Overview

One Click Dubai repairs Super General washing machines at home in Dubai, the same day. We repair every type the brand sells here: semi-automatic twin tubs, fully automatic top loaders and front load machines.

Super General machines are widely owned in the UAE, in family homes, staff accommodation and shared flats, and they are simple to repair. This page starts with a step-by-step check for a machine that is not working, then covers spin faults, each machine type in turn, draining, starting, leaks and an honest view on when a repair is worth the money.

We fit genuine Super General parts, matched to the model on the rating label.

Super General washing machine not working: check these first

A Super General washing machine not working at all, or stopping partway, can often be narrowed to one cause in five minutes with these checks, done in order.

1
Power

Plug another appliance into the same socket. Many laundry areas use an extension lead, and a worn extension is a frequent cause. Plug the machine straight into the wall.

2
Water

Open the tap fully. Unscrew the inlet hose at the machine and look at the small mesh filter. Sand and scale block it.

3
Lid or door

Close it firmly. Automatic machines will not spin with the lid open, and front loaders will not start.

4
Drain hose

On twin tubs and gravity-drain top loaders it must lie on the floor to the drain, not hang over a sink or bucket.

5
Load

Take half the laundry out and try again. Overloading is the commonest reason a small machine stalls.

6
Restart

Switch off, unplug for five minutes and start a short programme.

After the checks, the machinePoints to
Is still completely deadPower cord, fuse inside the machine, timer or control board
Hums and nothing turnsMotor capacitor, or a seized or jammed drive
Fills and stopsWater level sensor on an automatic, or the wash timer on a twin tub

Tell us the result of these checks when you book. It lets the technician bring the right part first time.

Super General washing machine not spinning

A Super General washing machine not spinning has a different cause on each type of machine: the lid switch, drain or clutch on a top loader, the lid switch, brake or capacitor on a twin tub spinner, and the drain, balance or belt on a front loader.

TypeSymptomCauseFix

Front loadWet laundry, water in the drumDrain faultFilter or pump
Front loadTries and gives upUnbalanced loadMix the load
Front loadMotor heard, drum stillBeltNew belt

The motor capacitor deserves a mention because it fails often on small machines and is cheap. It is a small cylinder wired to the motor that gives it the push to start. When it weakens, the motor hums, may start if the tub is helped by hand, and stalls under a full load. Do not keep trying: a motor left humming overheats. More checks are in our not spinning guide.

Super General semi-automatic washing machine repair

Super General semi-automatic washing machine repair covers the twin tub machines that wash in one tub and spin in the other. They have no electronics, and every fault comes down to a timer, a switch, a capacitor, a belt, a cable or a seal.

Using a twin tub so that it lasts

Keep to the water level marks. Too little water with a full load strains the wash motor and belt.
Do not set the wash timer for longer than the load needs.
Load the spinner evenly, with heavy items at the bottom, and always fit the inner safety cover.
Move the drain selector fully to Drain or Wash, never between.
Dry the machine after use and keep it off a wet floor. Twin tubs rust from the base up.

A tingle or mild shock from a twin tub is a safety fault, not a nuisance. It means the cabinet is live through damp or damaged wiring and the socket has no working earth. Stop using it until both have been checked.

Super General top load washing machine repair

Super General top load washing machine repair deals with fully automatic machines that fill, wash, drain and spin in one tub. Six parts account for most of their faults.

PartWhat it doesSymptom when it fails
Lid switchTells the control the lid is closedWill not spin, or stops and beeps
Inlet valveLets water inNo fill, slow fill, or fills when switched off
Water level sensor and tubeMeasures the waterOverfills, underfills or waits after filling
Drain motor and valveEmpties the tub and releases the clutchNo drain, slow drain, no spin
Belt and capacitorDrive the tubHum with no movement, weak spin
Suspension rodsHold and damp the tubKnocking, imbalance stops

The control board fails less often than any of these. When it does, the usual cause is water on the panel. A top loader's buttons face upward, directly under dripping laundry, and a machine on a balcony also takes rain. We repair or replace the board and advise where to place or cover the machine.

