Overview

One Click Dubai repairs clothes dryers at home across Dubai, with same-day visits and bookings taken at any hour. Dryer repair covers vented, condenser and heat pump tumble dryers of every brand, and every fault: not heating, slow drying, a drum that will not turn, noise, a burning smell or a machine that will not start.

We also clean dryer vents and lint ducts, service condenser and heat pump dryers, and install and stack dryers. About 90% of the parts we need are in stock, and most repairs are finished in one visit.

This page explains how the three kinds of dryer differ, what to check before you book, which fault matches which symptom, and how to keep a dryer safe and quick.

Dryer repair in Dubai: what we fix and what it costs

Dryer repair in Dubai from One Click Dubai starts with an AED 100 diagnostic visit, plus VAT, which finds the fault. You then get the repair price and decide. Published market prices for a dryer repair in the city run from about AED 200 to AED 500, depending on the fault and whether a part is replaced.

Which dryer do you have: vented, condenser or heat pump?

A tumble dryer is one of three kinds, and the kind decides what can go wrong. A vented dryer blows damp air outdoors through a hose. A condenser dryer turns the moisture into water and collects it in a tank. A heat pump dryer does the same using a small refrigeration circuit in place of a heating element.

Five checks before you book

Five checks settle many dryer not working calls without a visit: the lint filter, the water tank, the door, the programme and the airflow. They take five minutes.

1
Lint filter

Pull it out and clear it. If the mesh looks clean but water will not pass through it under a tap, it is coated with fabric softener residue. Wash it with warm soapy water and a soft brush.

2
Water tank

On a condenser or heat pump dryer, a full tank stops the machine and lights an indicator. Empty it and push it fully home.

3
Door

Close it firmly until it clicks. Fluff on the catch stops the switch closing, and the dryer will not start.

4
Programme and options

A cool, airing or low-heat option dries very slowly by design. So does a delay timer or a child lock.

5
Airflow

On a vented dryer, check the hose behind it is not crushed, and feel for a strong flow at the outside flap. On a condenser dryer, rinse the condenser unit. On a heat pump dryer, clean the lower filter.

One more: the load

A drum packed tight cannot tumble, and the middle of the load stays wet.
Clothes that came out of the washer dripping, because the spin failed, take hours to dry. The fault is then the washing machine.
A single bulky duvet rolls into a ball and dries only on the outside.

Dryer problems we repair, by symptom

Most dryer faults show up as one of ten symptoms, and each points to a short list of parts. The table matches what you notice to the usual causes and to what we do.

What you noticeUsual causesWhat we do
Tumbles but no heatHeating element, thermal fuse, thermostat or control fault. On a heat pump dryer, the compressor circuitTest each in turn and replace the failed part

Too hot to touch, clothes scorchedThermostat stuck, airflow blockedSwitch off. Test thermostats and clear the airflow

Dryer not heating

A dryer not heating, with the drum turning, has usually lost its heating element or blown its thermal fuse. The fuse is a safety part that opens when the dryer overheats, and it almost always overheats because air cannot get out. Replacing the fuse without clearing the airflow blows the new one.

Dryer typeLikely causesRepair
VentedThermal fuse blown by a blocked vent, heating element open circuit, thermostat failedVent cleared, part replaced
CondenserResettable or one-shot cut-out tripped by a blocked condenser, element failed, thermostatCondenser cleaned, cut-out reset or replaced, element replaced
Heat pumpBlocked lower filter or evaporator, sensor fault, compressor or its start parts, refrigerant leakFilters and fins cleaned, sensors and compressor tested, sealed circuit repaired if needed

What the technician tests

The element, for continuity, and for a short to the metal case.
The thermal fuse and each thermostat.
The supply to the heater. On some dryers one half of the element can fail, giving weak heat.
The airflow, before fitting any new safety part.

Heat pump dryers

A heat pump dryer runs at a lower temperature, so the drum and the clothes feel only warm. That is normal and does not mean it has stopped heating. A real fault shows as cycles that never end, wet clothes after three hours, or an error code. Our technicians repair the refrigerant circuit on these dryers as well as the electrical parts.

Dryer takes too long, or clothes are still damp

A dryer that takes too long to dry is nearly always short of airflow, not heat. Hot air has to pass through the clothes and leave carrying the moisture. Anything that slows it, such as lint, a crushed hose, a blocked condenser or a clogged filter, lengthens the cycle and overheats the heater.

CheckWhat you should findIf not

When it stops early with damp clothes

Sensor programmes stop when the sensor reads dry. A coated sensor reads dry too soon. Mixed loads do the same: thin shirts dry first and the sensor ends the cycle while the towels are still damp. Dry similar fabrics together, or use a timed programme.

If the air path is clear and drying is still slow, the heating element may be working on one half only, or the thermostat is cutting the heat early.

Dryer not spinning, or drum not turning

A dryer not spinning has a broken drive belt in most cases. The belt is a thin band that runs round the drum and the motor pulley. When it snaps, the motor runs freely and the drum stays still. Many dryers have a switch that stops the motor as well when the belt breaks.

