One Click Dubai repairs stoves, cookers, hobs and cooking ranges at home across Dubai, with a technician sent the same day. We repair gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooking appliances of every make: built-in hobs, freestanding cookers, large range cookers and countertop stoves, and the ovens that are part of them.
People use stove, cooker, hob, cooktop and range for overlapping things, and repair companies are no better. What matters for a repair is two facts: whether the appliance burns gas or runs on electricity, and whether the fault is on the top or in the oven. This page helps you place your appliance and your fault, gives the checks worth making before you call, and points to the page that covers your type in full.

A hob is a cooking top set into a worktop. A cooker or cooking range is a freestanding appliance with a hob on top and an oven below. A stove can mean either. The table sorts them.

The rating plate tells us exactly what it is. On a freestanding cooker it is inside the oven door frame, inside the storage drawer or on the back. On a built-in hob it is on the underside and in the booklet.
The heat source decides which parts the appliance has and which faults are possible. Each type has its own page.

A stove not working at all has lost its gas or its electricity. A stove with one burner or zone out has a local fault. Sorting which is the first step, and it needs no tools.

Our guide to a gas stove not lighting covers the commonest fault of all.
The oven in a freestanding cooker is either gas, with a burner under the floor, or electric, with elements and a fan. Its faults are separate from the hob's.
SymptomGas ovenElectric oven
Does not heat at allIgniter, no gas to the burner, thermocoupleElement failed, thermostat, timer set to auto

Fan loudNot usually fittedFan motor bearings
Do not line the floor of any oven with foil. In a gas oven it starves the burner, and in an electric oven it reflects heat back onto the element and the enamel. The full oven fault list is on oven and cooker repair.
Knobs, handles, doors and the parts you touch
The parts of a cooker that are handled every day wear out before the parts that do the cooking, and they are quick to put right.
PartFaultRepair
Control knobsCracked, loose, melted or unreadableNew knob, or a set so they match
Oven door handleLoose, snapped or its fixings strippedNew handle or fixings
Oven door hingesDoor drops, will not close fully, or slamsNew hinges, in pairs

Storage drawer or its runnersJammed or off its trackRefit or replace
Glass lid on a cookerHinge broken or the glass shatteredNew hinge or lid. Never lower a glass lid onto hot burners
Feet and levellingCooker rocks or pans slideAdjust the feet
Knobs matter more than they look. On a gas cooker the knob operates both the gas valve and the ignition switch, and a cracked knob that slips on its shaft can leave a burner on low when it appears to be off.
Tripping, shocks and electrical supply
An electric cooker draws more current than anything else in most homes, and faults in its supply show as tripping, dead sections or a smell of hot plastic.
SymptomLikely causeAction
Breaker trips when one burner or the oven is turned onThat element's insulation has failedReplace the element
Trips with several burners and the oven on togetherCircuit too small for the cookerAn electrician's upgrade

Tingle from the cooker bodyEarth faultStop using it. Urgent repair
Gas cooker's ignition trips the socketWater in the switches, or a damaged leadDry out. Repair
Clock blank, oven deadSupply lost to the timer, or the timer failedCheck the supply. Replace the timer
A full electric cooker or an induction hob needs its own cooker circuit and switch. It must not share a socket circuit.
Gas appliances are safe when the gas stays in the pipe until it is burned at the burner. These points apply to every gas stove, hob, cooker and range.
If you smell gas, do not touch switches. Close the cylinder or isolation valve, open doors and windows, leave the kitchen and call from outside.
Check the hose regularly for cracks and stiffness, and replace it by the date printed on it.
Use a regulator of the right type for your cylinder and appliance, and replace it if flames are low on a full cylinder.
After changing a cylinder, test the joint with soapy water. Bubbles mean a leak.
Keep the cylinder upright, ventilated and away from the oven's heat. LPG, the propane and butane mix in cylinders, is heavier than air and collects low down.
Never leave a burner on a low flame near an open window or a fan, where it can blow out, unless the cooker has flame failure devices.
A yellow flame or soot on pans means poor combustion. Have it corrected.
Keep the kitchen ventilated while cooking, and use the hood.
Gas joints are leak tested as part of every gas repair and installation we carry out.
Clock, timer and programmer faults
A cooker with an electronic clock or a programmer will often refuse to heat its oven when the clock is not set or the timer has been left in automatic. It is one of the commonest reasons for a call that needs no repair.
What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
Clock flashing 0:00 or 12:00 after a power cut, oven deadThe clock has lost its time and is locking the ovenSet the time of day. The oven then works
An A, AUTO or a clock symbol showing or flashingA timed programme is set, or has finished and is holding the oven offReturn the timer to manual, usually by pressing two buttons together or the manual or pot symbol. See the manual
Mechanical timer dial not at the hand or manual symbolThe oven is waiting for a timed start, or is switched off by the timerTurn the dial to manual
Minute minder rings and the oven carries onA minute minder only rings. It does not switch anythingNormal
Clock blank, oven dead, hob worksNo supply to the timer, or the timer has failedCheck the supply. New timer
Clock loses time or resets oftenPower interruptions, or a failing timerReplace if it persists
Buttons do not respondChild lock, or a failed programmerRelease the lock. Replace
Programmers are specific to the cooker and are ordered by its model number.
A dual-fuel cooker has a gas hob and an electric oven, so it needs both a gas connection and a proper electrical supply. Faults divide cleanly between the two halves.

