Overview

One Click Dubai repairs Toshiba washing machines in Dubai homes, with a same-day visit. Our Toshiba work is mostly on fully automatic top loaders, from 7 kg family machines to the large inverter models, and it also covers Toshiba front loaders and twin tubs.

One fault is particular to Toshiba top loaders and accounts for a large share of the calls: the lid lock. This page explains it properly. It then covers a washer that will not spin, water that will not drain, PCB board repair, start faults, leaks, filling problems, front loaders, installation and upkeep.

We fit genuine Toshiba parts, matched to the model on the rating label.

Toshiba washing machine service center in Dubai

If you are looking for a Toshiba washing machine service center in Dubai, One Click Dubai sends a technician to your home the same day. Call or WhatsApp +971 55 209 9785 at any hour.

A search for a Toshiba washing machine service centre near me, or Toshiba washing machine repair near me, is usually made beside a machine that has stopped with the lid locked and a tub of wet laundry. That is exactly the case for a home visit. The technician releases the lid, finds the fault and repairs it where the machine stands.

Toshiba washing machine lid lock problems

The lid lock on a Toshiba washing machine is an electric latch that holds the lid shut while the tub is moving. A Toshiba washing machine lid lock problem shows in one of three ways: the cycle will not start, the cycle stops before the spin, or the lid will not open when the wash has finished.

What the lid lock does

At the start of a programme, the control sends power to the lock. A bolt slides into the lid's catch, and a contact inside the lock closes to tell the control the lid is secured. Only then does the machine proceed. At the end, the control releases the lock, but only after it has confirmed that the tub has stopped turning. On many Toshiba models the lid stays locked through the whole programme, not only the spin, and unlocks when you press Start/Pause.

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do

Clicks repeatedly at the start, then an errorLock trying and failing: worn lock or a misaligned catchLock replacement or catch adjustment

Opening a locked lid safely

1
Press Start/Pause

On most models the lid unlocks a few seconds after pausing, once the tub is still.

2
Wait a full minute

The control will not release while it thinks the tub is turning.

3
Switch off and unplug for five minutes

Many locks release when power is removed.

4
Do not pull the lid

The glass lid and its hinges cost far more than the lock.

Lid lock replacement

The lock sits under the top panel at the front or side of the tub opening. We lift the top panel, unplug the lock, exchange it, check the catch on the lid lines up with it, and run a programme through to the spin. It takes about 30 minutes. Where the lock tests good, the fault is in the wiring that flexes at the top panel hinge or in the control board's output, and we trace it with a meter.

A lid lock is a small, inexpensive part, and replacing it is nearly always the right decision, whatever the age of the machine.

Toshiba washing machine not spinning

A Toshiba washing machine not spinning has been stopped by the lid lock, by water left in the tub, or by a load it cannot balance. If the spin is not working with the lid locked, the tub drained and the laundry spread evenly, the fault is in the drive.

Belt drive and direct drive

Standard Toshiba top loaders drive the tub through a belt and a clutch below it. The belt wears, and the clutch is shifted between wash and spin by the same motor that opens the drain. The larger inverter models place the motor directly under the tub with no belt. They are quieter and have fewer wearing parts, and when one stops spinning the cause is electrical: the motor's sensor, its wiring or the drive circuit.

A top loader on an uneven floor will fail its balance check again and again. Before anything else, check that all four feet are bearing weight. Our not spinning guide lists further checks.

Toshiba washing machine water not draining

A Toshiba washing machine with water not draining has a blocked or wrongly routed drain hose, a drain valve held shut or open by debris, or a failed drain motor or pump. Until it drains, it will not spin and the lid stays locked.

1
Check which drain type you have

Gravity-drain models have a hose that leaves low at the back and must run along the floor. Pump models can lift water to a standpipe, within the height in the manual.

2
Check the hose

For kinks, for a crushed section behind the machine, and for a blocked end.

3
Check the floor drain

A blocked floor trap makes water back up around the hose end, and the machine cannot empty.

