Overview

One Click Dubai carries out Asko washing machine repairs at home in Dubai, with an engineer sent the same day. We repair Asko front loaders from the older W6564 generation to current models, built-in Asko machines and Asko washer dryers.

An Asko is built differently from most washing machines, and that changes how it is diagnosed and repaired. This page begins with a troubleshooting table, explains what is different inside an Asko, and then covers leaks, draining, spinning, start and door faults, grinding noises, older models, washer dryers and cost.

We fit genuine Asko parts, ordered by the model and serial number on the rating plate.

Asko washing machine troubleshooting

Asko washing machine troubleshooting starts with what the machine is doing and when. The table below covers the faults we are called to most on Asko front loaders, with the check you can make yourself and the usual repair.

Stops with a fault messageNote the wording or number exactlyDepends on the message

Asko machines show faults as short messages or numbered codes, depending on the generation. Write down exactly what the display says before switching off. Then try one restart: off at the main power button, unplugged for five minutes, and a short programme. Asko washing machine faults that come back after that need testing.

Troubleshooting an Asko front loader goes faster if you can tell us at which stage the programme stopped: filling, washing, draining or spinning.

What is different inside an Asko

Three features set an Asko apart from an ordinary front loader, and each changes what can go wrong and how it is repaired.

No rubber door bellows

Most front loaders have a large folded rubber seal between the door and the drum, where water, lint and mould collect. Asko seals the door directly against the steel outer drum with a simple ring, with no bellows. The benefit is that there is no fold to trap dirt or tear. The consequence for repairs is that a leak at the door of an Asko is rare, and when it happens it is the door ring or the glass, not a torn bellows.

Four shock absorbers

Ordinary machines hang the drum from springs at the top and steady it with two shock absorbers below. Asko stands the drum unit on four shock absorbers fixed to the base, with no hanging springs. The machine is very steady on the spin. When an old Asko starts to move about or bang, all four shock absorbers are checked, and they are normally replaced as a set.

A steel outer drum

The outer drum is stainless steel, not plastic. It does not crack with age or heat, and the bearings and seal can be replaced without replacing the drum itself. That is the main reason a bearing job on an Asko is worth doing when it would not be on a machine with a welded plastic tub.

These points also mean that parts are specific to the brand. Very little on an Asko is interchangeable with other makes, which is why we order by serial number.

Asko washing machine leaking

An Asko washing machine leaking water has a fault at the drain pump, an internal hose, the detergent compartment or, rarely, the door ring. Asko machines have an overflow guard in the base, so a leak often shows first as a machine that stops and pumps, not as a puddle.

WhereWhenLikely source
Leaking underneath, frontDuring the drainDrain pump seal, or the pump cover not seated after cleaning
Leaking underneath, centreDuring the washHose between the drum and the pump, or its clips
Leaking underneath, rearDuring the fillInlet valve, or the hose from the detergent compartment
Leaking from the soap dispenserDuring the fillBlocked jets in the compartment, caked detergent, or very high water pressure
At the doorDuring the washDoor ring dirty or damaged, or an item trapped at the door
No visible water, machine pumps continuouslyAny timeWater in the base. Overflow guard tripped

Asko washing machine leaking from the soap dispenser

Water running out of the detergent compartment while the machine fills means the water is not getting away into the drum fast enough. Pull the compartment out, wash it, and clean the cavity it slides into, paying attention to the row of small holes in the roof. Use less powder, and none that has gone damp. If the leak continues, the hose from the compartment housing down to the drum is partly blocked with detergent sludge, and that is cleared on a visit.

The overflow guard

A float in the base tray detects water that has escaped inside the machine. It stops the fill and runs the drain pump. Tipping the machine to empty the tray will get it going, but the leak that filled the tray remains. We find and fix the source, then dry the tray.

Close the tap and unplug the machine for any active leak, then call. Our leaking guide covers slow leaks.

Asko washing machine not draining

An Asko washing machine not draining stops with water in the drum and reports a drain fault. On an Asko washer not draining, the pump is checked first, because most models have no separate fluff filter and the pump housing itself is where objects collect.

1
Unplug the machine

And put towels and a shallow tray at the bottom front.

2
Open the small hatch at the bottom left or right

Where fitted, a thin drain hose is clipped inside. Pull it out, remove its plug and let the water run into the tray.

3
Unscrew the pump cover

Anticlockwise. More water will come out.

4
Clear the pump

Remove coins, pins and fluff. Check that the vanes turn by hand, with a slight jerky resistance.

5
Refit the cover firmly

And replug and clip back the drain hose.

6
Check the drain hose

For kinks behind the machine, and for a blockage where it joins the sink waste.

If the pump is clear and only hums, its vanes have come loose on the shaft or the motor is failing. If it is silent, the motor or its supply from the control unit has failed. An Asko drain pump is replaced from the front or from underneath in about 45 minutes. See the not draining guide.