What happensLikely causeRepair
Motor runs, drum still. Drum spins very easily by handBelt broken or off its pulleyBelt replaced. Idler pulley and rollers checked
Hum, no movement. Drum stiff by handSeized roller or bearing, or something jammed at the drum edgeCabinet opened, part replaced

Turns, then stops when loadedBelt slipping, worn idler pulleyBelt and pulley replaced
Turns one way only, clothes tangleReversing fault on the board or motor, on dryers that reverseBoard or motor tested

A belt rarely fails alone. Stiff rollers or a worn pulley make it work harder, so we check and replace them at the same visit, to avoid a second breakdown.

Dryer making noise

A dryer making noise, whether squeaking, squealing, grinding or banging, is telling you which part has worn. The sound and its rhythm identify it, and catching it early matters: a seized roller or bearing breaks the belt and can score the drum.

NoiseLikely part
High squeak or squeal, constantIdler pulley or a drum roller
Squeal at start-up onlyBelt slipping, or motor bearings
Rhythmic thump, once per turnFlat spot on a roller, or a lump on the belt
Scraping metalWorn drum glides or front bearing strip, drum rubbing the cabinet

Rattle or clickCoin, button or bra wire caught in a drum fin or the fan housing
Loud hum, no turningMotor trying to start against a seized part. Switch off
Whirring that fades when the door opensFan blower clogged with lint or loose on its shaft

Buttons and zips tapping the drum are normal. Empty pockets, fasten zips, and check the drum fins for trapped objects before assuming a fault.

Dryer not starting, or stopping mid-cycle

A dryer not starting, with lights on, usually has a door switch that is not closing. With no lights at all, the fault is the supply or the thermal fuse. A dryer that starts and stops after a few minutes is overheating or thinks its tank is full.

What happensLikely cause

Burning smell, and dryer fire safety

A burning smell from a dryer means lint is scorching on the heater, a belt is slipping, or the motor is overheating. Switch the dryer off and leave the door shut. Lint is fine, dry fibre that lights easily, and it collects wherever air slows down.

1
Stop the dryer

Switch off at the socket. Do not open the door if you see smoke: air feeds a smouldering load.

2
Let it cool

Before touching the load or the filter.

3
Do not restart it

Until the lint path has been cleaned and the cause found.

Habits that prevent dryer fires

Clean the lint filter before or after every load.
Have the vent hose, and the inside of the cabinet, cleaned of lint once a year.
Do not run the dryer when you are asleep or out.
Do not dry items soiled with cooking oil, petrol, solvents or wax. Wash them hot first, and line-dry if in doubt.
Let the cool-down phase finish, and do not leave a hot load piled in the drum or a basket.
Use a rigid or semi-rigid metal vent hose where you can. Thin plastic hose sags, traps lint and burns.

Clothes that feel much hotter than usual at the end of a cycle are an early warning of a stuck thermostat or a blocked vent.

Dryer parts we repair and replace

Nine parts account for most dryer repairs. Each has a clear job and a recognisable way of failing, which helps you judge a diagnosis.

PartWhat it doesSigns it has failed
Drive beltTurns the drumMotor runs, drum does not. Drum spins freely by hand
Idler pulley and drum rollersTension the belt and carry the drumSqueal, thump, belt wear
Drum bearing, glides and felt sealsSupport the drum and seal it to the cabinetScraping, grinding, clothes marked or caught at the drum edge
Heating elementHeats the airNo heat, weak heat, or tripping breaker
Thermal fuse and thermostatsLimit the temperatureNo heat or no start after overheating. Scorching if stuck closed
Motor and capacitorDrives the drum and the fanHum without turning, burning smell, cutting out when hot
Door switch and catchTell the dryer the door is shutWill not start, or stops when the door flexes
Condensate pump and floatMove water to the tank on condenser and heat pump dryersTank light with an empty tank, water on the floor
Moisture sensor and control boardEnd the cycle at the right drynessStops too early or never stops, dead display, error codes

Parts prices depend on the model, so we quote them after the diagnostic. Dryer belt replacement, a thermal fuse replacement and new rollers are small repairs. A heating element replacement sits in the middle. A motor, a control board or a heat pump circuit is a larger one.

Dryer vent and lint cleaning

Dryer vent cleaning removes lint from the hose and duct that carry a vented dryer's exhaust outdoors, and from inside the dryer cabinet. It shortens drying times, stops thermal fuses blowing, and removes the main fuel for dryer fires. Clean the vent about once a year, or sooner in a busy household.

Signs the vent needs cleaning

Loads take longer than they used to.
The dryer, the clothes or the laundry room feel hotter than normal.
A musty or scorched smell.
Lint gathering behind the dryer or round the outside flap.
The outside flap barely opens when the dryer runs.
The dryer stops mid-cycle and restarts after cooling.

What we do

1
Disconnect and inspect

The hose is taken off, and its length, material and route are checked.

2
Clean the duct

Lint is brushed and vacuumed from the hose, the wall duct and the outside outlet.

3
Clean inside the dryer

The lint housing, the fan and the area round the heater are cleared, since lint collects there where no owner can reach.

