Overview

When a Bosch washing machine locks its door, shows a fault code or stops spinning, One Click Dubai sends a technician to your home in Dubai the same day. Bosch washing machine repair covers every Serie, from Serie 2 to Serie 8, and the faults Bosch owners report most: a locked door, the E18, E17 and E23 codes, a drum that will not spin, and worn bearings.

We fit genuine Bosch parts, identified by the E-Nr on the rating plate inside the door.

This page starts with the locked door, because that is the most common Bosch call, then takes each fault code in turn, and goes on to spin faults, drum and bearing work, leaks, parts, cost, installation and maintenance.

Bosch washing machine repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

A Bosch washing machine repair in Dubai with us begins with a diagnostic visit costing AED 100 plus VAT. Once the fault is found you get a fixed price for the repair and decide. Bosch parts sit at the upper end of Dubai market prices: AED 200 to AED 400 for a drain pump, and AED 400 to AED 800 for a control board or bearings.

What you want to knowOur answer
How soon can you come? The same day, and within the hour for a leak or an E23 shutdown
Which Bosch machines?Serie 2, 4, 6 and 8 front loaders, i-DOS models, washer dryers and built-in machines
Which parts do you fit?Genuine Bosch parts, ordered by E-Nr. About 90% of what we need is in stock
Where is it repaired? At your home. Bearing and board work may go to our workshop, by agreement
What does the visit cost?AED 100 plus VAT. No surcharge at night or at weekends
Is the repair covered?Yes, by a one-month warranty on parts and labour

Send the E-Nr and FD numbers from the rating plate when you book. The Serie name tells us roughly which machine you have. The E-Nr tells us exactly which parts fit.

Bosch washing machine door locked: how to open it, and why it locks

A Bosch washing machine door stays locked while the programme is running, while water is detected in the drum, and for a minute or two after the cycle ends. If the door is still locked after that, work through five checks in order before assuming the lock has failed.

1
Has the programme finished?

Wait until the display shows the end of the programme. Some programmes pause with water in the drum on a rinse-hold setting, and need Spin or Drain selected to finish.

2
Is there water in the drum?

Look through the glass. The door will not release onto a drum of water. Drain it through the small hose behind the service flap at the bottom front. After a hot wash the water can scald, so let it cool first.

3
Is the child lock on?

A key symbol on the display means the controls, and on some models the door, are locked. Hold the marked button for about five seconds.

4
Reset the electronic lock

Unplug the machine for five to ten minutes, plug it back in and try the door.

5
Use the emergency release

Behind the service flap there is a pull tab or lever on many models. With the machine unplugged and the drum drained, pull it downwards to release the door.

Do not force the door

A forced handle breaks the latch hook, and a wait becomes a repair. If the five checks do not open it, the door lock has failed in the locked position and needs replacing.

Door will not close, or will not lock

Laundry caught between the door and the seal.
An overloaded drum pressing against the glass.
Child lock on.
The latch not engaging. a bent hook, a dropped hinge or a failed lock. E16 or F16 may show.

A Bosch washing machine door lock problem is a quick repair once the part is identified. We carry locks for the common Serie 4 and Serie 6 models. Our door locked guide covers other makes.

Bosch E18 fault: the machine will not drain

The E18 fault on a Bosch washing machine means the water has not drained in the time allowed. Older models show F18. Bosch names four causes: a blocked drain pump, a kinked drain hose, a foreign object in the drain path, and a defective pump when the first three are ruled out.

1
Make it safe

Close the tap, switch off, unplug, and let hot water cool.

2
Drain the drum

Open the service flap at the bottom front, release the small drain hose, remove its cap and let the water run into a tray. Refit the cap.

3
Open the pump cover

Unscrew it slowly, as more water will come out. Clean the cover, its thread and the pump housing. Remove coins, buttons, hair pins and fluff.

4
Check the impeller

The small paddle inside must turn. It turns in steps, with a little resistance, which is normal. If it is jammed or loose, the pump is faulty.

5
Refit and test

Screw the cover in fully with its handle vertical, close the flap, and run a Drain or Empty programme. Check for drips.

If E18 comes back

Check the drain hose behind the machine for kinks, and where it joins the sink trap for a plug of grease.
On a new installation, the blanking plug in the waste spigot may never have been removed.
A pump that hums without emptying, or is silent, has failed.

A Bosch washing machine pump replacement, with the genuine pump for the E-Nr, is a short job. The same steps apply whichever Serie you have.

Bosch E17 fault: no water coming in

The E17 fault means the machine is not filling quickly enough. Older models show F17. The cause is nearly always outside the machine: a closed tap, a kinked inlet hose, a blocked inlet filter or low water pressure.

1
Open the tap fully

And check that other taps in the home have normal pressure.

2
Straighten the inlet hose

It is often crushed when the machine is pushed back against the wall.

3
Clean the inlet filters

Close the tap and unscrew the hose at both ends. There is a small mesh filter at the tap end and another where the hose enters the machine. Rinse both. On an AquaStop hose, clean only the tap-end filter and do not open the bulky valve housing.