Asko washing machine not spinning

An Asko washing machine not spinning has usually found the load too unevenly spread, or has water left in the drum. Asko machines are careful about balance and will make several attempts to redistribute before they reduce the spin speed or leave it out.

One heavy item or a very small load. add a few items of mixed size and run the spin again.
Water in the drum. clear the pump as described above.
Too much detergent. foam is detected and the spin is replaced by extra rinsing.
Worn shock absorbers. the drum moves too much, and the control holds the speed down on every load. All four are checked.
Motor or motor control fault. the drum does not turn in the wash either, usually with a fault message.
Belt. on belt-drive models, a worn belt slips when the spin starts.

Run a spin with the drum empty. If it reaches full speed, the drive is healthy and the cause is load, foam or shock absorbers. If not, book a visit. More checks are in the not spinning guide.

Asko washer not starting, and door locked

An Asko washer not starting, with the display lit, is waiting for the door to be confirmed closed or for a delayed start to run out. An Asko washing machine door locked after the programme has water behind it or a failed lock.

SymptomCauseAction

Door locked, water in the drumNot drainedDrain at the pump, then try the door
Door locked, drum empty, programme endedDoor lock failedEmergency opening, then a new lock
Dark display, door openNormal on some modelsClose the door and press the power button

Emergency door opening

Asko provides an emergency opening for a door that will not release. On many models it is a small slot or tab near the drain hatch, operated with the tool clipped inside the detergent compartment or with a flat screwdriver. The exact position is shown in the manual for your model. Use it only with the power off and no water in the drum.

A door lock on an Asko is replaced from the front. General advice for any make is in our door locked guide and won't start guide.

Asko washing machine making a grinding noise

An Asko washing machine making a grinding noise has an object in the drain pump if the noise comes during draining, and worn drum bearings if it comes during the spin and rises with speed.

NoiseWhenCauseRepair
Grinding or rattling, low downDrainCoin, pin or underwire in the pumpClear the pump
Continuous harsh grindingDrainPump bearings wornNew pump
Deep rumble or grinding rising with speedSpinDrum bearingsBearings and seal
Scraping once per turnWashWire or object between the drumsRemove it
KnockingStart of spinShock absorbersSet of four

To check the bearings, switch off, open the door and turn the drum by hand. A rough, gritty feel or a rumble means the bearings are worn. Because the outer drum is steel and can be opened, we replace the bearings and the shaft seal alone. The machine is stripped in our workshop or, where space allows, on site.

An underwire that has escaped from a bra and passed through a drum hole is the commonest cause of scraping. It can pierce the heating element if left. See the noise guide.

Asko W6564 problems, and older Asko machines

Asko W6564 problems are those of a well-made machine that has done a great deal of work: worn motor brushes, a tired drain pump, a failed door lock and, eventually, bearings.

W6564 symptomUsual cause
Drum weak, then stops turningCarbon brushes worn out
Stops full of waterDrain pump blocked or failed
Will not start, door closedDoor lock
Cold washHeating element or its thermostat
Loud on spinBearings, or shock absorbers
Erratic display or dead panelControl unit

Machines of this generation use a brushed motor. The brushes are a wearing part and cheap to replace, and a W6564 whose drum has stopped should have them checked before anything more expensive is suspected.

Parts for older Asko models are generally still obtainable, though some must be ordered and take time to arrive. Control units for the oldest machines are the hardest to find. Where a new one cannot be had, repair of the original at component level is often possible. We tell you which applies after the diagnostic, before you commit to anything.

Asko washer dryer repair

Asko washer dryer repair covers both halves of the machine. The washing side has the faults described above. The drying side has its own heater, fan, sensors and condenser.

SymptomCauseRepair
Washes, will not dry, air coldDrying heater or its overheat protectionHeater, after clearing the air path
Dries slowlyLint in the condenser and fan housingStrip and clean
No fan soundFan motorFan motor
Drying ends too early or too lateHumidity or temperature sensorSensor
Laundry too wet to dryWeak final spinFix the spin first

Dry smaller loads than you wash. The drying capacity on the rating plate is lower than the washing capacity. More is on our washer dryer repair page.

Built-in Asko machines

Many Asko washers in Dubai are fitted into kitchens or stacked with an Asko dryer in a tall cabinet. Both arrangements can be worked on without damage if the machine is moved in the right order.

1
Plinth and any trim removed

To free the base.

2
Stacked dryer made safe

The dryer is secured or lifted down before the washer beneath it is moved.

3
Hoses and cable checked for slack

So that nothing is pulled off behind the unit.

4
Washer slid out on a protective sheet

On its feet.

5
Repair, then refit and level

With the stack re-secured using its fixing kit.

The pump, the door lock and the detergent compartment are reached from the front with the machine in place. Shock absorbers, motor, heater and bearings need it out.

Asko washing machine service

A service on a working Asko covers the drain pump and its housing, the inlet filter, the detergent compartment and its cavity, the door ring, the four shock absorbers, the belt and brushes on older models, and a hot maintenance wash.