4
Refit and test

The hose is refitted without kinks, and the airflow at the outlet is checked.

A vent that will never work well

Longer than a few metres, or with several sharp bends.
Crushed flat behind a dryer pushed against the wall.
Thin plastic or foil hose that sags and holds lint.
Ending inside a cupboard, a ceiling void or a closed room, where the damp air has nowhere to go.

We replace unsuitable hose and re-route short runs. For the ducts of the air conditioning system, see AC duct cleaning.

Condenser and heat pump dryer care

Condenser and heat pump dryers have no vent, so their lint ends up in filters and on a heat exchanger inside the machine. Most slow-drying complaints on these dryers are cured by cleaning that the manual describes and few owners do.

PartWhere it isHow oftenHow
Door lint filterIn the door openingEvery loadLift out, peel off the fluff, wash monthly

Evaporator fins, heat pump dryersBehind the lower filterWhen fluff is visibleSoft brush or vacuum only. The fins bend and cut
Moisture sensorInside the drum, below the doorMonthlyWipe with a damp cloth

Some heat pump dryers clean their own heat exchanger with condensed water and have no lower filter. They still need the door filter cleaned and the tank emptied. When the fins on any heat pump dryer are matted beyond brushing, book a service, because the machine has to be opened.

Dryer repair cost in Dubai

Dryer repair cost in Dubai typically falls between AED 200 and AED 500, according to prices published by companies in the city in 2026. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT, and the technician gives you the repair price before starting.

Lower end. a belt, a thermal fuse, a door switch, cleaning a blocked air path.
Middle. a heating element, rollers and pulley, a pump.
Upper end and above. a motor, a control board, a drum bearing, or sealed-circuit work on a heat pump dryer.
Parts for Miele, Bosch, Siemens and AEG dryers cost more than for most other brands.

Few companies in Dubai publish part-by-part dryer prices, so the range above is a guide to the market and not our price list.

Repair or replace?

Repair a dryer when the repair costs less than about half the price of a comparable new one. Vented and condenser dryers are simple machines, and most of their faults are worth fixing at any age. Heat pump dryers cost more to buy, so they justify larger repairs.

Dryer installation and stacking

We install dryers, connect vent hoses and drain hoses, and stack dryers on washing machines. A dryer needs a level floor, a socket of its own, air around it, and either a route outdoors for its vent or a drain for its water.

1
Position and level

All four feet down and adjusted. An uneven dryer is noisy and wears its rollers.

2
Vent, on vented dryers

The shortest, straightest run to the outside, in rigid or semi-rigid hose, with the dryer left far enough from the wall not to crush it.

3
Drain, on condenser and heat pump dryers

The small drain hose at the back can go to a waste pipe, so the tank never needs emptying.

4
Power

Straight into a wall socket. No extension lead, and not shared with the washing machine on one adaptor.

5
Stacking

Only with the maker's stacking kit, which locks the dryer to the washer. The dryer always goes on top.

6
Test

A short cycle, with heat, airflow and drainage checked.

A condenser dryer needs a ventilated room. In a closed cupboard it heats its own air and dries slowly.

Commercial and laundry-room dryers

We repair commercial dryers in building laundry rooms, staff accommodation, salons, gyms and laundries. They run many cycles a day, so lint builds up faster and belts, rollers and elements wear sooner. Regular lint and vent cleaning matters even more on these machines, for both drying time and fire safety.

Dryer brands we repair, and washer dryers

We repair every dryer brand sold in the UAE, including LG, Samsung, Bosch, Siemens, Miele, AEG, Electrolux, Beko, Whirlpool, Ariston, Indesit, Hoover, Candy and Hisense.

A washer dryer, which washes and dries in the same drum, has its own page: washer dryer repair. For the washing machine beside the dryer, see washing machine repair.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a dryer repair take?

Most repairs take about an hour. Jobs that need the drum out, such as a bearing, take longer.

Why does my dryer take two cycles to dry?

The air cannot get out. Clean the lint filter, then the vent hose or the condenser unit. If it is still slow, the heater may be working at half power.

Is it normal for a heat pump dryer to be slow?

Yes. Two to three hours for a full load is normal, because it dries at a lower temperature. It uses much less electricity doing so.

Can I use my dryer without the vent hose?

Not in a closed room. A vented dryer blows hot, damp, linty air into the room, which causes condensation and mould.

Why does my dryer smell musty?

Damp lint in the filter housing, the condenser or the tank. Clean all three, and leave the door open after use.

My dryer is hot but the clothes stay wet. Why?

Heat without airflow. The vent, filter or condenser is blocked, so the moisture has nowhere to go.

How often should the lint filter be cleaned?

Every load. Wash it with soapy water about once a month to remove softener film.

Can a dryer be put on top of any washing machine?

Only with the correct stacking kit, and only on a front-loading washer of the same width.

Do dryer sheets harm the dryer?

They leave a film on the lint filter and the moisture sensor. Wash the filter and wipe the sensor regularly if you use them.

Do you repair the washing machine on the same visit?

Yes. Tell us when you book, so parts for both come with the technician.
