed takes the time
Inlet valveTop or back off, hoses and plug transferred, leak testSingle, double or triple-coil valves cost differently
Drain pumpMachine tilted or front lower panel off, pump unclipped from its housing, new one fitted, test drainSome machines have a second, circulation pump. Some sell the pump only with its housing
Heating elementBack or front off, element withdrawn from the tub, new seal seated, sensor transferredElement ratings and shapes vary by make
Door lockSeal band released, lock unscrewed and unpluggedShort job. Part price varies by type
Door sealBoth retaining bands released, front panel or top removed on some machines, seal fitted and alignedSeal price varies greatly by brand. Some need the front panel off
Carbon brushesMotor removed or reached from below, brushes changed, commutator checkedCheap part. Only applies to brush motors
Shock absorbersMachine tilted, pins or bolts released, pair replacedAlways in pairs
Control boardPanel or top off, board swapped, connectors transferred, programmes testedBoard prices differ by a factor of several between brands. Some need programming
MotorBelt off, motor unbolted and unplugged, new motor fittedBrush motors are cheapest. Inverter and direct drive parts cost more
BearingsMachine stripped, tub removed and split, bearings and seal pressed out and in, everything rebuiltHalf a day's labour. On a sealed tub the whole tub and drum are replaced, which costs far more

Each part is described in more detail, with its symptoms, on our washing machine parts page.

What makes the same repair cost more or less

FactorEffect on priceWhy
BrandLargeParts for premium European brands such as Miele cost several times those for entry-level and regional brands. Samsung, LG, Bosch and Whirlpool sit in between
Genuine or copy partLargeCopies are cheaper to buy and often dearer over time, because they fail sooner and the labour is paid twice
Tub constructionVery large, for bearings onlyA bolted tub takes bearings. A welded tub needs a complete assembly
Drive typeModerateA belt and brushes are cheap. An inverter module or a direct drive stator is not
Front load or top loadModerateTop load parts and access are usually simpler
Built-in or freestandingSmall to moderateAn integrated machine has to be released from its housing and cabinet door
Washer dryer or washer onlyModerateMore parts and more to remove
Age of the machineModerateParts for old models may have to be ordered, and seized fixings add time
Part in stock or orderedTime more than moneyAn ordered part means a second visit
Access at the propertySmallA machine boxed into a cupboard or stacked under a dryer takes longer to get out
More than one faultAdds upA leak that has damaged a motor, or a blocked pump that has burnt out

Location within Dubai should not change a quote much. Timing can: some companies add a surcharge at night, on Fridays or on public holidays. We do not.

Bearings: the repair that needs a decision

Bearing replacement is the one common repair where the answer is not obvious, so it deserves its own section.

Your machineWhat the repair isUsual advice
Premium or good mid-range machine, bolted tub, under about ten years oldTub split, new bearings and seal. Published range AED 350 to 700Repair
Mid-range machine, bolted tub, over ten years old, otherwise soundAs aboveRepair if the shaft and spider are good. Otherwise weigh it up
Any machine with a welded tubComplete tub and drum assemblyCompare the fitted price with a new machine. Often not worth it on entry-level models
Bearings failed and the drum shaft or spider is damagedBearings plus a drum or spiderUsually replace the machine, unless it is a premium model
Bearings noisy for a long time, now leaking onto the motorBearings plus possible motor damageAssess both before deciding
Ask whether your tub is bolted or welded before accepting any bearing quote.
Ask whether the price includes a new shaft seal and tub seal. It should.
Ask whether the drum shaft was inspected. A scored shaft destroys a new seal in months.
Early action is cheaper. Bearings caught at the rumbling stage are a bearing job. Bearings left until the drum drops are a drum, tub and bearing job.

How to recognise worn bearings is in our guide to a washing machine making noise.

Repair or replace: how to decide

Three questions settle most cases: how old the machine is, how the repair compares with the price of an equivalent new machine, and what condition the rest of it is in.