Asko washing machine installation

Installation includes removing the three transport bolts, levelling, connecting the inlet and drain hoses, and a test programme. For stacked pairs we fit the dryer on the washer with its fixing kit. For built-in machines we fix the washer under the worktop and refit the plinth.

Looking after an Asko

An Asko needs little attention, and what it needs is simple.

Clear the drain pump housing every few months, or at once if you hear a rattle while draining.
Wash the detergent compartment and its cavity.
Wipe the door ring and the glass.
Run the hottest programme empty once a month, or the drum cleaning programme where fitted.
Measure detergent. Overdosing is behind most dispenser leaks and failed spins.
Check pockets. With no bellows to catch them, small items go straight to the pump.

A surge-protected socket is a sensible precaution in buildings with frequent power maintenance, because the electronics are the costliest parts to replace.

Asko repair cost, and why larger repairs make sense

Asko washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs AED 250 to AED 600 at market rates for a drain pump, door lock, inlet valve, brushes, belt or heating element, and AED 600 to AED 1,500 for a control unit, motor, set of shock absorbers or bearings. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

RepairTypical market rangeOur view
Drain pumpAED 300 to 550Repair
Door lockAED 250 to 500Repair
Inlet valveAED 250 to 450Repair
Carbon brushes or beltAED 200 to 400Repair
Heating elementAED 300 to 600Repair
Four shock absorbersAED 600 to 1,000Repair
Bearings and sealAED 700 to 1,300Repair, if the machine is otherwise sound
Control unitAED 700 to 1,500Repair on most machines
Drying heater or fanAED 400 to 800Repair

Asko parts cost more than most, and so does the machine. A new Asko is several times the price of a mainstream washer, so a repair of AED 1,000 on a ten-year-old Asko in good order is usually sound value, where the same bill would write off a cheaper machine. We give you the figure and our honest view, and the decision is yours.

We cover all of Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Deira. For other makes see washing machine repair, and for premium European brands see Miele and AEG.

An Asko that washes cold, or whose programmes overrun

An Asko whose programme runs far longer than the time shown, with laundry coming out cold, has a heating fault. The control waits for the water to reach the set temperature before moving on and stalls when it does not.

Heating element. the usual cause. It fails open circuit, or its sheath splits and leaks current to earth, which trips the breaker a few minutes into the wash.
Temperature sensor. a wrong reading makes the control stop heating early or refuse to start.
Overheat protection. trips if the element has been run without enough water around it, for example after a level sensing fault.
Control unit relay. checked once the element and sensor have been proved good.

The element is reached with the machine pulled forward and its rear or front panel removed, depending on the model. Allow about an hour. If the breaker trips, leave the machine unplugged until it has been tested with an insulation tester, which finds leaks that an ordinary meter does not.

Asko control unit faults

An Asko that is dead with a good supply, shows a garbled or frozen display, or will not drive the motor although the motor tests good has a fault in its control unit.

SymptomLikely areaUsual finding
No display, no responsePower supply on the control unit, or the mains filterFailed after a supply surge
Display on, knob or keys erraticFront panel electronicsWear, or moisture behind the fascia
Drum never turns, motor goodMotor control stageFailed drive component
Fills, never heats, element goodHeater relayBurnt contacts
Stops with the same message every time, part tests goodWiring or connectorLoose or corroded connector

We test every part the control unit drives before touching the unit itself. Where the fault is a single component, the unit is repaired on the bench in our workshop and the machine stays in your home. Where it must be replaced, it is ordered by the machine's serial number, since Asko control units are specific to the model and version.

Frequently asked questions

Who repairs Asko washing machines in Dubai?

One Click Dubai does, at your home, the same day. Call or WhatsApp +971 55 209 9785.

Why is my Asko washing machine leaking underneath?

The drain pump seal or cover, an internal hose, or the inlet valve. If it pumps continuously, the overflow guard has tripped.

Why is my Asko leaking from the soap dispenser?

The compartment or its jets are blocked, there is too much or damp detergent, or the hose to the drum is partly blocked.

Why is my Asko washing machine not draining?

An object in the drain pump in most cases. Otherwise the drain hose or a failed pump.

Why is my Asko not spinning?

An unbalanced load, water left in the drum, foam, worn shock absorbers or a motor fault.

Why is my Asko making a grinding noise?

During the drain, an object in the pump. During the spin, worn drum bearings.

Can Asko bearings be replaced?

Yes. The steel outer drum can be opened, so the bearings and seal are replaced without a new drum.

How do I open a locked Asko door?

Make sure the drum is empty of water and the power is off, then use the emergency opening shown in your manual.

Can you still get parts for an Asko W6564?

Generally yes, though some need ordering. We confirm after the diagnostic.

How much do Asko washing machine repairs cost?

AED 100 plus VAT for the diagnostic. Most repairs are AED 250 to AED 600 at market rates.

Do you install Asko washing machines?

Yes, including stacked and built-in installations.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes, for one month on parts and labour.