If the machine fills past the top mark, close the tap at once. An inlet valve that will not shut, or a level sensor tube that has come off, will flood the floor.

Super General washing machine not draining

A Super General washing machine not draining has a hose problem more often than a failed part. These machines are frequently installed with the drain hose hung over a sink, a bucket or a balcony rail, and most of them cannot push water uphill.

1
Lay the hose flat

On a twin tub or a gravity-drain top loader, the whole hose must run downhill or level to the floor drain.

2
Check for kinks

And for a hose crushed behind the machine.

3
Check the end

It should be open to air, not under water or jammed into a pipe.

4
Clear lint

From the lint filter and from the tub outlet.

5
Try again

Select Drain or Spin.

If the hose is right and the tub still holds water, the drain valve is jammed by a coin or hair tie, or the drain motor that opens it has failed. Front loaders have a pump and a filter at the bottom front. Clean the filter over a tray, and if the pump hums or is silent, it needs replacing. See the not draining guide.

Super General washing machine not starting

A Super General washing machine not starting, when the six checks above have been done, has a fault in its switch, timer, panel or board.

Twin tub, nothing on either side. the power cord, the internal fuse where fitted, or the terminal block where the cord enters.
Twin tub, one side dead. that side's timer, lid switch, capacitor or motor.
Top load automatic, no lights. the power button, the mains filter or the board's power supply.
Top load automatic, lights on, no response. child lock, the lid switch or a failed panel button.
Front load, lights on, will not run. the door lock is not confirming.
Any machine after a power cut or surge. the board, or a blown fuse on it.

Power cords on machines that are moved often, as twin tubs are, break inside the insulation near the plug or where the cord enters the cabinet. A cord that works when bent one way and not the other needs replacing, not taping. Our won't start guide has more.

Super General washing machine leaking

A Super General washing machine leaking has a perished hose, a loose connection, a drain valve that is not sealing, a worn tub seal or, on a front loader, a damaged door seal.

WhenTypeLikely source
FillingAllInlet hose washer or the valve
WashingTwin tubDrain selector seal, internal hose
WashingTop loadDrain valve, tub seal
WashingFront loadDoor seal, or too much foam
DrainingAllDrain hose split or loose
SpinningTwin tubSpin tub seal
FillingTop loadOverfill past the rim

Check the simple things first: the inlet hose washer at each end, and the drain hose where it leaves the cabinet. These two account for a large share of leaks and cost almost nothing to put right. Close the tap and unplug the machine if water is spreading, and call. More is in our leaking guide.

Super General front loaders

Super General front loaders bring the usual front load faults, and each is a routine home repair.

A new front loader that jumps about on its first spin still has its transit bolts fitted. They are at the back, and all of them must come out. For a stuck door, see our door locked guide.

Super General washing machine service center in Dubai

For a Super General washing machine service center in Dubai, call or WhatsApp One Click Dubai on +971 55 209 9785. A technician reaches your home the same day with the common Super General parts on the van.

We attend family homes, shared flats and staff accommodation alike. Where a company or landlord is paying, we invoice them directly. Where several machines in one building need attention, we see them in one visit.

Most repairs on these machines take 30 to 60 minutes. Twin tub parts in particular are quick to fit, and the technician usually has the timer, capacitor or belt you need on the van, so a second visit is rare.

The visit is simple: the technician tests the machine, tells you the fault and the price, repairs it with your agreement, runs it with water and gives you an invoice with the warranty on it.

Super General washing machine installation

Super General washing machine installation is quick, and doing it properly avoids the faults that plague badly installed machines.

1
Unpack and remove transport packing

Base packing on top loaders, transit bolts on front loaders.

2
Stand it on a firm, level, dry surface

Not directly on a wet bathroom or balcony floor. A low stand keeps the base dry.

3
Connect the inlet

With the filter washer in place. Twin tubs are often filled by hose from a tap, which is fine if the hose is removed after filling.

