Overview

One Click Dubai repairs Singer washing machines at home in Dubai, the same day. We repair Singer semi-automatic twin tubs, fully automatic top loaders and Singer front loaders.

Singer washers are straightforward machines, and nearly every fault on one is a single inexpensive part. This page shows how to reach the service, sets out the common problems by machine type, and then explains each repair: the twin tub's timers and spinner, the top loader's lid switch and drain, and the faults all three types share.

We fit genuine Singer parts where they are available for the model, matched to the rating label.

Some Singer washing machines in Dubai were bought abroad and brought here, so models vary widely. The label on the back of the cabinet gives the model and the voltage. Send a photo when you book. If the label shows a voltage or frequency different from the UAE supply, tell us, because that affects the motor and the timer.

A Singer washing machine service centre visit from us is the same for every type: test, find the fault, agree the price, repair, test with water, invoice.

Singer semi-automatic washing machine repair

Singer semi-automatic washing machine repair is the work we do most on this brand. A twin tub washes in the larger tub and spins in the smaller one, and it is controlled entirely by clockwork timers and switches.

The drain selector

The knob marked Wash and Drain moves a valve at the bottom of the wash tub. If the wash tub empties while washing, the valve is not sealing: something is caught on it, or its spring or rubber has failed. If it will not empty, the linkage to the knob has come off. Both are quick repairs.

Singer top load washing machine repair

Singer top load washing machine repair covers fully automatic machines that fill, wash, drain and spin unattended. Their faults centre on the parts that control water and the parts that drive the tub.

PartSymptom when it failsRepair time
Lid switchStops before the spin, or will not start20 minutes
Inlet valveNo fill, slow fill, or fills when off30 minutes
Water level sensor or its tubeOverfills, underfills, or sits after filling30 minutes

CapacitorMotor hums, cannot start20 minutes
BeltMotor runs, tub does not30 minutes
ClutchWashes, drains, will not spin60 to 90 minutes
Suspension rodsTub knocks the cabinet45 minutes
Control boardDead, or buttons not respondingVaries

Most Singer top loaders drain by gravity. The hose leaves the cabinet near the floor and must stay low to a floor drain. This single point causes more calls than any failed part: a machine moved to a new home and connected with its hose over a sink will fill, wash and then stop with a full tub.

The drain motor on these machines also frees the clutch for the spin. A weak one gives a slow drain and no spin together.

Singer washing machine not spinning

A Singer washing machine not spinning has a cause that depends on the type: an open lid switch, an undrained tub or a clutch fault on a top loader, a lid switch, brake or capacitor on a twin tub spinner, and a drain, balance or belt fault on a front loader.

1
Close the lid fully

On both top loaders and twin tub spinners, the lid switch must be pressed.

2
Look for water

A tub that has not emptied will not spin on an automatic.

3
Even out the load

Spread laundry around the tub. In a twin tub spinner, pack it down flat and fit the inner cover.

4
Listen

A hum without rotation points to the capacitor or a jammed drive. Silence points to a switch or timer.

5
Stop if it hums

A motor that hums and cannot turn overheats within a minute or two.

If none of that restores the spin, a part needs replacing, and for most of the parts involved the repair is short and cheap. See the not spinning guide.

Singer washing machine not draining

A Singer washing machine not draining has its hose set wrongly or blocked in most cases. A failed part is the second possibility.

TypeCheckIf the hose is right
Twin tubHose flat on the floor to the drain. Selector fully at DrainSelector linkage or a blocked outlet
Top load, gravity drainHose low all the way, end open to airDrain valve jammed, or drain motor failed
Top load, pump drainHose to standpipe within the height limitPump blocked or failed
Front loadHose not kinked. Filter at the bottom front cleanedPump

Lint is the usual blockage. On a twin tub and a top loader, pull the lint filter and look into the tub outlet. On a front loader, clean the pump filter over a tray. See the not draining guide.

Singer washing machine not starting

A Singer washing machine not starting has no power reaching it, a switch that is open, or a failed timer or board.

Try another appliance in the socket, and plug the washer straight into the wall, not an extension.
Check the plug for a loose wire or a blown fuse.
Flex the power cord gently near the plug and the cabinet. If the machine comes on and off, the cord is broken inside.
Twin tub. both sides dead means the supply or cord. One side dead means that side's timer, switch or capacitor.
Top load. no lights means the power button or board. Lights with no response means the lid switch or child lock.
Front load. lights with no start means the door lock.