Weak flames on every burnerGas regulator or supplyGas repair
Because the oven is electric, a dual-fuel cooker cannot run from the small socket that suits a gas-only cooker's ignition. It needs a circuit matched to the oven's rating.
A surprising number of stove faults appear the day after a thorough clean. They are easy to avoid and usually easy to undo.
Gas igniters clicking without stopping. water has run down the knob spindles into the switches. Switch off at the socket and leave it to dry, with the knobs pulled off if they come off easily.
Burner will not light. the cap is on crooked, the ring is not on its lugs, or parts from two different-sized burners have been swapped.
Yellow flame after cleaning. the burner is still wet, or the ring is upside down.
Touch hob beeping or dead. cleaner or water on the control area. Dry it and switch off at the breaker for a minute.
Knob markings gone. abrasive cleaner or oven spray on the fascia. Use a damp cloth only.
Oven element tripping the breaker. oven cleaner sprayed onto the element or into the fan. Keep sprays off elements, sensors and seals.
Oven door will not close. the door was refitted with a hinge not seated in its slot.
Ceramic glass scratched. a scouring pad. Use a hob scraper and hob cleaner.
Take a photo of the burners before lifting them apart for cleaning. It answers most questions about which part goes where.
Cooking range and range cooker repair
A cooking range or range cooker is a large freestanding cooker, typically 90 cm wide, with five or six burners, sometimes a wok burner or a griddle, and one or two ovens. They are common in Dubai villas, and they bring a few faults of their own.

Table-top gas stoves and countertop cookers
Table-top gas stoves and countertop electric and induction cookers are simple, inexpensive appliances, and most of their faults are small.
ApplianceCommon faultsWorth repairing?
Two or three-burner table-top gas stovePiezo or battery igniter not sparking, burner clogged, valve stiff or leaking, hose and regulator wornYes for igniters, cleaning, hose and regulator. Replace the stove if the body has rusted through or a valve leaks on a very cheap model
Electric hot plateThermostat, element, leadUsually
Countertop induction cookerBlown fuse and power transistor, fan, sensor, pan errorUsually
A table-top stove's hose and regulator are the same safety items as on a full cooker and need the same attention.
Installation, connection and gas conversion
We install hobs, cookers and ranges, gas and electric, and connect and test them.
JobWhat it involves
Built-in hobWorktop cut-out checked, hob sealed and clamped, gas or electrical connection made
Freestanding cooker or rangeLevelled, anti-tip device fitted, gas hose or pipe and regulator connected, electrical supply connected
Gas connectionCorrect regulator and hose, accessible isolation valve, every joint leak tested
Electrical connectionCable and breaker matched to the rating, terminal links set, earth tested
Gas conversionJets changed and burners reset when moving between cylinder gas and piped gas
ReplacementOld appliance disconnected and removed from its position, new one fitted in its place
First useEvery burner, zone and the oven run and checked
Tell us the model of the new appliance, what it replaces, and whether you are on a cylinder, piped gas or electric only. If the kitchen was built for gas and you are moving to electric or induction, the cooker circuit needs checking before you buy.

A cooker that is kept clean and dry around its controls gives very little trouble.
Wipe spills the same day. Burnt-on spills block gas ports and stain glass.
After cleaning a gas hob, dry the burners and seat the caps before lighting.
Keep liquid out of knobs and touch panels. Spray the cloth, not the cooker.
Use flat-based pans matched to the burner or zone.
Clean the oven before deposits carbonise, and check the door seal when you do.
Have a gas appliance serviced and leak tested once a year.
Replace a gas hose by its date.