The 50% rule

If the repair costs more than about half the price of a comparable new machine, replacing usually makes more sense, unless the machine is a premium model with years of life left. Under half, repair.

By age

AgeSmall repair (hose, belt, pump, lock, valve)Medium repair (seal, element, shock absorbers)Large repair (bearings, motor, board)
Under 4 yearsRepairRepairRepair. Check the maker's warranty first
4 to 8 yearsRepairRepairUsually repair
8 to 12 yearsRepairUsually repairRepair a premium machine. Compare prices on others
Over 12 yearsRepair if cheapCompare pricesReplace, unless it is a premium machine in good order

By condition

Rust on the cabinet base or the tub supports, a cracked tub, or a corroded drum spider point toward replacing.
A machine that has had one fault in ten years is a better bet than one on its third repair in two.
If the part is no longer supplied, the decision is made for you.
If the machine no longer suits the household, for example too small, the repair money may be better put toward the right size.

What a new machine really costs

Compare like with like. The price to set the repair against is the price of a new machine of the same capacity and quality, delivered, installed and with the old one removed, not the cheapest machine on offer. A good machine repaired for a few hundred dirhams will often outlast a cheap replacement.

Warranty: check before you pay

New machines carry a maker's warranty, commonly one or two years on the whole machine. Some makers give a much longer warranty on the motor alone. Check your purchase papers.
If the machine is within the maker's warranty, contact the maker or the retailer first. A repair by anyone else may affect that warranty.
Maker warranties generally exclude blockages, damage from foreign objects, installation faults and accidental damage. A coin in the pump is not a warranty repair.
Extended warranties sold by retailers have their own terms and claim procedures.
Keep the invoice for any repair. It is your proof of what was fitted and when, and of the repairer's own warranty.
In a rented home, check your tenancy contract. Appliances supplied by the landlord are often the landlord's to repair unless the damage was caused by misuse.

Our repairs carry one month's cover on parts and labour.

How to read and compare quotations

Two quotes for the same fault can differ by a factor of two. Before choosing the lower, check they are for the same thing.

QuestionWhy it matters
What is the fault, and how was it confirmed?A quote without a diagnosis is a guess. 'Needs a new board' with no testing is the most expensive guess there is
Which part is being replaced, exactly?A pump, or a pump and housing? Bearings, or a tub assembly?
Is the part genuine and new?Ask to see the box or the part number
Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?5% on an AED 700 job is AED 35
Is the call-out fee included or additional?
How long is the cover, and on what?Part only, or part and labour
Will the repair be done at home or in a workshop? If a workshop, who collects and returns it, and how long will it take
Is the part in stock? If not, how long
Will the old part be shown or left with you?Reasonable to ask

Signs that something is wrong

A firm price given by phone before anyone has seen the machine, for anything beyond the call-out fee.
A diagnosis of 'the board' or 'the motor' in two minutes, without a meter.
Pressure to decide at once.
A large deposit demanded before a part is ordered, with no receipt.
The machine taken away without a written record of what was taken and why.
No company name, address or invoice.

A phone estimate of the likely range for a described symptom is reasonable. A binding price needs a diagnosis.

Three worked examples

These examples show how the published ranges and the 50% rule work together. The new-machine prices are illustrative figures chosen for the arithmetic, not quotations. Put in the real price of the machine you would buy.

CaseRepair and published rangeCompared withDecision
Five-year-old mid-range front loader, water left in the drum, pump silentDrain pump, AED 200 to 400A comparable new machine at, say, AED 1,800. Half is AED 900Repair. The cost is well under half and the machine is young
Nine-year-old entry-level front loader, roaring on spin, welded tubTub and drum assembly, above the AED 350 to 700 bearing rangeA comparable new machine at, say, AED 1,100. Half is AED 550Probably replace. The repair is likely to pass half the price of a new one, on an old machine
Eleven-year-old premium front loader, dead, control board failedControl board, AED 400 to 800 or more for a premium brandA comparable new machine at, say, AED 5,000. Half is AED 2,500Repair. Even a costly board is a small fraction of replacement, and the machine has years left
In the first case, checking the pump filter first might have avoided the repair altogether.
In the second, the same fault on a machine with a bolted tub would have been a plain bearing job and worth doing.
In the third, it is worth having the fault properly confirmed, because boards are often blamed for the failure of a part they control.