A machine brought from a country with a different supply frequency may run its timer fast or slow and its motor hot. If your Singer has never run quite right since it arrived, mention where it came from. See our won't start guide.

Singer washing machine leaking

A Singer washing machine leaking has a perished hose, a loose connection, a valve that is not sealing or a worn tub seal.

WhenTypeLikely source
FillingAllInlet hose washer
WashingTwin tubDrain selector valve, internal hose
SpinningTwin tubSpin tub seal
WashingTop loadDrain valve, tub seal
DrainingAllDrain hose split or loose
WashingFront loadDoor seal or filter cap
FillingTop loadOverfill past the rim

Rubber hoses inside a twin tub harden and crack with age, especially where the machine stands in heat. They are cheap to replace. Close the tap and unplug if water is spreading, and call. See the leaking guide.

Singer front loaders

Singer front loaders have the faults common to all front load machines.

SymptomCauseRepair
Door will not openWater in the drum, or the lockDrain. New lock if needed
Will not startDoor lockLock
Stops full of waterFilter or pumpClean, or new pump
Drum does not turnBelt or brushesBelt or brushes
Cold washHeating elementElement
Bangs on spinTransit bolts, or shock absorbersRemove bolts, or new shock absorbers

For a door that will not open, drain the water at the filter, unplug for five minutes and try the handle gently. Do not force it. See the door locked guide.

Water level, filling and overflow on Singer automatics

A Singer automatic that fills too much, too little or without stopping has a fault in the inlet valve or in the water level sensing.

SymptomTestFault
Water keeps coming inSwitch off at the wall. Does it stop?If no: inlet valve stuck open. If yes: level sensing
Fills past the top markLook under the panel for a loose thin tubeLevel sensor tube off or split, or sensor failed
Fills very slowlyUnscrew the hose and check the mesh filterBlocked filter or low pressure
Water runs in and the level does not riseLook at the drain hoseDrain valve open, or hose siphoning
Starts washing with too little waterCompare with the level selectedResidue in the air chamber, or sensor drift

If water ever flows with the power off, close the tap and keep it closed. Nothing inside the machine can stop a valve that has stuck open, and the tub will overflow.

Using a Singer twin tub so that it lasts

How a twin tub is used decides how long it lasts, more than with any other type of washer.

Fill to the mark for the load. Too little water makes the pulsator drag the laundry and strains the belt and motor.
Wash in several small loads, not one packed tub.
Set the wash timer for the soil level. Fifteen minutes on lightly soiled laundry wears the machine and the fabric for nothing.
Let the wash motor rest for a few minutes between consecutive loads.
Load the spinner evenly, press the laundry down, fit the inner cover, close both lids.
Spin in short bursts for delicate items.
Turn the drain selector fully to one position.
Empty and wipe the tubs after use. Leave the lids open until dry.
Stand the machine on a dry surface or a low stand.

A twin tub looked after in this way will usually outlast its timers, and timers are cheap.

Electrical safety on twin tubs and top loaders

Twin tubs and top loaders are used with wet hands on wet floors, so their electrical condition matters more than on a machine tucked into a kitchen.

SignMeaningWhat to do
Tingle when touching the cabinet or the waterCurrent leaking to the cabinet, and no working earthUnplug at once. Do not use until repaired

We check the earth connection and the cord on every twin tub and top loader we repair, and we tell you if the socket itself has no earth, which is a matter for the building's electrician.

Installation

We install Singer washing machines of all three types.

1
Remove transport packing

Base packing on a top loader, transit bolts on a front loader.

2
Place on a firm, level, dry surface

A stand is advisable in bathrooms and on balconies.

3
Connect the inlet

With a filter washer. Twin tubs may be filled by a loose hose from the tap.

4
Lay the drain hose

Low to the floor drain for twin tubs and gravity-drain top loaders.

5
Earthed wall socket

Three-pin plug, no adaptor.

6
Test

Fill, wash, drain and spin.

Singer repair cost, and repair or replace

Singer washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs AED 100 to AED 300 at market rates for a timer, capacitor, belt, switch, valve, hose or drain motor, and AED 300 to AED 650 for a motor, gearbox, clutch or board. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

Gearbox or clutchAED 300 to 600Usually replace the machine
Control boardAED 300 to 550Compare with a new machine

These are low-cost machines, and the arithmetic is simple. Parts in the top half of the table are always worth fitting. For the bottom three, we compare the repair with the price of a new machine and tell you which we would choose. A rusted cabinet base ends the question: no repair is worth doing on a machine whose frame is failing.

We cover all of Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Deira. For other makes see washing machine repair.