4
Clean the lint filter

And any drain filter your model has at the front or back.

5
Restart the drain

Select Spin only. Listen for the drain motor's click and hum.

If the tub is still not draining, the drain valve has a coin or a hair tie on its seat, or the drain motor has failed. We reach both from underneath with the machine tilted, and replace the part in about 40 minutes. See the not draining guide.

Toshiba washing machine PCB board repair

Toshiba washing machine PCB board repair is needed when the control board cannot power up, loses track of the programme, or fails to drive one part, such as the lid lock, the inlet valve, the drain motor or the main motor.

Signs that point to the board

No lights with a proven supply, or lights that come on and go off again
Buttons that do not respond, or respond by themselves
The programme stops at the same point every time although the part for that stage tests good
The lid lock clicks but the machine does not proceed, and a new lock makes no difference
On inverter models, the motor does not run and the motor itself tests good

How we handle it

First we prove the board is at fault by testing what it drives. A lid lock or drain motor with a shorted coil will take out the board's driver for that part, and will do the same to a replacement board if it is left in. Then we remove the board. Faults in relays, driver transistors, capacitors and connectors are repaired on the bench in our workshop while the machine stays in your home. If the processor or the inverter stage has failed beyond repair, we fit a genuine Toshiba board.

Why top loader boards fail

The board sits under the control panel on top of the machine. Water from wet hands, detergent splashes and, on balconies, rain all find their way down onto it. Boards in these machines are usually coated in a protective resin, which helps, but connectors and button contacts remain exposed. Keep the lid shut when the machine is idle, wipe spills off the panel, and cover a machine that stands outdoors.

Toshiba washing machine not starting

A Toshiba washing machine not starting is missing one of the things it checks first: power, a closed and locked lid, water, and no child lock.

SymptomCheckIf that is fine
No lightsSocket, plug, breaker. Press Power firmlyPower switch or PCB

Starts, lid lock clicks, then stopsLid catch aligned, nothing on the rimLid lock

Child lock on a Toshiba top loader does more than disable the buttons. With it set, opening the lid during a programme can stop the machine and trigger an alarm, as a protection for small children. If your machine stops and beeps whenever you lift the lid to add an item, check whether child lock is on. Our won't start guide has more.

Toshiba washing machine leaking

A Toshiba washing machine leaking has a fault at a hose connection, the drain valve, the tub seal, or the water level control. Note the stage at which water appears.

WhenWhereLikely source
FillingBehind the machineInlet hose washer or the inlet valve
WashingUnder the machineDrain valve not sealing, or the tub seal
DrainingUnder or behindDrain hose split or off its outlet
FillingOver the top of the tubOverfilling: water level sensor or its air tube
After the cycle, machine offInside the tubInlet valve passing water

Large top loaders hold a great deal of water, and an overfill can put tens of litres on the floor in minutes. If the water level ever rises past the highest mark, close the tap and switch off at once, and do not use the machine until the level sensing has been checked.

Close the tap and unplug the machine for any active leak, then call. See our leaking guide.

Water level and filling faults on Toshiba top loaders

A Toshiba top loader that fills too little, too much or too slowly has a fault in the inlet valve, the inlet filter or the water level sensing.

Slow fill. the mesh filter where the hose meets the machine is clogged with sand or scale. Unscrew the hose and rinse it.
Slow fill on one setting only. on models with hot and cold inlets, one valve or one tap is restricted.
Level too low for the load. automatic load sensing has judged the load as light. Select the level by hand for bulky, light items.
Level wrong on every setting. the pressure sensor or its air tube.
Fills when switched off. the inlet valve is not closing.

Low water pressure causes filling errors on machines that are otherwise healthy. If the error appears mainly at times when the building's supply is under heavy use, the machine is probably not at fault.

Toshiba front loaders

Toshiba front loaders share the faults of other front load machines, and we repair them with the same visit and parts arrangement.

The drain filter on a Toshiba front loader is behind a small cover at the bottom front. Clean it monthly. General help with a stuck door is in our door locked guide.