The pattern is consistent: small repairs are worth doing on almost anything, and large repairs are worth doing on good machines.

Is it worth doing it yourself?

Some jobs on a washing machine are home jobs and some are not. The dividing line is whether the cabinet has to be opened.

JobDo it yourself?Why
Clean the pump filter, inlet mesh, drawer and sealYesNo tools beyond pliers, no electrical risk with the machine unplugged
Replace an inlet hoseYesHand-tight connections
Level the machine, remove transit boltsYesA spanner
Re-route a drain hoseYes
Replace a drain pump, belt, door lock or sealOnly with experienceThe cabinet is opened, wiring is disturbed, and a mistake causes a leak or a shock risk
Replace a heating elementNoA poorly seated element seal leaks onto live parts
Replace bearingsNoNeeds a full strip-down and a press or drifts
Anything involving the control board or motor electronicsNoMains voltage and static-sensitive parts

What a home repair saves is the labour. What it risks is a wrong diagnosis, a part bought that was not needed, and a leak or electrical fault from reassembly. The free checks in the next section are where home effort pays best.

Faults that should cost nothing

A large share of washing machine callouts end with no part fitted. Checking these first can save the cost of a visit.

SymptomFree check
DeadSocket switch, plug, breaker
Lights on, will not startDoor fully closed, child lock off, delay start off, tap open
Will not drainPump filter and drain hose
Will not spinRebalance the load. Run Spin only with an empty drum
Shakes and bangsTransit bolts removed, feet level and locked
Will not fillTap open, hose not kinked, inlet mesh clean
Leaks at the frontDoor seal and glass clean, drawer and recess clean
SmellsClean the seal, drawer and filter, run a hot empty cycle
Door will not openWait three minutes, drain, unplug for ten minutes
Powder left in the drawerClean the drawer recess. Check the inlet mesh
A code on the displayLook it up in the manual. Many point to one of the checks above

If one of these cures the problem, you have saved a callout. If none does, you can tell the technician exactly what has been ruled out, which shortens the visit.

How to keep repair costs down

Clean the pump filter every month or two. Blocked pumps are the commonest paid repair that need never have happened.
Empty pockets, and wash small items and underwired bras in mesh bags. Foreign objects cause pump, seal and tub damage.
Do not overload. Overloading wears bearings, shock absorbers, belts and motors together.
Use the right amount of detergent and run a hot empty cycle monthly. Residue shortens the life of seals, bearings and heaters.
Keep the machine level.
Replace inlet hoses every five years. A burst hose is the costliest washing machine event of all, and the damage is to the home, not the machine.
Act on new noises and small leaks early. A squealing belt is a belt. Left alone it becomes a belt and a motor.
Keep the model number and the purchase papers where you can find them.

The routine is set out in our guide to how to clean a washing machine.

Washer dryers, top loaders and commercial machines

MachineHow costs differ
Washer dryerAll the washing machine repairs apply at similar prices. Drying faults add a strip-down and clean of the condenser, fan and heater duct, with a thermostat or heater: mostly labour
Top load, automaticParts are generally cheaper and quicker to fit. Clutch or gearbox faults are the larger jobs
Twin tubThe cheapest machines to repair: capacitors, timers, spin motors and brake parts. Rarely worth a large repair
Built-in (integrated)Parts cost the same as the freestanding version. Removal and refitting adds time
Coin-operated and commercialHeavier parts and payment mechanisms. Quoted after diagnosis