4
Restart

Switch off, wait a minute, and start the programme again.

If E17 returns with good pressure and clean filters, the inlet valve inside the machine, the flow sensor or the AquaStop valve is at fault. Low pressure is common in flats fed from a roof tank on the floors just below it.

Bosch E23 fault: water in the base

The E23 fault means Bosch's AquaStop leak protection has been triggered. Water has collected in the base tray of the machine, a float has risen, and the machine has shut its water supply and started the drain pump. Bosch's guidance is clear that the owner cannot clear this fault. Older models show F23.

Close the tap behind the machine.
Switch off at the socket and leave the machine off.
Do not run it to see whether the code clears.
If the drum holds water, drain it through the service flap, with care about hot water.
Look for water at the hose connections and under the machine, and take a photo of any wet spot.

Where the water usually comes from

SourceHow it shows
Door sealA tear at the bottom of the fold, with water marks down the inside of the front panel
Detergent drawer hoseDrips from the hose between the drawer and the tub
Drain pump or its cover sealWet around the pump housing
Sump hoseA split where it flexes
Tub seal or bearing sealWater at the back of the tub, often with bearing noise
Too many sudsFoam pushed out of the tub vent into the base

The repair has two parts: fixing the leak, and drying the base tray so the float drops. Tilting the machine to empty the tray gets it working for a while, and the leak that filled it is still there.

Other Bosch fault codes

Bosch lists most faults as an E code and an F code with the same number, because different models show one or the other. Newer displays show a two-part code such as E:36 -10. The table follows Bosch's own list. Your manual is the final reference for your model.

Restart the machine once. A code that returns after one restart is a fault. Send us a photo of the display, since the second part of a two-part code matters.

Bosch washing machine not spinning, or not at full speed

A Bosch washing machine not spinning, or with a drum not rotating at speed, has usually detected an unbalanced load. The machine tries to redistribute the laundry, then reduces the spin speed or skips it. Some models show E32, F32 or H:32 when they do, and many show nothing. A drain fault, a door lock fault and a motor fault are the other causes.

What happensLikely causeWhat to do
Spin skipped or slow, clothes wet, E32 or no codeUnbalance control: one heavy item, or a very small loadAdd a few items or remove the heavy one. Run Spin alone
Not spinning, water in the drumDrain fault, E18Clear the pump

Drum does not turn at allBroken belt, seized bearing, failed motor or boardSwitch off and book
Clothes not spinning dry on a short programmeSome programmes limit spin speed by designUse Spin with the speed set to maximum

Brushes and EcoSilence Drive

Older and entry-level Bosch machines use a brushed motor. Its carbon brushes wear down over years, and the first sign is a spin that fades or fails while the wash still works. New brushes restore it. Machines with EcoSilence Drive have a brushless motor with nothing to wear, and a spin fault on those is electronic.

Bosch drum and bearing replacement

Bosch washing machine bearing replacement is needed when the drum roars in the spin, has play when lifted at the rim, or leaves rust-brown marks at the back of the tub. The bearings sit behind the drum, and a failed water seal lets water into them.

Can the bearings be replaced?

It depends on the tub. On Bosch models with a bolted tub, the tub is split, and new bearings and a seal are pressed in. On models where the two tub halves are welded, the bearings cannot be changed alone, and the complete tub and drum assembly is replaced. That is a far more expensive part.

Your machineRepairWorth doing?
Bolted tub, any SerieBearings and sealUsually yes
Welded tub, Serie 6 or 8 under eight yearsTub assemblyOften yes. Compare the quote with a new machine
Welded tub, Serie 2 or 4 over eight yearsTub assemblyOften no

Bosch washing machine drum problems that are not bearings

Drum not turning, motor running. belt broken or off.
Scraping noise. a bra wire or coin between drum and tub. It can often be removed through the heater opening or the sump.
Loose drum paddle. replaced by sliding in a new one.
Drum turns stiffly by hand. something jammed, or a bearing seizing.

We tell you which kind of tub your E-Nr has before quoting a Bosch washing machine drum replacement cost, so you can decide with both figures.

Bosch washing machine not starting

A Bosch washing machine not starting, with the display lit, is waiting for the door to lock, for water, or for a lock setting to be released. A machine with no power and no lights has a supply or electronics fault.

Display on, Start flashes, nothing happens. the door has not latched. Close it until it clicks.
Key symbol showing. child lock.
A time showing and counting down slowly. Finish In or delay start is set.
Starts, then stops with E17. no water.
Start button not working, other buttons fine. worn button or its switch on the control panel.
No power, no lights. test the socket and the breaker. If both are fine, the mains filter or the power module has failed.
Dead after a power cut. electronics damaged by the surge.

Switch off at the socket for five minutes and try once. Bosch front load washing machines that still will not start after that need testing.

Leaking from the bottom, or from the filter

A Bosch washing machine leaking from the bottom is often leaking from the drain pump cover, which sits behind the service flap and is opened every time the filter is cleaned. If the cover is cross-threaded, or its seal has fluff on it, water runs from the front corner.