How a twin tub works, and why its faults are simple

A twin tub is two machines in one cabinet, each with its own motor and timer, and neither depends on the other.

PartJobFault when it fails
Wash timerSwitches the wash motor one way, pauses, then the otherNo wash, or one direction only
Wash motor and capacitorTurn the pulsator through a belt and gearboxHum, no movement
PulsatorStirs the laundrySlips, grinds or wobbles when its hub wears
Drain selectorOpens the wash tub's drainTub empties itself, or will not empty
Spin timerRuns the spin motor for the set timeNo spin
Lid switchCuts the spinner when the lid liftsNo spin, if stuck open
Spin motor and capacitorTurn the spin tub directlyHum, slow spin
BrakeStops the spin tub when the lid liftsTub keeps turning

There is no computer, no water level sensor and no heater. A fault can be traced with a meter in minutes, and the parts are among the cheapest in any washing machine. The one thing that ends a twin tub's life is rust in the cabinet base, which is why keeping it dry matters.

Capacitors: the small part behind most humming motors

When a Singer's wash or spin motor hums and will not turn, the capacitor is the first suspect. It is a small cylinder, wired to the motor, that gives the motor the phase shift it needs to start.

Signs of a failing capacitor. slow starts, a motor that runs if the tub is nudged by hand, a hum that ends when the thermal cut-out trips.
Signs of a failed one. a hum and no rotation at all, sometimes a bulged or leaking casing.
What else gives a hum. a belt jammed by cloth, a seized pulsator shaft, a brake that has not released, or an overloaded tub.
What to do. switch off. A stalled motor draws heavy current and overheats quickly.

A replacement must match the original's capacitance and be rated for the voltage. Fitting takes about 20 minutes. Because the capacitor is cheap, we replace it whenever it tests weak, even if another fault brought us out.

Singer machines on balconies and in bathrooms

Many Singer twin tubs and top loaders are kept where there is a floor drain, which usually means a balcony or a bathroom. Both are hard on a washing machine.

ConditionWhat it damagesProtection
Standing water on the floorCabinet base and motor mounts rustA stand or blocks that lift the machine clear
Splashing from showers or wash-downMotors, capacitors, terminal blocksPosition away from spray. A cover when idle
Direct sunLids, panel film, hoses and knobs become brittleShade or a cover
RainTimers and control panelsA cover, and the lids kept shut
Dust and sandInlet filter, timer contactsRinse the filter. Keep covered

When we repair a machine kept in these conditions, we check the base for rust and the terminal block for corrosion, and tell you how long the cabinet is likely to last, so that you do not spend on a machine that is near its end.

Front loader extras: heating, seals and pumps

A Singer front loader has parts that the twin tub and the top loader do not, and each has its own fault.

Heating element. a cold wash that overruns, or a breaker that trips a few minutes in. Replaced in under an hour.
Door seal. a leak down the front, or mould in the fold. Cleaned or replaced.
Drain pump and filter. the filter is behind a cover at the bottom front and needs cleaning every month or two.
Door lock. the wash will not start, or the door will not open afterwards.
Shock absorbers. banging at the start of the spin on an older machine.
Carbon brushes. a drum that weakens over weeks and then stops.

A front loader also needs its transit bolts removed before first use and refitted for any move.

How a Singer repair visit runs

Every visit follows the same steps.

1
Booking

You tell us the type, send the label and describe the fault.

2
Diagnosis

The technician runs each function and tests the suspect part with a meter.

3
Quotation

A fixed price, and our view on whether the repair is worth it for the machine's age and condition.

4
Repair and test

With water, through a wash and a spin.

5
Invoice

With the warranty on parts and labour.

Most Singer repairs take 30 to 60 minutes. Where a part specific to an imported model has to be found, we tell you the likely wait before you decide.

Pulsator, gearbox and bearing faults

The pulsator is the ribbed disc at the bottom of a Singer's wash tub. It is driven from below through a gearbox on a twin tub, or a clutch and gearbox on a top loader.

Pulsator turns freely by hand with no resistance. its splined centre has stripped, or the screw holding it has come out. A new pulsator or screw cures it.
Grinding from under the tub. the shaft seal has leaked and the bearing or gearbox below it has rusted.
Water dripping from under the wash tub's centre. the shaft seal.
Laundry tangling badly. the pulsator is turning in one direction only, which is a timer fault on a twin tub.

A seal caught early is an inexpensive repair. A gearbox that has run wet for months often costs more than the machine is worth, and we tell you plainly when that is the case.