4
Lay the drain hose

Flat to the floor drain for twin tubs and gravity-drain top loaders.

5
Plug into an earthed wall socket

This matters most of all on twin tubs, which are used with wet hands.

6
Test

A fill, a short wash, a drain and a spin.

We also replace damaged power cords and plugs and reinstall machines after a move. If the machine was tilted or carried on its side, let it stand for a few minutes and check the water level tube and drain hose before the first wash.

Super General repair cost: when to repair and when to replace

Super General washing machine repair in Dubai typically costs AED 100 to AED 300 at market rates for a timer, capacitor, belt, lid switch, valve, drain motor or pump, and AED 300 to AED 650 for a board, clutch, motor or bearing work. Our diagnostic visit is AED 100 plus VAT.

Wash or spin motorAED 250 to 450Compare with a new machine
Clutch or bearingsAED 350 to 650Usually replace the machine

We are frank about this brand. A new Super General twin tub costs a few hundred dirhams and a new top loader not a great deal more. Repairs under about AED 250 are almost always worth doing. Above that, we set the repair price next to the price of a new machine and tell you which we would choose.

Rust decides many cases. If the base of the cabinet has corroded, no mechanical repair will last, and we will not take your money for one.

We cover all of Dubai, including Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, JLT, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Dubai Hills and Deira. For other makes see our main washing machine repair page.

Water level, overfilling and slow filling on Super General top loaders

A Super General top loader that overfills, stops filling too soon or takes a very long time to fill has a fault in one of three places: the inlet filter, the inlet valve or the water level sensing.

SymptomCauseFix
Fills very slowlyInlet filter clogged with sand, or low supply pressureRinse the filter. Check the tap
Does not fill, valve buzzesFilter blocked solid, or valve failedClean, or new valve
Fills past the top markLevel sensor tube off or split, or sensor failedRefit or replace tube, test sensor
Fills with the machine switched offInlet valve stuck openClose the tap. New valve
Fills, then drains straight away, repeatedlyDrain valve not sealingClear or replace the valve
Stops at a low level and starts washingResidue in the air chamber holding pressureClean the chamber and tube

The level is measured by air pressure in a thin tube running from the bottom of the tub to a sensor under the panel. The tube is easily dislodged when a machine is moved or tilted, which is why an overfill often appears right after a house move. Refitting it takes minutes. Until it is checked, stay with the machine while it fills and be ready to close the tap.

Noise and vibration on Super General machines

A Super General machine that has become loud has a loose, worn or foreign part, and the sound identifies it.

SoundTypeCause
Tub banging the cabinet on spinTop loadWorn suspension rods, uneven floor or uneven load
Grinding from the base of the wash tubTwin tub, top loadCoin or clip under the pulsator, or a worn pulsator hub
Rumble from the spinnerTwin tubWorn spin motor bush or an unbalanced load
Squeal when the motor startsAllBelt slipping
Rattle of the whole cabinetAllMachine not standing square, or a loose back panel
Roar on spinFront loadDrum bearings

Take the pulsator off once in a while. One screw in its centre holds it, usually under a small cap. Lift it away and you will often find coins, hair pins and a ring of grey residue. Cleaning there removes a common source of noise and of marks on laundry. See also the noise guide.

Machines in shared flats and staff accommodation

A washing machine shared by many people works far harder than a family machine and fails in predictable ways. If you manage one, a few measures cut the breakdowns sharply.

Choose capacity for the number of users. A small twin tub run all day for a dozen people will burn out belts, capacitors and motors however often it is repaired.
Fix the drain hose in position so that it cannot be lifted or kinked by the next user.
Use a wall socket with a working earth, never a trailing extension across a wet floor.
Post the load limit and the water level marks beside the machine.
Have the lint filter, pulsator area and inlet filter cleaned on a schedule.
Keep the machine on a stand, clear of standing water.

We look after machines in shared housing on request, with one visit covering every machine in the building.