Not draining by series: Serie 2, 4, 6 and 8

The drain system is the same across the Bosch range: a pump behind the service flap at the bottom front, with a screw cover and, on most models, a small emergency drain hose. What differs between Serie 2, 4, 6 and 8 is how the fault is shown and how the flap opens.

SeriesHow a drain fault showsPoints to know
Serie 2A flashing light pattern, or E18 on models with a displaySome models have no emergency hose. Put a tray under the pump cover and loosen it slowly
Serie 4E18 on the displayService flap opens with a tab or a coin. Emergency hose fitted
Serie 6E18, or a tap-and-drain symbolEcoSilence Drive models. Same pump access
Serie 8A text message, or a two-part code such as E:36 -10 on newer displaysi-DOS models have extra hoses. Do not confuse the dosing tanks with a leak

If your Bosch Serie 4 washing machine is not draining and the pump is clear, check the drain hose where it loops behind the machine, and the standpipe it empties into.

Blocked pump and pump replacement

A blocked pump is the most common single fault on a Bosch washing machine, and most blockages are small things from pockets. Clearing it is owner maintenance. Replacing a failed pump is a repair.

What we find in Bosch pumps. coins, hair pins, bra wires, buttons, tissue, pet hair, and the plastic collar stays from shirts.
Signs the pump has failed and is not merely blocked. silence when it should run, a hum with a free impeller, a burning smell, or water leaking from the pump body.
What is replaced. the pump motor, or the complete pump housing with its hoses, depending on the model.
What is checked at the same time. the sump hose and the pressure chamber, which block with the same debris.

Clean the pump every two to three months, and empty pockets before washing.

Bosch washing machine repair cost

Bosch washing machine repair cost in Dubai is typically AED 200 to AED 500 for a pump, lock, valve, brushes or seal, and AED 400 to AED 1,000 for a module, bearings or a motor. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

A Bosch is built to last, so most repairs are worth doing. A new 8 kg Bosch front loader sells for about AED 1,900 in Dubai. A repair under half that is usually sound value on a machine under ten years old. The exception is a welded-tub bearing failure on an older Serie 2 or 4, where the tub assembly can cost more than the machine is worth.

Bosch washing machine installation

We install Bosch washing machines, freestanding and built-in. Bosch machines are heavy and have several transit bolts, and the faults we are called to in the first week are nearly always installation faults.

1
Remove the transit bolts

Usually four, at the back. Remove the bolts and their sleeves, and fit the cover caps. Keep them.

2
Level and lock the feet

Bosch feet have lock nuts that must be tightened against the cabinet, or the machine walks.

3
Connect the water

The AquaStop hose is one piece with a valve at the tap end. It must not be cut, extended with ordinary hose, or submerged.

4
Set the drain hose

At the height range in the manual, with the elbow guide fitted.

5
Power

A wall socket, not an extension lead.

6
Test

An empty hot programme, which also clears residues from manufacture.

For a built-in Bosch, the furniture door is hung on the machine's hinges and adjusted, and the plinth is refitted with the service flap still reachable.

Bosch washing machine maintenance

Bosch washing machine maintenance follows Bosch's own advice, and it keeps E18, smells and seal leaks away.

Run the Drum Clean programme, or a 60°C or hotter cotton programme with washer cleaner, once a month.
Wipe the door seal with a damp cloth, including inside the fold.
Leave the door and drawer open after each wash.
Take out the detergent drawer and wash all its compartments.
Clean the drain pump filter every two to three months.
Clean the inlet filter if filling slows.
Do not overload the drum, and dose detergent for the load and water hardness.
On i-DOS models, rinse the dosing tanks when you change detergent type.

Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock my Bosch washing machine door?

Wait for the programme to end, drain any water through the service flap, switch off the child lock, and unplug for five to ten minutes. If it stays locked, use the emergency release behind the flap or book a visit.

What does E18 mean on a Bosch washing machine?

The water has not drained. Drain the drum, clean the pump behind the service flap, and check the drain hose.

What does E17 mean?

The machine is not filling fast enough. Check the tap, the inlet hose and its filter.

Can I clear E23 myself?

No. Close the tap and switch off. Water has reached the base tray, and the leak has to be found.

Do you fit genuine Bosch parts?

Yes, ordered by the E-Nr on your machine.

Is it worth replacing the bearings on a Bosch?

On a bolted tub, usually yes. On a welded tub it depends on the age and model, and we give you both prices.

Why does my Bosch not spin a small load?

Its unbalance control will not spin a load it cannot balance. Add a few items and run Spin again.

How long does a Bosch repair take?

Most take 60 to 90 minutes at home. Tub and module work takes longer.

Do you repair Bosch washer dryers and built-in machines?

Yes. Built-in machines take a little longer because of the cabinet door and plinth.

Where is the E-Nr?

On the rating plate, inside the door frame or on the back of the service flap.