What the Toshiba display is telling you

Toshiba top loaders show an E code when they stop. The codes fall into a few groups, and the machine's behaviour at the moment it stopped usually tells you which group you are in.

The exact number for each fault differs between Toshiba ranges, and the list for your model is printed in the manual and often on a label under the lid. Send us the code and the model when you book, and we will confirm the meaning for your machine.

Toshiba washing machine installation

Toshiba washing machine installation by One Click Dubai covers the transport packing, levelling, water and drain connections and a test wash.

1
Remove the packing

A top loader has a cushion under the tub and sometimes a bolt through the base. Both must come out.

2
Level the machine

Use the adjustable foot and check with the tub empty.

3
Connect the inlet hose

With its filter, to a tap that opens fully. Connect both hoses on dual-inlet models, or fit the supplied blanking arrangement.

4
Set the drain hose

Along the floor for gravity drain, or into a standpipe for pump models.

5
Earthed wall socket

No extension lead.

6
Run a test wash

Checking the lid lock, the fill, the drain and the spin.

A new Toshiba that will not spin and knocks loudly usually still has its transport cushion in place. We also reinstall machines after a house move, when the level sensor tube and the drain hose are the two things most often disturbed.

Looking after a Toshiba top loader

Routine care prevents most of the faults on this page.

Empty the lint filters after every few washes.
Run the tub clean programme once a month with a tub cleaner or as the manual directs.
Rinse the inlet hose filter twice a year.
Leave the lid open for an hour after the last wash so that the tub dries, then close it.
Keep the control panel dry.
Do not overload. The laundry should move freely in the water.
Check pockets for coins and clips.

A maintenance visit from us adds the drain valve, the area under the pulsator, the belt, the suspension rods and the gap between the inner and outer tubs.

Toshiba repair cost, and repair or replace

Toshiba washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs AED 150 to AED 400 at market rates for a lid lock, inlet valve, drain motor, belt, level sensor or suspension set, and AED 350 to AED 900 for PCB work, a clutch, a motor or bearings. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

Suspension, noise and vibration on a Toshiba top loader

A Toshiba top loader that knocks, shakes or keeps stopping for imbalance has worn suspension rods, a floor that is not level, or something loose under the pulsator.

Stops for imbalance on ordinary loadsRods worn, or a foot off the floorLevel first. Rods if it continues

Rumble that grows over monthsTub bearing, after the seal has leakedSeal and bearing
Squeal at the start of wash or spinBelt slipping, on belt-drive modelsBelt and tension
Loud buzz at the drainDrain motor straining against a jammed valveClear the valve, replace the motor if weak

Press the empty tub down and release it to test the rods. It should rise once and stop. Large-capacity models put a heavy load on their rods, and a set that has done several years of full loads is often the whole explanation for a machine that will no longer finish its spin. See the noise guide.

Toshiba twin tubs

Toshiba twin tub machines are purely mechanical, and every fault on them is a small repair.

Load the spinner evenly and fit the inner cover. Most violent shaking on a twin tub spinner comes from loading, not from a fault.

Smells, residue and grey marks on laundry

A Toshiba top loader that leaves grey or brown flakes on clean laundry, or smells musty, has residue built up where you cannot see it: on the outside of the inner tub and the inside of the outer one.

Detergent, softener and lint settle in that gap, and cool, short washes never clear it. When pieces break away, they come through the tub holes onto the laundry.

1
Run the tub clean programme

With a tub cleaner, at the highest water level, and let it soak if the programme allows.

2
Repeat

A heavily soiled tub needs two or three runs, and will shed a lot of debris in the first.

3
Clean the lint filters and the rim

Under the tub's top ring, where scum collects.

4
Change the habit

Use less detergent, skip softener for a few weeks, and leave the lid open to dry the tub after use.

Where the build-up is severe, we remove the pulsator and, if necessary, the inner tub, and clean both tubs by hand. Allow about two hours. Afterwards the flakes and the smell are gone, and the machine rinses properly again.
